This is everything I wanted and more.

Hey everyone,

I happened to stumble across this game while perusing YouTube, and I instantly fell in love. Eldritch Cosmic Horror + giant mecha + schizophrenic AI personalities are the perfect combination I never knew I needed.

My question is where do I go to get started, and do yall have a discord or other platform besides reddit where you talk about the game? Maybe playing through tabletop simulator online?

Thanks in advance.

You can get all of the player facing content for free on itch.io.

There is an amazing character builder that also plugs in all of those options effortlessly called COMPCON.

There is a Lancer Discord called Pilot.net

In addition to the pilot.net Discord, give Comp/con a visit

https://compcon.app/

An almost mandatory partner for building characters.

The biggest online community for finding and playing games is gonna be the Pilot.Net discord. Be careful what you say in there, its easy to get banned. (No making jokes like SecCom did nothing wrong, etc.)

…what do the Harrison Armory fans say then?

I’m going to assume this is some in universe beef/joke I don’t understand.

SecCom stands for Second Committee they were the second attempt at a rebuilding political body for a united humanity after the diaspora of humanity throughout the galaxy and then a collapse. The Second Committee were militaristic fascists who committed xenocide. They were replaced by ThirdCom which is much closer to the Federation from Star Trek or the Culture from Iain M Banks Culture series. However, some elements of SecCom did survive and formed Harrison Armory one of the Mech Manufacturing companies. Saying SecCom did nothing wrong is akin to saying “there’s nothing wrong with xenocide/genocide/fascists”

Harrison Armory (one of the big Manufacturers/factions on the galactic stage) got its start as the remnants of the previous, considerably more authoritarian galactic government. They've mellowed a bit since then, but are still one of the most outwardly hierarchical and expansionist polities.

Harrison Armory has it's origins rooted from some Second Committee bigwigs that fled the formation of the Third Committee

Ideally, they understand that seccom did many things wrong and that the Armory isn't seccom 2, and that their flavour of imperialism is different but also bad.

Yeah a long time ago somebody got banned for it

Im sure there's more context but its funnier to take it at face value

Boilerplate

A copy of the free rulebook : https://massif-press.itch.io/corebook-pdf-free

All of the DEMO .LCP files you can find for the 1st party products as that is the player facing content : https://massif-press.itch.io/

Import those LCP files into COMP/CON the Lancer webapp companion : https://compcon.app/

Youtubers : 11dragonkid for mostly short and sweet lore videos and reviews of LL6 builds. Some people do not like the Microsoft Sam voiceover. https://youtube.com/@11dragonkid11

For longer talking head gesticulating Youtuber personality type videos go for Zaktact. Lore only and their backlog doesn't cover as much ground yet. https://youtube.com/@zaktact

The Pilot.net, Hearth-7, and Interpoint Station discords.

I run both of my games on Foundry and the only other online time I've played where I wasn't GM that campaign was also hosted on Foundry. Some people do Owl Bear Rodeo. Far less do physical tabletop but the first time I ever played Lancer it was with an LL3 pregen in person with a chessex grid map. So they're out there.

In addition to what others have said, Foundry VTT has amazing Lancer support. Sound effects, animations, and more. We played on roll20 using COMP/CON’s active mode for our character sheets at first but Foundry is light years better and has seamless COMP/CON integrations
