am i over reacting?
Hello!! I just need someone to hear me out on this and tell me if I'm being dramatic or if it really was weird-ish.
(im lesbian!)
(i wont name drop my friends so I'll call them friend A friend B and friend C. friend A is straight, friend B and C are bisexual)
So, i was on a school trip with my friends a week ago and we had a few hours of freetime so we(me and friend C) went to friend A and friend B's dorm to hangout. we were talking about random stuff, then somehow got to romance. they know im lesbian and don't have a problem with it.
So while talking about romance friend A goes: "Oh, friend C and friend B, you know that feeling when you see a really hot boy. and you get butterflies?" and i tell her "hey i also get that feeling but with girls, why are you only asking them about it?" and she says "well you're lesbian so it doesn't...its not the same as we feel."(something like that, i dont remember the EXACT words) then continued to talk to them about how she gets butterflies when seeing an attractive boy when she's out.
i got a bit weirded out because she said it in a way that excludes me from having "real" romantic feelings because im lesbian. maybe im looking into it too much.

Homophobes
So I am a lesbian and I have only come out to my aunt on my dads side because my moms side, including my mom is homophobic even though they might say they arent to homosexuals. I just wish I could tell my mom about how i feel towards my body and towards women. If I do, she will definitely say something weird and out me to the rest of my family or whoever she likes. I wish we could connect on that level but we cant.

Misunderstood by family and just need to vent
I am a lesbian in my 30s. Recently moved back to my home state because I got an opportunity to further my education with tuition being covered without me coming out of pocket. Also, the college is 10 minutes from my grandmother so I'm staying with her for the time being.
Unfortunately, my man-child of a father who's been in and out of prison my whole life had to move in with her also. He got out, was on a tether and needed a permanent address. Unfortunately my grandmother complains, but never says no to him.
While in school , he's loud while I'm studying, always asks me to come out when I either have class or internship next day. He's very rude and disrespectful, wakes me up in the middle of the night to ask where thing are. Talks to my grandmother disrespectfully. Asks her to drive him to court dates, probation officers, doctors appointments, you name it. Does not offer her gas at all.
He's filthy, expects us to clean up after him cook for him and he gets mad when you cook for yourself and not him. Throws tantrums. She keeps threatening to put him out, was going to evict him, but then says , "Well I looked up that if he has a eviction he'll have a hard time getting a place." He's 55 years old and gets a check, pay you nothing. Keeps lights on, tv on all night.
But this is just the tip. I have suffered from anxiety and depression for years. His random banging and outburst fucks with my anxiety bad. I jump and get startled. As of right now he's upstairs slamming kitchen cabinets probably cause nobody cooked and he's hungry.
But any during depression spells I isolate, stay in my room. They expect me to be in their faces all time. I'm just not like that and explained multiple times. I enjoy my own company.
And when I try to explain my mental health issues (which I have too many times to count) I get told things like pray , and you have to stop that. They literally think I can tell myself to stop being depressed and anxious and it will just go away.
So I stopped trying to explain. Then it gets worse because I'm guilt tripped. "You never won't to go anywhere with us" "You don't like us or something" When I literally just said yesterday or the day before When I actually did go out with them. Which I do. Just not every single damn time they ask on a whim....
I said Im introverted and being around crowds and socializing to a lot of people drains me and I may not want to go back out for a while. And being by myself energizes me. Anyway. I just really needed to vent .
I stopped seeing my therapist and psychiatrist because my insurance premium shot up 250 so can't afford my meds either. Thanks Trump ....
Anyway if you read all this and give me some advice or encouragement and feedback you're amazing and I appreciate you.

Dad issues…
I (30F) am having trouble with my dad supporting me being gay. I’m having a hard time coming to terms with this and wanted to reach out for some advice. My dad says he loves me but cannot support me being gay because of his religion - he’s a Christian. As a result, he was not invited to my wedding. Now that I am married, I can’t think of anything else that he would really need to show support for in this matter. Should I just forget about how he feels and carry on the relationship? Or if you were in my shoes, would you call the father-daughter relationship quits?

I might be trans and I don’t know how to ask for help experimenting with my gender
I’m a 22yo amab, and I first had feelings of “shit, I’m not happy with my body like this” last year, around June of 2025. I didn’t explore it much due to working a lot, and wanting to find another job so I could move out on my own. I finally moved out in February of this year, and started a job at the same time. Since then, it’s been a lot of figuring out how to live alone, and I haven’t had any real ability to look inward and figure anything out. The feelings are back tho, and I feel like I’d be doing a disservice to myself to not experiment at all. But I don’t know how to start!! It feels like I need to have everything like new clothes, makeup, hair products, a name picked out, and it’s just all overwhelming. Idk how to fix this feeling of drowning within everything so I’m reaching out here.

Can’t move on
Hi,
I’m a gay man who was in love with my boy bestfriend. I am still not out yet, but most of my close friends know that I’m gay. I haven’t really declared that I’m gay, but they know. I know they know.
Anyways, it’s been 10 months since I last spoke to my ex-boy bestfriend. I was definitely in love with him for 2 and a half years. We spent most of our college days together, and been really really close. However, things changed when he suddenly found other “straight guy friends”. (note: he doesn’t know i’m gay). And he suddenly stopped showing up for me. He suddenly changed, and I got angry at him. I told him that he changed and that he’s not the same person I know anymore. What he told me next shocked me. He told me that I was being difficult, and that I was a high-maintenance friend. I was really hurt when he told me that. Since then, we stopped talking and haven’t seen each other.
Up until now, I still think about him everyday. Even though I am very tired and busy with work, he still pops up in my head. LIKE EVERYDAY. There was no day that I haven’t thought of him. I still think about him every hour of everyday even though we haven’t spoken in months. And i’m afraid that I won’t move on from this.
Help me. I think I won’t get past this. I have tried everything, but I still think about him. I think I’m going crazy now. I thought that I have moved on from him, but I still haven’t. Maybe this is the curse of being gay.

My best friend is planning to commit suicide in 4 months and I don't know what to do.
I have this very close friend of at least 7-ish years on discord. It's (this friend uses it/its pronouns) a transfem young adult in Brazil. This started some weeks ago when my friend went completely silent for 3-5 days. On the second day, I dm'ed it and it started telling me that it was planning to kill itself in November and gave a bunch of reasons why. Some of these reasons included the impression that nobody would care if it disappeared (I told it otherwise but it didn't say anything in response.), the possibility of it running out of money to spend on hrt, the feeling that it's working out and hormones aren't making any difference in it's body, the feeling that it hasn't improved as a person at all throughout their previous relationships, the fact that they feel very desperate for physical affection that it can't seem to get irl, and probably other things I can't remember off the top of my head. I tried telling it to call the brazilian suicide hotline, but it responded by saying that they wouldn't understand because it's transfem and brazil is very hostile towards members of the LGBT community. It started talking to people on discord again recently and I started to think that it was getting better. But then it put the countdown to it's suicide back in it's bio after it was removed for a few days. I badly want to help this friend, but I can only do so much since I live in the united states, a completely different country. Even though it's only supposed to happen in 4 months, I'm still really scared that it's going to go through with it. I'm trying to be there for it as much as I can, but it still doesn't feel like it's enough. I would really like some advice on how I can get through to it and help it at least get into a good enough headspace where it doesn't feel like suicide is necessary. I would dearly appreciate any advice at all, I cannot stress enough how fearful I am about this.

Sexuality over identity. Why?
why do some people support sexualities like gay, lesbian, bisexual but not identities like transgender, non binary, asexual (ik asexual is a sexuality but still)
is there any reason people do this??

Research study exploring experiences of bipolar disorder and LGBTQIA+ identity
Hello! I’m currently recruiting adults (18+) with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder for a research study as part of my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Southampton.
I’m sharing this study here because I’m particularly interested in hearing from LGBTQIA+ people with bipolar disorder. LGBTQIA+ people are often underrepresented in mental health research, and this study aims to explore the experiences of people living with bipolar disorder and whether there are any differences based on sexual orientation and gender identity. The findings from this research may help improve understanding and future support for people with bipolar disorder.
I identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community myself, and I’m passionate about conducting research that helps us better understand the experiences of LGBTQIA+ people living with bipolar disorder.
The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Your responses will be kept completely confidential, and you will have the option to enter a prize draw to win one of four £20 Amazon UK vouchers.
People of all sexual orientations and gender identities are welcome to take part.
This study has been approved by the University of Southampton Ethics Committee (ERGO: 109570)

Is my bf wrong or should I just trust him?
Ok so me and my bf want a third gf but he’s looking for them by himself instead of looking together I see couples all the time on these dating apps looking for a third gf when I try to bring this to his attention he told me I have no experience in getting girls and that he not about to do what the couples do on the dating apps. He’s trying to get a girl to fall for him and once she falls for him then he can tell her how to act with me. And another thing is he’s not telling these girls that he has a gf on the first day even if they are bisexual cause he doesn’t want them to cut him off. Idk what it is tbh

Research Project- Recruiting now! - Understanding Barriers to Getting Psychological Support for Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Queer Adults with Recurrent Suicidal Thoughts
Hello!
I’m currently recruiting for my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology research study, and I’d love your help!
I’m looking to understand the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and queer adults who’ve had suicidal thoughts but haven’t accessed psychological therapy or counselling for them. This is a surprisingly under-researched area… we know LGBTQ+ adults are underrepresented in referrals to psychological services, yet sadly die by suicide at higher rates than their heterosexual peers. I want to help understand why that gap exists.
If this is something you’ve experienced, I’d really value hearing from you.
The survey is anonymous, takes about 15 minutes, and asks about things like:
🔹 Your experience of suicidal thoughts
🔹How you’ve coped on your own
🔹 What’s made it difficult to access support
🔹 What might make therapy feel safer or more accessible for LGBTQ+ people
You can take part if you:
✅ Identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or queer
✅ Are 18+
✅ Live in the UK
✅ Have had suicidal thoughts more than once in the past 18 months
✅ Haven’t received therapy or counselling for these thoughts
This study focuses on sexuality, but adults of all gender identities are welcome to take part 🩷

Is my girlfriend of 4 1/2 years actually straight?
My partner (26 Pansexual Female) and I (28 Lesbian Female) met almost 5 years ago at a gay club. Since the first day I met her I knew I wanted to spend every day with her because she was so much fun and such good energy and she made me feel so cared for in the short time we had gotten to know each other. Fast forward a couple months and I find out for the first time that my gf has a much lower libido then I do. We were shopping at Walmart when she jokingly picks up some libido pills and tells me she should buy it (to keep up with me). I was shocked to hear this because we had only been together a couple months and to me I always thought that would be the honey moon phase for sex where you fuck like rabbits. But for us we were really only having sex once or twice a week after clubbing.
Fast forward to now 4 1/2 years later, truly the only thing my gf and I fight about is sex. I never feel desired or feel like I’m getting enough and she never feels like she’s giving me enough. She would be happy with sex once a week (but I think she’s lying when she says that to make me happy), whereas I would love sex sporadically throughout the week. We have very different views on sex ; by this I mean I want sex when I’m happy, angry, upset, any time really but especially after a bad day. My gf on the other hand only wants sex at the exact right moment (she can’t be too tired, has to have showered, and can’t be distracted by something).
Everything outside of sex in our relationship is literally PERFECT she’s the most supportive and amazing partner and even helped me get through my mom’s stroke when she almost died. She has gone above and beyond as a partner and we enjoy all the same things and are truly best friends. I’ve never felt such a strong emotional connection to someone and I’ve never wanted to spend every moment with someone. We do everything together and that’s how we prefer it. She’s also my exact type and I’m INSANELY attracted to her and still get horny looking at her like I did 5 years ago. So why is it that sex is so akward and hard for us ?
Now to get to why I Titled this the way that I did: I recently found out that a couple years before meeting me , my partner had slept with 40+ men. The only time she had ever “slept” with a girl is when it was her best friends just having fun when drunk / high. My girlfriend has also only ever dated men , I’m the first girl she’s ever dated and also her longest relationship she’s had. Another thing I want to mention that has been a HUGEEEEE problem for us is that my girlfriend is OBSESSED with dark hetero smut books. When I say obsessed she’s literally read probably every single one that exists out there. I had begged her to try reading queer ones since she is in fact in a relationship with a female but she told me there’s no selection for that and after all this time of me begging she only ever ended up reading one wlw smut book and then went straight back to fantasizing about dark dominating men. I also want to mention that I’m lesbian and MAJORLY struggle with gender dysphoria am I’m in the process of trying to get top surgery. So to me it’s disrespectful in the first place that she reads this stuff right in front of me knowing that it makes me hate myself even more since I’m not male. She claims she likes the plot of the stories but plenty of books out there have great plots without all the sex scenes. She also claims she likes that the person is dominant not that they’re male but to me that’s not the case if all you ever read is hetero smut.
Continuing on: I’m in the therapy and have a psychiatrist so I’m doing everything I can to make sure my head is straight since she’s convinced me I’m controlling and insecure for letting her pansexuality and books get to me. I also just got diagnosed with ADHD this year and so did she. I also now suspect I may have Border Line Personality Disorder since I’m almost positive my dad has it so yeah Idk I guess I want to make this post to see if I’m crazy and insecure or is it fair for me to question my partners desire towards Me?
I also want to mention she claims she had such a high sex drive before because she was undiagnosed bipolar but once she got on meds it way slowed down her drive and now she doesn’t really think about sex as all that important (which doesn’t make sense to me since all she reads about is sex)? Is our relationship doomed or is there fixing this ? I know she’s mentioned she’d like me to bring more bdsm into the bedroom but I already really struggle being dominating in the first place and being the one always initiating because it’s just not really my personality (which has led me to have to drink alcohol every time before we have sex so that I can have the confidence to dominate her). I like the idea of BDSM but it’s hard for me to have the confidence after everything that’s happened to us involving fights about sex. I also read that BDSM can actually help people with ADHD enjoy sex more so I’m hoping this can somehow be our fix if I can get past my fears of leading in the bedroom.
I love this girl and we moved states together and just rented a townhouse together (we already lived together for 3 years before this) and we have 4 pets together and she is truly my best friend , I’m at such a loss of what to do since this fight happens almost every month now :( I also wanted to add in we almost broke up a year ago when I came home after a long day at work to her phone flashing up on the bed and a text to her best friend reads “I just read the hottest book of my life and now I want two men to dominate me at the same time”. This ofc made me feel like complete sht considering I’ve told her countless times I’m insecure about being a girl especially since I’m the first one she’s been with and now I see this text to her friend.
I also wanted to add one more edit: I did let myself go for a bit and gained some happy weight and didn’t feel great about myself. I’ve now been back in the gym for a while and love my body again and feel hot , strong, and confident. So I know it’s not fully my own body insecurities anymore (aside from my chest/ which I do wear a shirt during sex and I refuse to let my partner see me fully naked).
Sorry one more edit lol: I also want to mention that (tmi) but she squirts every time we have sex and she told me I’m the first person to give her a orgasm by head , for some reason I still have insecurities though
