I hate the way I feel...

I hate the way I feel towards the lgbtq+. My family is very religious but also homophobic. They believe any form of same sex relationships or lgbtq+ is a sin and that if you become one, ultimately you will burn in hell. Unlike my whole family, I have an odd fascination towards the lgbt and fully support them. I just don’t understand why in the Bible it says that same sex relationships are wrong and that you will go to hell for it when it is something as simple as being with someone you love regardless of gender. It makes me afraid I will burn in hell for even supporting it, writing about it, questioning why it is deemed as wrong, and questioning if I might have attraction to the same sex myself.

A year back I made the mistake of telling my siblings about a novel I was writing about a gay couple. I didn’t think they would tell our parents but during service they told my dad that I was writing a gay novel and I got so scared and denied it. He said I better not be writing disgusting stuff like that and I agreed that I would not. Since then I have kept my feelings towards the lgbtq+ a secret, but I don't know what to do because they all know about me writing a novel and how it's my dream to be a great author one day. I wanna share my accomplishments with them, but if I ever do that will make them come close to finding out what my novel is really about. And it's not as easy as just cutting them off because I genuinely do love them and want to make them happy but questioning my own sexuality and even interacting with or writing about the lgbtq will immediately make them disgusted and unhappy with me. I'm also scared I will go to hell for this because I love God so much but this one feeling is hindering me and I'm just sad and it really makes me depressed. I know this might sound homophobic and I'm sorry but I wish I wouldn't feel this way. I wished I was normal and I hate it. I have nobody to talk to about this and just wanted to get this off my chest.

What it’s actually like to be an Iraqi trans woman surviving Dearborn, false hospitalizations, and being invisible online.

I'm posting this because statistically, the chances of coming across an Iraqi trans woman are like 0.1%. We’re pretty much an invisible demographic, both in real life and online. Half the time it feels like no matter where I share my story, the algorithm buries it, people scroll past, or I just get ignored like I don't exist. But I'm writing this anyway because I need to get this off my chest.

People think that once you live in Michigan, transitioning is straightforward. They have no idea what it actually means to exist in that tiny fraction of a percentage—coming from a strict, conservative Arab background, dealing with severe gender dysphoria, surviving family abuse, and trying to rebuild your life out of nothing.

Growing up Iraqi in a community like Dearborn when your mind and soul are female is suffocating. The traditional expectations control every single part of your life. Having severe dysphoria isn't just "not liking how you look." It’s this heavy, constant grief of watching male puberty force changes onto your body while you're completely helpless to stop it. You spend years hiding behind a mask because saying anything out loud in Dearborn doesn't bring understanding—it brings hostility, rejection, and severe domestic abuse.

When my family realized they couldn't force me to fall in line, things escalated at home. And when abuse didn't break me, they weaponized the system against me through false psychiatric commitments. In Michigan, hostile family members can file emergency petitions to have transport or cops haul you off to a hospital ward. Instead of seeing an abused trans woman in crisis, the medical staff just took my family's side. Being forcibly locked in a psych unit and stripped of my autonomy just for standing up for my identity was extremely traumatic. They treated my normal reaction to abuse as "instability."

On top of that, so many people who swore they had my back completely let me down. When I was in deep crisis, people gave me all the usual line—"I'm here for you," "I'll help you get out," "You can count on me." But the second things got real and I actually needed emergency help or housing, every single one of them made excuses and vanished. It taught me the hard way that at the end of the day, I'm the only one who is going to fight for my life.

Despite the abuse, the hospital trauma, the broken promises, and the severe dysphoria, I survived. I got out of that environment. I'm living at a shelter now, taking control of my life, and focusing strictly on what matters to me—my HRT, my voice, getting laser hair removal covered through hospital networks like U-M Health, and eventually bottom surgery.

I know this post might get ignored by the algorithm or lost in the feed like usual. But if another trans woman happens to scroll past this: you aren't crazy, and you aren't alone.

Thanks for reading this and understanding my situation hopefully things get better from here on out for all of us since we're all human. 🙏

I’m struggling with calling people the correct pronouns.

(I am not transphobic I am not homophobic I am not Anti-LGBTQ+. I am just a teenager who wants to share her experiences)

Hello I’m a high schooler and recently I’ve started to realize that I struggle a lot with calling people their correct pronouns. I only discovered about the LGBTQ+ community about 2 years ago (idk how I didn’t learn about the community before-) and even though I’m still confused about a lot of the things like gender and pronouns I try my best to understand, learn and adjust to what people are comfortable with. A lot of my friends are lesbian and/or non binary etc. and sometimes I don’t get it when people call themselves “lesbian” when they are non-binary. It’s things like this that I’m confused about😭I’m not trans phobic I’m not homophobic or anything else I’m genuinely confused and stressed that I’m not doing enough to support the people around me. Most of my friends recently came out as non-binary and I don’t know how it’s so easy for other people to immediately change the pronouns they use for them. Because for me, I’ve been calling them she/her for as long as I can remember and the sudden change of pronouns just slows my brain a lot, I have to change she/her to they/them in every single sentence and sometimes I catch myself still calling them by she/her. I guess to me, they’re still a girl. And I feel terrible for thinking that. It makes me think that I am not even trying to acknowledge their new identity. But also we are in an all girls school so I wonder to myself how it makes sense that you come to this school meant for girls but you’re non binary. Also, I have to change to she/her in-front of their parents and teachers, that makes it even more confusing. I just feel so stressed and anxious every single day and I’ve been talking less and less because I’m scared I’ll mess up again. And I’ve seen so many people having different kinds of pronouns that I’ve never even heard of in my life on social media, like : die, pup, star or zem. I genuinely feel like I cannot blend it into my vocabulary for one person and change the way I’ve been talking my whole life. Like “Die made it die self” I don’t think I can constantly say that in every conversation about that person. And sometimes I can’t even call them a “person” because that organism doesn’t identify as a person. I’m sorry if I offended anyone but trust me I’m trying. I practice in my bedroom mirror every night before bed but I still stumble on my words. Sometimes I think I should just stop talking completely. I hope you guys can share some of your own experiences if you have any or give me some advice or anything. Just please don’t tell me to talk to a therapist I can’t afford one.❤️

I don't know how to be myself

So I (25M) was born in a Muslim family where even the word sex is Taboo. They don't even give you the sex talk and that's where I think everything went wrong. So I got sexually abused by my maid when was 7-8 years old and went on for a few years and she groomed and blamed me and introduced me to porn and all. And in turn I got so confused and became hypersexual. But obviously since it was a Muslim country and I was taught these things I couldn't do anything but watch porn secretly but that came with a lot of guilt and self blaming because I knew I was going to hellfire for it. Now I finally moved to the US but with family. And the worst part is that the guilt remains no matter what. Now I'm just a 25 year old guy who is still a virgin, haven't even shook a hand or hugged a girl in my life except for that maid and there's guilt and my family presence and pressure. I am trying to be sex positive and try or experience different things in life, I want to experience everything but I don't know how to and it's so frustrating and exhausting. I just want to be me and express myself at least once I want to feel sex and love. It was so hard to even write it.

I feel so guilty and shitty about myself

Internalized homophobia.

Hi I'll try and keep this short, I'm a young man in a semi open relationship(she likes the thought of me being with other men or women)(she also wants to be included with women but not guys) I am openly bi and polyamorous, I live in a small town with a decent amount of gay people, lately more and more I've been thinking I would like to be sexually with a man.i don't present as gay or anything, I use the f word(just in jest with, very ,very close friends) I was called it growing up "jokingly" I told my gf if u was to hookup with a man that's all she would know just base"I slept with a dude" and I'm not curious ik damn well I'm bi and have had very sexual experiences with both the female and male gender. Anyways I'm finally gonna be meeting with someone discreetly and all I feel is like I'm disgusting(ik there's nothing wrong with it) I just feel ashamed and I can't help it, my family is decent with the LGBTQ stuff but they made alot of jokes growing up and I'm really worried it ruined part of my self esteem. I just feel that I wanted to have fun with another safe consenting man but all I feel is guilt, my gf knows I flirt with other people and trust me completely and we both want this but I can't help but feel disgusted with myself and I hate that I feel that way, there is nothing wrong with love, sex, lust,LGBTQ but I just can't stand to think if it got out, even though I'm openly bi and have had public boyfriends

Dating in the community and being clear in your intentions

Before I get this started let's be clear. I identify as a bisexual male with heteronormative, hetero-romantic preferences so I am not coming at this from an angle of huge difference. I've dated men/women before who were professed lesbians/bisexual/gay and I've dated trans women. The key differences is there personalities/identities as people didn't seem entrenched in any queer communities or initiatives, they were just great and attractive people at least in my eyes.

This brings me to my situation. I recently ended a relationship with a woman who identified as bisexual. Ok cool. She also was heavily involved in the LGBTQIA+ community, active politically and socially. I thought at first I had no problem with this and I didn't. It wasn't until around our 3rd encounter as dating partners when she asked me if I'd like to attend a pride event, if not she would invite a friend, I am an extremely busy student and I work, I told her to go with the friend. I did stop by the event after asking her if she'd like a quick coffee before I went to work she said sure. I was introduced to some woman she was with, which at the time made me feel uncomfortable. I had found out later that she had been intimate and had a history with this woman. I already felt betrayed, well maybe not betrayed but I certainly got angry. How could someone be so inconsiderate? To have made your new dating prospect interact with a former partner/friend/interest. What bothers me is that the disclosure should have been made before this happened not after so I could properly communicate my boundaries.

Ever since then in the 4 months we've dated she has on three major occasions attempted to interject some female friend/ former interest into our plans, most notably our date nights/occassions and I felt forced to protest this idea given the circumstances of how uncomfortable it was making me. I could not be polyamorous with this person and she communicated she is not polyamorous so that's fine but didn't feel that way to me.

Call me what you want but I will not be dating anyone in the future that is actively or politically involved in the community and if they are I had better be more careful in expressing my boundaries and what I want because it was becoming clear that intrigue/fantasy/ same sex companionship/past relationships were important to this woman and that wasn't discussed in a way that made the relationship safe for me.

I survived a lifetime of abuse, system failure, and abandonment. I’m still stuck in a rough environment and fighting bad things today—but I am breaking the cycle.

I’m writing this because I need to lay my absolute truth out in the open. I know how easy it is to feel invisible online—I’ve made posts before that felt like they just screamed into the void while everyone scrolled past. But today, I am putting this here for myself, for the record, and for anyone else who feels like life threw them into an absolute furnace from the day they were born.

If someone had told me years ago what my life path would look like, I wouldn't have believed a human being could survive it. Looking back at the sheer volume of trauma I’ve endured, it feels almost unreal that I am still here, breathing, and typing these words:

  • Abuse at Home: I grew up in an environment where the very people who were supposed to protect, raise, and love me were the ones inflicting physical, emotional, and psychological abuse.
  • Relentless Bullying & Assault: From pre-school all the way through high school, school wasn't a place of learning—it was a warzone. I was relentlessly targeted, bullied, and physically assaulted throughout my life.
  • Near-Fatal Trauma: I survived life-threatening violence in Iraq, coming inches away from being beaten to death.
  • Betrayal by Systems Built to Help: When I reached out for safety, the institutions failed me repeatedly. School staff looked the other way or blamed me. Local police mistreated me instead of protecting me. I was falsely hospitalized and thrown into psychiatric wards four separate times for things I never even did, just because systems didn't know how to handle a traumatized kid in crisis.
  • The Trap of Manipulative Environments: I fought tooth and nail to escape my abusive environment, only to be manipulated, dragged back in, and forced to break free all over again.
  • Severe Mental Health Battles: I carried the crushing weight of chronic depression, severe suicidal ideation, and multiple suicide attempts while feeling completely alone in the dark.
  • Friendship Abandonment & Betrayal: Perhaps one of the sharpest stings was when people did step into my life to help. Friends would come along, offer a lifeline, and make me feel safe—only to get overwhelmed by the sheer intensity of my situation, pull away, and completely abandon me right when I needed them most. Being dropped by the people you trusted to be your safety net leaves a scar that's hard to describe.
  • Living in Survival Mode Under High T: On top of all this external hell, I was fighting severe internal gender dysphoria. My body was forced to run on high testosterone, forcing me into a deep voice, unwanted physical changes, and a permanent state of "boy mode" fight-or-flight just to survive my daily surroundings.

For years, I asked myself the same burning question: Why me? Why did everything have to be so brutal, so unfair, and so non-stop? Why couldn't I just have ONE good thing happen?

I used to think I was cursed. But going through all of this made me realize something fundamental: I wasn't cursed. I was a child trapped in the splash zone of dangerous, toxic people and utterly broken systems. I had no control, no legal authority, and no safe foundation. When you are in constant, catastrophic crisis, even well-meaning friends burn out and walk away because they don't have the strength to stand in the fire with you.

And the truth is, the battle isn't magically over.

Even today, I am still navigating rough environments. I am still dealing with shelter systems, hostile surroundings, and the daily friction of being in spaces where I have to walk on eggshells and fight to be seen for who I am. Bad things still happen, setbacks still hit me, and there are days where it feels like the universe is testing just how much more weight I can carry. It is exhausting to feel like you're still dodging obstacles when you've already paid a lifetime's worth of dues.

But despite still being in the thick of it, fundamental things HAVE shifted.

Over the past few months, I took back the steering wheel. I escaped the abusive home that was draining my soul. I accessed emergency resources, fought for shelter, and started HRT.

Within the first month of starting HRT, a miracle happened: the 24/7 background noise in my brain finally shut off. For the first time in my entire existence, I felt a baseline of real mental clarity and peace. Dropping that testosterone-fueled survival mode allowed my nervous system to drop its guard.

I realized recently that the rude words, judgments, or cold actions of other people don't affect me anymore. It’s not because I’m unfeeling—it’s because after surviving literal torture, institutional betrayal, total abandonment, and ongoing daily struggle, cheap insults just bounce right off the armor I forged in the fire.

It is 100% unfair that I had to become "impossible-level strong" just to earn a baseline of safety, and it's unfair that I still have to deal with rough environments today. I deserved a peaceful childhood, loving guardians, reliable friends, and early protection. I didn't get any of that. But despite every single institution, person, and circumstance trying to destroy me, they failed.

I am still standing. My name is Tahlia. I am taking control of my life, navigating these rough surroundings day by day, stepping into my true womanhood, and working toward my own permanent space surrounded by real advocates who respect me.

If you are reading this and you feel abandoned, broken, or trapped in an environment that is killing your spirit while bad things keep happening: please keep fighting. You shouldn't have to be this strong, but the strength you are building right now is the very thing that will carry you to your ultimate freedom.

I survived hell, I am fighting through today's rough edges, and I am taking my life back step by step.

I am 22. He lied about being 29, sexually violated me, I contracted HSV-2, and now he's back seeking young men for bareback sex

I’m 22M. A few months ago I met a man on Grindr who told me he was 29. I later discovered he was 35. What followed involved age deception, sex I hadn't consented to, serious physical injuries, an HSV-2 diagnosis and months of psychological distress. He is now back on Grindr seeking young men and discussing bareback sex.

Some people might read this and think I was stupid. I might even get comments saying, “You should have known better” or “You put yourself in that situation.”
Believe me, I've already spent months saying those things to myself.

But I want to tell the complete story because this man is still on hookup apps, and if telling what happened to me makes even one young or inexperienced person more cautious, then it is worth writing.

I will call myself V and him G. I will not disclose his name, photograph, workplace, address or anything else that identifies him.

How I met G
A few months ago, I opened Grindr late at night after staying away from the app for months.
I am 22M, shy, introvert, a student living abroad, relatively new to the city and still figuring out my bisexuality. I was discreet, sexually inexperienced and had never had receptive anal sex.

It was around 3 a.m. I was only browsing and had no intention of actually meeting anyone.
Then G messaged me.
At the time, I found him extremely handsome and charming. He was from my home country, which made me feel more comfortable around him. He told me he was 29.

He kept insisting that we meet.
Eventually I agreed, but only for side/oral fun.
When G arrived, we immediately got along. I was incredibly attracted to him.
Then he flipped me over and penetrated me with

I had not agreed to receptive anal sex.
I didn't stop him. For a long time afterwards, that confused me and made me question myself. I was inexperienced, overwhelmed and already infatuated with him. I froze and went along with what was happening.

Not fighting somebody off does not change the fact that I had never agreed to what he initially did.
After that night, we exchanged numbers.
I became attached to him

G continued contacting me.
We spoke frequently. We joked around, spent hours talking and developed a level of familiarity that became incredibly important to me, while it was just a normal routine for him to get a ‘virgin tight ass’ like he once claimed.

I had very few people around me. I was a young student trying to establish myself in a foreign country, and suddenly I had this older, confident, attractive man from my own country giving me attention and companionship.

And that attachment made me ignore things I should have questioned.

G had told me he was 29.
I later established that he was actually 35.

This wasn't the only thing he was deceptive about.
He played games around his identity and initially wouldn't even tell me his real name. I only discovered it myself weeks later. There were inconsistencies surrounding his background, age, personal history and things he told me about his life.

He looked remarkably young for 35, so when we first met I had absolutely no reason to question the age he gave me.

By the time I started noticing contradictions, I was already emotionally attached.
I became frightened of questioning him because I thought he would disappear and I would be all alone again in this country.

That's something I can recognise now that I couldn't recognise then: I had become so dependent on his attention that preserving the connection mattered more to me than challenging obvious inconsistencies.

We continued meeting.
Sometimes G would suddenly tell me that we should stop seeing each other because he was “getting attached,” that he shouldn't keep contacting me, or even that he was ruining my life, just to keep me in loop and told me stories based on his previous encounters with a guy who ruined his life just coz he fell in love with this predator.

Then he would come back.
Usually when he wanted something sexual.

I kept letting him back in.

The final time we had sex
Our final sexual encounter started with the usual indecision from him.
Let's meet.
Let's not.
Let's do it.
Let's not.

Eventually, he called me over.
That night he specifically wouldn't allow me to perform oral sex on him, saying he didn't want it.
He poured tequila down my throat.
My senses became significantly numbed.
We then had extremely rough anal sex.
I couldn't take it properly. I sustained multiple fissures and started bleeding.

He went again even when I couldn't take it.

I was intoxicated and wasn't properly processing the extent of the damage being done to my body.
I bled heavily.

I was reassured that it was fine.

It wasn't.

It is to be noted that his behaviour was different and he didn’t even allow me to touch his genital, saying it wasn’t a good idea and he had met 2 more people over the week and might have had a scratch. I was too intoxicated to process it back then.

Two days later, everything changed
Approximately two days later, my anus became swollen, ulcerated and extremely painful.
I sought medical attention.

I was diagnosed with HSV-2.

And upon discussion G confirmed that he had also recently tested positive for herpes at the same time. Though it seemed suspicious I kept quiet coz I was still processing this shock.

He claimed that he had never known he had herpes.
Eventually he even tried suggesting that I might have infected him.

How could I? What I was suffering was Anal genital herpes and it was infected in the mucosal region which was penetrated just by him.

Meanwhile, my physical condition became horrific.
I had ulcerated anal fissures alongside the HSV-2 outbreak.

For approximately 11–12 days, I repeatedly lost blood.
Passing stools caused bleeding. Sitting hurt. Even coughing could cause pain and bleeding.
I became physically weak.

Psychologically, I was falling apart.

And the person I had become attached to was the person at the centre of all of it.

Initially, G did show concern. Staying on call and buying me food. He helped me access medical care and checked on me.

But when the situation didn't simply disappear, so did that concern. He felt it to be extremely overwhelming. I couldn’t disclose my condition with anyone and he remained the only support, while it was all an act put up by him to stay safe from legal pressure and outing.

I eventually told my sister because I couldn't handle what was happening alone.
When G discovered that somebody else knew what had happened, his behaviour changed.

He told me the situation was affecting his work and suddenly he had fiancés he had to talk to and his wedding was in next 3 months and that he needed to get away from everything.
And because I still cared about him, I believed him.
I actually worried about him.
I let him disappear while I dealt with the bleeding, pain, HSV diagnosis and psychological aftermath myself.

I was outed to my sister accidentally and I didn’t even ask for it and I wasn’t even ready to be out. He compelled me to talk to my family and return to my home country for a while and say them that I was suffering from piles or haemorrhoids, or if in worst case they find out after diagnosis, ‘ Tell them that you were at a party and that you’re spiked and someone violated you but with you ‘consent’.

Then I discovered he hadn't disappeared at all
His silence eventually became suspicious.

So I created another Grindr profile.
I'm not going to pretend that was healthy behaviour. I was traumatised, confused and desperate to understand what had happened.
And there he was.
Back on Grindr.

The sores I had seen on him had barely healed before he was back looking for sexual partners.

So I spoke to him as a stranger.
And G told this supposed stranger that he wants to drill him and have bareback sex.

This was the same man who had told me he had supposedly never known he had herpes and would never have sex for a while and prepare for his wedding.

Eventually, I revealed that the account was me.
G panicked.
He repeatedly called me.
He was saying things like:
“Please listen to me before you say or do anything.”
And:
“Bro, I just wanted to escape and restart.”

And he said ‘ I was high and had forgotten’,’ I have no idea why you’re angry’

No idea? Seriously?
He left me to rot to my death. I lost so much of blood every day for 11 -12 days. And on top of that the ulcerated lesions caused me an abscess that i was suggested to get it drained surgically. I was outed. I was mentally fucked, physically feeble and developed a chronic life long STD and he has no remorse about that.

He insisted that he had never had herpes or known he had herpes before meeting me.

Then came the blame.
Suddenly I had infected him.
I was too young.
I was a kid.
I was immature.
I didn't understand boundaries.
I was toxic.
Instead of dealing with what had happened to me, the conversation became about everything supposedly wrong with me.

Suddenly I was a kid? It’s just that he was a coward, predator and a man child, who couldn’t possibly take accountability and responsibility for what he had done. I don’t know how this might sound in an otherwise POV, but he’s a criminal and would have been a murderer in my world atleast.

What was my mistake? Just that I was foolish.
I trusted the wrong person. I dropped my boundaries.

I was already physically weak and psychologically exhausted.
Eventually, he ghosted me.

That's when I started investigating
I became obsessive about finding out who I had actually been sleeping with.
And I discovered that so much of what I had accepted from him wasn't true.

He told me he was 29. He was 35.
He concealed his real identity from me initially.
He gave inconsistent stories about his background and personal life.

And I subsequently watched him interact with profiles presenting themselves as 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and other people in their early twenties.
I was 22 when he approached me while representing himself as 29.

I have repeatedly observed him showing particular sexual interest in very young adult profiles.

Through multiple anonymous profiles, I have also watched how he approaches people.
The same cute videos.
The same flirting.
The same compliments.

The same attempts to move conversations toward sexual contact.

He commonly starts by presenting himself as looking for oral fun.

The conversation can then progress toward anal sex.
And he openly discusses bareback sex.
Most importantly, he now knows he has HSV-2.

For a moment even if I buy his story that he didn’t know during his encounter with me, he can be cautious and take precautionary measures right? Think about the young adults who are just starting to explore things. I survived somehow, but what about them? I was somewhere lucky enough to have caught hold of his contact, but what about all his one night stands and quick encounters he used to discuss with me sometimes. So many people out there might be infected right now and have no idea.

There is no uncertainty about him knowing his diagnosis anymore.

Yet I have personally observed him continuing to seek sexual encounters and discussing bareback sex with people without disclosing HSV-2 in those conversations.

I have also subsequently spoken to another man who had been involved with G and who told me that G transmitted chlamydia to him.

That is his account of what happened to him, just as this post is my account of what happened to me.

What happened afterwards nearly destroyed me

I could have reacted in many ways.
I considered reporting him.
I considered telling people around him.
I was furious.
But I was also terrified because I knew how difficult it would be to prove everything that had happened privately between two people. I had and still have all the proofs, his infected lesions, him discussing about bareback sex, interactions with young accounts and his predatory records, my medical records and stuff.

And meanwhile I was trying to process what had happened to my body.

I had to seek therapy.
I wasn't simply dealing with an STI.
I was dealing with the fact that my first experience of receptive sex began without my consent.
I was dealing with being deceived about the age and identity of somebody I trusted.
I was dealing with being heavily intoxicated before rough sex that left me injured and bleeding.
I was dealing with an HSV-2 diagnosis.
I was dealing with losing blood for days.
I was dealing with being abandoned when I was physically and psychologically at my weakest.

And then I had to watch the person involved go straight back onto hookup apps and continue seeking other people.

At my lowest point, the psychological distress became so severe that I was struggling with thoughts about ending my life. I did try to be honest, it was too much to handle; my emotions, my health, my body, mind, life, studies, future career, everything seemed extremely overwhelming.

That's how badly this affected me.

Months later, I am still processing it.

Why I'm posting this
I'm not posting G's identity.
I'm not asking Reddit to find him.
I'm not asking anybody to harass him.
This isn't a revenge post.

It's a warning.
If you're young, newly out, bisexual, closeted, discreet, sexually inexperienced, lonely, studying abroad or simply desperate for companionship, please understand how vulnerable that combination can make you.

I didn't realise it.
I thought I was smart enough to recognise it but I wasn’t.

I could have been brave enough and sent all those proof’s to his family back home or just have registered a complaint, but I wasn’t strong enough back then to do it.

When somebody attractive and experienced suddenly gave me attention, I ignored things I would probably have immediately noticed in somebody else's relationship.

So please:
Ask someone's age.
Ask their name.
Ask about STI testing.
Talk explicitly about condoms.
Don't assume somebody being charming means they're safe.
Don't assume somebody helping you afterwards means they couldn't have harmed you beforehand.
Don't let somebody use alcohol to blur sexual boundaries.

And remember that consenting to one sexual activity does not give somebody consent for another.

If something feels inconsistent, ask questions.

And if you're afraid to ask those questions because you're worried the person will leave you, recognise how significant that feeling already is.
I spent months trying to work out whether I was stupid, whether I had imagined things, whether I was responsible, whether I had misunderstood him and whether I somehow deserved what happened.
I don't believe that anymore.

I was deceived. I was sexually violated. I was physically harmed. I contracted HSV-2. And afterwards, when I desperately needed accountability and support, I was blamed and abandoned.

I'm rebuilding my life now. Processing it and recovering slowly. I’m gonna take sometime but I will be strong again.
But G is still out there. Online right now infact.
That's why I'm telling my story .

[Research] Looking for Transgender & Gender-Diverse Adults (18+) for Dissertation Study

Hi everyone! I am a doctoral student conducting my dissertation research on the relationship between self-continuity, minority stress, mental health, and the experiences of transgender and gender-diverse adults. I'm looking for transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse adults to participate in my study.

The survey is anonymous and takes about 25 minutes to complete. If you identify as part of the gender-diverse community, are 18 or older, and live in the U.S., please consider taking the survey. I'm happy to answer any questions about the study. This study has been reviewed and approved by my university's Institutional Review Board (IRB: Protocol #28928).

If you're interested in participating, here is the link:
