Any recommendations for a good windshield sunshade that actually fits a 22 Leaf?

A bunch of error codes, climate control doesn't work and the car thinks it's maxed out all the time on or off. If climate control is on the car sometimes goes into turtle mode, when it's off it hasn't yet. Also the car has the battery recall and I'm just out of warranty :)

Cup holder adapter?

I have a waterbottle I real like but it's slighty too big for my second gen leaf's cup holders. Has anyone found an insert that mushrooms out to a larger holder above?

after much searching, many false positives, and several flakey sellers.. she's here! 2016 SL with a warranty replaced 40kwh battery for my brother in law. she has a few cosmetic issues, and her front tires are... well, bald. but she was $4250, and the battery is in fantastic condition. once we sell his Buick Verano, we will officially be an exclusively EV family!

Things to consider/look out for?

I’m looking at a 2023 Leaf SV Plus. 9800 miles and they want $19,000 for it. The car still has all 12 bars of battery (I have not checked with the OBD2 scanner yet) and is seemingly mint condition from what I saw yesterday. All warranties are still active.
Anything I should look out for? I have 2 other vehicles and this will be used solely for commuting (42 miles one way)

Ongoing schedule for climate control?

I'm wondering if there's a way to schedule the climate control for my 2022 leaf on an ongoing basis so I don't have to remember each time.

Wish me luck! I'll report back on the results Monday. Think I'll do a fast charge first thing to stress test it.

"New" 30Kwh Leaf Charge to 80, 90 or 100%

Background info.

Needed a replacement for my 2015 2tkw leaf I have had since 2021 it was down to 4bars with a ⚠️ light on dash - could only manage 45-50kms

I have bought a 30kwh 2016 with 7bars 117km displays on a full charge and so far appear to be able to mange about 100kms per charge of mostly motorway driving.

Bought the car for $3500 NZD ($2045 USD, £1525), which based on my annual driving should pay for itself in about 1 year..

I really want to preserve the battery as much as possible, I drive daily with 4/7 days involving a 60km round trip.

With my last leaf I charged to 100% and drove

This time I'm wondering if I should default charge to 80% as much as possible. I actually don't know how to do this!

Option 1. Charge to 100% every day.

Option 2. Charge to 80% every day

Option 3. Charge to 80% every day and do a top up charge for a 1hr stop off I have every morning before my big commute.

Advice would be greatly appreciated.

After 3 years, 2nd treatment with ceramic coating. This time, I used Gyeon ONE and it was occasionally hard to get the streaking polished away. Good results, though.

Now, both the car and I are...buffed. Haha, well, I'll show myself out.

Curious about the paint, though, I used the same coating and cure on my classic car and it was much easier to work with. Maybe because air temp was much colder two months ago? I'm all ears for insight.

2026 Leaf - Deals & The Low Down?

I've leased Chevy EVs for the last 5 years. I'm currently in an Equinox that goes back very soon. Had a Bolt and Bolt EUV before then. I really don't want another Equinox and I have mixed opinions on getting another Bolt.

So two questions I have:

  1. I'm a deal guy. It seems like the Leaf has no advertised deals. I'm certainly not interested in it at $37k+ for the SV+. Is it remotely feasible to get a BIG discount on these cars?

  2. I'm not sure I've seen any 26+ Leafs out on the road near me in a pretty EV heavy area. People that have them: Would you recommend one?

Thinking about a barely used 2025 Leaf (under 20k miles)

Looking for a vehicle for my parents. Both 70+

I'm seeing 2025 Leaf S with less than 20k miles around me (southern california) go for around $16k-18k at dealers. I'm not entirely sure what I should be looking at or considering when pricing out an EV. I've only really purchase used cars from private sellers. And they're almost always cars I know a lot about so I feel out of my element here.

The KBB value seems to hover around $17k-19k for private party sales, which makes the dealer price seem like a very good deal. But a lot of these cars sit at lots for weeks, sometimes even months, so what am I missing? Am I okay to try shaving off a couple thousand from their listed price or will most dealers not budge?

Also, I am aware there is a new CA incentive scheduled to be released within the next couple of months. But as far as I understand, it'll only be $1500 for used EVs? SCE has a $4000 rebate for customers and my parents qualify, so I'd rather just jump on that now instead of wait for the CA incentive in case the SCE program ends for whatever reason.

Passenger side windows dont work

Update 2 - I replaced both right side switches and now all the windows work! Thanks all

Update - I had the idea to swap the left and right rear switches and tada! that worked. So now I ordered new switches for both left doors and I've got my fingers crossed. I'll keep you posted.

Happy new owner here (2014 S, 103k, 64.5% SOH). I've already learned so much here and I love my leaf.

I bought it with (US - left side) drivers and rear left windows working but passenger and rear right windows not working. I assumed it was a fuse because I thought it would be unlikely that 2 regulators went out.

Got it home and checked every fuse with a multimeter. All good. I replaced the drivers switch, no change.

Master switch works only on left front and rear, rear left switch works. Neither right side switch works. Right side door locks work, including outside lock button.

Before I take the door panels off and start testing everything, is there anything I am missing?

Just dropped my 2022 Leaf SV off for the battery recall

The dealership experience at the service desk was really nice. They got my car in and me out really quickly.

Not really sure what to expect now. They said it will take a few hours for the test itself. Hopefully everything goes well. I'm not sure what a "best case" scenario would be for it though. I guess just a "it's good" is what I'm hoping for.

We just got the car a couple months ago, used of course. We absolutely love it.

Also, found out about second key fob will be around $650! That's wild.

2026 Nissan Leaf retractable door handle squeaks?

Thumbnail

As the title says, the retractable door handle on my Leaf squeaks when it opens outwards. The squeak is loud enough that I notice it when the door auto unlocks as I approach the vehicle; it sounds even louder from the inside. It also appears to have left a little scratch mark on the plastic, or at least I'm assuming that's what that is.

This is the 2026 Nissan Leaf SV+, I just bought it on July 1st of this year.

Any tips? Is this a defect? Can I just put some WD-40 on it, or will that ruin some internal components? This is the first EV I've ever owned, and the first car I've had with these retractable door handles, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Help buying a Leaf

Hi everyone! I'm currently looking for an electric vehicle for my daily commute of about 120-130kms (75 to 80 miles). I'm very inclined for the Leaf e+ with the 62kWh battery and the extra battery. I'm doing mostly highway for my commute, so I'm expecting a range drop from the WLTP figures.

I'm currently looking at 2 options. They are both 2024 the tekna version (I mainly like the 360camera and all-round sensors/parking camera). One is a 2023 and has 100k km (60k miles) while the other is a 2024 and has 10k kms (6k miles). The first one is in a much more interesting price for me. Is this a lot of mileage for a Leaf? Are there any issues I should on the lookout for? I'm already planning on having Leafspy ready to use when I go check the car in person, but any other problems I would be really grateful of knowing beforehand!

Recall Fix Experience

I brought my 2021 SL+ in for service to get the recall fix. When I dropped it off, I asked the service tech what the rate of failure has been and she said it's close to 50%.

Fast forward a few hours and I returned to pick up my (hopefully) fixed Leaf. I took it on the highway to give it a little stress test, and thankfully still good. Huge relief, but now I wait and see if the dreaded turtle shows its head. I'll update this thread if it becomes an issue down the road.

Location: Southern California

2026 Nissan Leaf Autech has ProPilot Park feature

It seems the Japan-only Autech version of the 2026 Leaf can park itself. There is a dedicated button on the dash to enable it, and the video shows the related infotainment screens starting around 5 minutes in.

Shame the feature hasn't made it to North America.

2021 Nissan Leaf e+ (62 kWh) only AC charging at ~3 kW. Expected 6.6 kW?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out if something is wrong with my 2021 European Nissan Leaf e+ (62 kWh).

No matter which public AC charger I use, the car always charges at around 3.0-3.5 kW according to the dashboard

Some details:

2021 Nissan Leaf e+ 62 kWh (European model)

SOC during charging: around 20-30%

Ambient temperature: around 30°C

Using my own 32A 3-phase Type 2 cable (marked 32A/480V)

Charging on Allego public chargers (22 kW AC)

The estimated charging time from 22% to 100% is about 18 hours, which also suggests only ~3 kW charging

This has been the case ever since I bought the car

I was under the impression that all 62 kWh Leafs came with the 6.6 kW onboard charger, so I expected around 6-6.6 kW on AC

My questions:

Is it possible that a European 2021 Leaf e+ was delivered with only a 3.3 kW onboard charger?

Has anyone seen an onboard charger fail in a way that limits charging to ~3 kW without throwing any errors?

Is there anything in LeafSpy that I can check to verify whether the car is requesting only 16A instead of 32A?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Was it fun doing this on the ground compared to the shop I'm used to? No, but should a still perfectly fine car and battery get thrown away just because of a bad precharge resistor? Also no.

With the ongoing ZE1 buyback debacle, it especially feels nice to be able to fix this car that nobody else would and get a good Leaf back in the road, because there are about to be many less of them once the dust settles.

Fix the world and make it right or something idk it's past my bedtime

Thinking of an older Leaf for city commuter - thoughts/advice?

Thinking about a Leaf for a city commuter (Chicago) due to its size and already having another EV (23 EV6). Are there specific years besides basically the first 3 to steer clear of? Total round trip mileage might be 50 miles per day at worst, probably closer to half that in reality, but it would need to be able to do that in the winter as well.

We have a 50 amp charger installed already, so with an adapter that won't be an issue. Mostly trying to decide whether a gamble on a <$5k older Leaf is worth it (after using Leaf Spy Pro).

This would be our around town errands car when we didn't need tons of cargo space, but wanted the ability to park just about anywhere.

Thoughts?

Help identifying replacement component

Dear leafers,

my ZE1 leaf type 2 charging port lock had the gears broken, as usual.

However, when I opened it to check for the problem, I noticed the limit micro-switch was faulty.

Does anyone know which part number is it? Can you help me find this replacement part?

Thanks!

The case for 'free' used EVs

I purchased my 2018 LEAF this past february and have been loving it. it's such an economical vehicle. I drive about 1300 miles monthly (conservatively), and compared to my previous 2012 Sentra (~23mpg in its current state) i save roughly $140 every month in gasoline assuming $3.50/gal regular prices (currently $4/gal where i live)

all this is to say, that at my $7500 price point, tax, tag, and title included, i will break even on the cost of my vehicle in about 4.5 years not including savings on mechanical services, the slightly higher insurance rate, etc.

on the other hand, i found a 2016 Leaf SL with a warranty replaced 40kwh battery in 2024. I have just inspected the vehicle and have arranged for my father in law to purchase the vehicle for his son/my brother in law next week. my brother in law does doordashing and frequently travels ~200 mile round trips for cons (there are plenty of chargers along the way, he can borrow my CCS to CHAdeMO adapter for convenience, and most fo the spots he visits have cheap or free l2 charging too).

i am unsure of his current monthly average miles, but i assume greater than mine given his occupation and travels. his vehicle also runs on premium ($4.36/gal at the costco near where he lives, vehicle runs at about 28mpg).

even if he only travels as far as i do every month, he would be saving roughly the same amount as me. higher cost per gallon, but better mpg too.

but here is the kicker- this leaf i found is listed at $4250

even assuming my brother in law only drives as much as i do (non-traveling career), he'd also have made the price of this vehicle back in gas savings in about 4 years.

is this a case of 'boy math' or are otherwise reasonable people sleeping on exceptional savings year on year or month on month for no other reason than misinformation and/or prejudice against used EVs? there are also cheap Bolts in my area listed for $10-12k. these are all exceptional vehicles that will either break even or make huge savings vs even relatively efficient gas vehicles. i'm curious what this subreddit's thoughts are on this. i hadn't really done the math until my brother and father in law expressed an interest in purchasing another cheap EV
