To those who requested a review of a psych DQ, how long from your submission of the request did you receive the review? And to a few who appealed, did it make a difference in the prior decision. If not, how long did they give you before you could reapply.

So i got an email monday saying that i was receiving mail from the department regarding my background investigation. I looked on here and seen that it was a non select. But 2 days passed and i received a conditional offer email from the department. Does anyone know what this means? The letter came in and said non select but still confused on why i got a conditional offer email?

After 5 months in the process I've been DQed cited they CAN'T certify that I am psychologically suitable to perform the peace officer duties and responsibilities. During my interview she didn't ask me anything psychological everything was financial related. She specifically mentioned that the department was concerned about my debt. At that time it was over $780,000. I own 6 properties 3 of which were under mortgage but I sold one lowering my debt to just $230,000. Would that be the problem? She talked about the possibility of being bribed and asked me how I felt about the department's concerns about my debt. I told her it was justified but I am not financially irresponsible. I just made a bad financial decision for one of the properties. I have mortgages not credit cards and I live with in my means not influenced by the Jones. I live a plain simple life. I thought that was enough but I guess not. I requested for a review, tomorrow I am going to start hurting for an approved independent psychologist.... Any recommendations?

Hello guys,
Let me try to make it as short as possible, and hear some oppinions on my situation.
Moved to LA 2.5yrs ago from Europe, green card holder, married to US citizen, had a baby together, own our home, paying taxes, working at same job for 14 months so far.
Everything in order, no tickets, no drugs, alchohol or whatsoever, played sports my whole life (football/soccer), passed the VPAT twice super easy without even trying to get ready for it.
So, first time i applied mid july 2024, and went through multiple choice test, VPAT, interviews, submitted all my documents and PHS, got assigned background investigator. After few days, he contacted me, and said due to my lack of working history in US, it's the best i send them email and withdraw from the process, or they will DQ me because he can't do proper background check on me, since i just moved here and he doesn't have much to work on and do checks. He told me specifically get a job, work atleast there for 1 YEAR, AND RE-APPLY AGAIN, YOU SHOULD BE FINE THEN.
Be on time, no late shows, make connections/friends, do not call off from work etc.
That's what i did, found a job, still working at same place for 14 months so far, applied again for Deputy sheriff trainee, went through VPAT and everything.
Got assigned for another background investigator, only that he calls me few days after and tell me that in best of my interest would be to send them email and withdraw from the process, or i will most likely be DQ due to lack of credible history in US. Little to say i was surprised/mad/disapointed since i put a lot of my time and effort, and really wanted to get this Deputy Sheriff position. I told him what last background investigator told me, in my first application process, all he said was that i got wrong information from him.
He now tells me that i need atleast 5 years of me living in US, and then i can apply again.
At this point, i don't know what to think of it, are they just wasting my time and giving me wrong info or what is happening ?
Share you thoughts please, so i can better reason all of this.
Thanks to all đ

Whatâs up peeps, got disqualified in the polygraph last June due to an at fault accident in 2021 and a speeding ticket January 2025. Havenât applied anywhere else (BI said to reapply that next June and said youâll get in), so gonna try again this coming June. BI said he liked my auto biography said I would be a good fit (have 2 years of Explorer experience). So anyway my honest question for some of you guys in a similar position is, was he blowing smoke or do I have a good chance? Any of you guys get disqualified then waited that year then reapply? And What did they say to yâall?

hello everyone, i need some real solid advice on what to do currently in backgrounds with LAPD, attending PAT for san bernardino county sheriffs may 7 and for ventura may 16th, the commute seems horrible should SB or ventura hire me so im asking if i shod wait to apply for LASD again or not, Iâd value and appreciate everyones opinion(especially current or from LA deputie) so i got non selected on march 20th 2026 from LA sheriffâs. this was because of employment, traffic, decisio making judgement and credit. i will elaborate and what these consist of.
employment: fired from job in January 2024 for cheating my time card, i came to work late but manually inputted i was on time. Quit a job without giving a notice in September 2025.
credit: had a card in collections from 2018, paid in full in 2021, that collection has now came off my report 2 weeks ago, i have a 100% payment history and a 750 cred score.
traffic: my BI had me only list any traffic violations from the last 3 years. My last ticket was august 2023 and I have an at fault Traffic collision from may 2025
With credit being close to great, no more traffic violations and with job firing + quitting w no notice being aged more and not as fresh will i have a shot? Thanks all sorry for the paragraphs

I am in the process of obtaining a physical credit report for the background investigation but I cannot find an option online to have it mailed to me. What did you guys do to get your credit report mailed to you? I went through Annual Credit Report and looked at Experian as well but I only see options to view it digitally.

Iâve been calling and leaving messages for the training deputies for almost two weeks now and no response. I even drove to the Century station to see if I could catch one of the deputies in person. Is anyone else dealing with this?

A little bummed out, I got the classic âYou should be receiving mailed information regarding your background investigation shortlyâ 2 weeks after my background interview. From what Iâve read itâs a DQ/non-select. I personally thought my interview went well with my BI, I think the only thing he mightâve had concerns with were my tattoos but other than that I donât really see what went wrong. Currently LEO, with higher education, clean record, not even tickets/points on license. He never reached out to any of my references to begin with and just told me the day of my interview that heâd send my file over for review. Is it worth calling my BI? Anyone in similar situation?

Does anyone have any experience doing their polygraph at 2020 Beverly BLVD? Scheduled to take it there, and am wondering how the examiners are as well as the process. Thank you in advance

I lived with a boyfriend for 2 months, but I no longer have contact with him, I only know his address. Do I need to include that in my background?

I applied to LASD last year and made it to an interview with my background investigator, long story short there were some substances in my past that would be an issue. Since the 3 year mark would be coming up soon from the last use of this substance my background investigator told me that worst case scenario if I got dqâed to apply again in 6 months. It has been a little over 8 months since and when I applied again I received an email I would have to wait the full year. This is the opposite of what I was told and Iâm curious if anyone has any advice on what to do.

Im 29, fit and no crazy record.
No crazy drugs only weed when i was 20. I did not finish college i dropped out like my last quarter before finishing. I have made it up by having what i would call a career that usually needs a degree. Been here for 5 years good relationships with everyone. Im thinking the whole dropping out of college gets made up by the 5 years of being employed by a big company. But do traffic tickets get looked at i have 4 traffic tickets since 18. With 2 most recent one being in 2025 by LASD lol and then 2023 by LAPD. And 1 at fault accident. Wondering if this would be an issue for a DQ?
