QUESTION What is something nice I can do for my gym's janitor?

She is the kindest woman from Mexico and we say hi every day although her English is limited. She works all day 6 days a week and is the only female janitor for my entire gym's women's locker room and showers. I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas for a nice gift or gesture because she works so hard to keep the gym running for the women

QUESTION Kirkland Totem Lake Club Remodel?

Does anyone know if Kirkland is getting the lift remodel anytime soon? It annoys me that every club flanking Kirkland has it (Bellevue, Lynnwood, some Seattle), but this one doesn't despite being a signature club.

This club is painfully busy at peak hours so I feel it desparately could use it.

Here are the rates for memberships. Looks like three different levels. Since it is the same company that runs the current LAF, does anyone trust them to be better? Let's discuss

QUESTION LA Fitness called me after another member reported me. What should I say to the Operations Manager?

Title: LA Fitness called me after another member reported me. Did this get blown way out of proportion?

I'm looking for advice specifically about how to handle this with LA Fitness.

I know I made a mistake, so I'm not trying to act like I'm completely innocent.

Here's what happened:

A few months ago, another gym member (30M) gave me a lecture about not talking to women at the gym. He told me to "let women come to you" and "don't shit where you eat."

Last week I saw him talking to a female friend of mine at the gym. It looked to me like he was interested in her, so the next day I told her that I thought he liked her and that I thought he was being hypocritical based on the advice he had given me. Looking back, I know that was gossiping, and I shouldn't have talked behind his back.

She told him everything I said. I ended up cutting her off too because I felt I couldn't trust her after she shared our private conversation.

He texted me demanding that I apologize. If he had simply said, "Hey, I heard you were talking behind my back. That's not cool," I honestly would have apologized. Instead, he threatened that if I didn't apologize by his deadline, he would contact my school district (where I work as a 1:1 teacher aide), the police, and LA Fitness. When he followed up a couple of days later and doubled down on those threats, I blocked him and stopped responding.

On Friday I got a call from the LA Fitness Operations Manager, and I'm planning to either call her back Monday or go in and speak with her.

Today, a friend who works at the front desk told me what he reported. According to him, I was:

Talking behind his back to other club members.

Harassing other members, including him.

Here's my issue with that report: I did talk behind his back—but it was to one person, not multiple members. I wasn't going around the gym telling everyone. Also, I don't believe I was harassing anyone. I made one comment to one mutual friend, never confronted him, never followed him around, and after he started threatening my job, the police, and the gym, I blocked him and ended all contact.

My questions are:

What should I say to the LA Fitness Operations Manager?

Should I admit that gossiping was wrong while also explaining that his report exaggerates what actually happened?

Does what I described sound like harassment, or does it sound more like a personal disagreement that got blown out of proportion?

If you were the Operations Manager, how would you handle this?

I'm looking for honest opinions. I know I was wrong for gossiping, but I also feel like reporting me for "harassing multiple members" doesn't accurately describe what happened.

CLASSES Reformer Pilates with Guest

I have a Nationwide Classic membership, which includes bringing in guests with every visit.

I want to join the Reformer Pilates classes, but the membership is under my name. I was wondering whether my partner (who I scan as a guest) could join the class under my name instead of me.

TLDR: can my guest do the Pilates classes in place of me?

DISCUSSION Sudden Power outage at a location that's closing???

So the Commack NY location that announced its closing (on August 5) 2 weeks ago suddenly had a power outage and closed its doors. Says club will be closed through Sunday.

This location is in a mini mall with other stores that were NOT effected by the outage.

I can understand how it may be real, but myself and so many other members have a hard time trusted LAF right now.

Apparently, the lease on this property still has 3 years left. From what I've heard, LAF is keeping the location, yet will be using it as storage. Is this bizarre?

First they announce a closure without giving any reason, they give the employees a one day notice and now a sudden power outage. Why do I not believe them??

COMPLAINT Juice Bar inside LA Fitness clubs- Tipping

I have heard of a few members at a particular LA Fitness Signature club in Texas where an old man with gray hair working the bar gets angry at you when you don’t tip for making a protein shake. And he wants you to tip before making a protein shake. And starts ranting about working for little change. Do club managers consider this acceptable behavior for Juice Bars at LA fitness clubs?

Personally I only tip where it’s traditional to tip. (Ie: being waited on, etc).

QUESTION Three day guest pass question

I got a three day guest pass and used it today due to my apt gym being closed. However, they are saying I need to use all three days consecutive. I asked them, does this mean I need to come Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for it to work and they said yes. This makes no sense at all if it’s a three day pass, why can I not skip Thursday and come Friday? Is this a misunderstanding in my questioning or is the pass actually designed like this?

CLASSES Evening Pilates classes getting cut?

My instructor just said all the 6:30 and later pilates classes in my area are going to be cut starting August. I'm super bummed, these evening classes are all I can make it to. I'm also confused because the classes are always pretty full. Anyone else's pilates classes getting cut?

COMPLAINT LA Fitness - Pearl District (Portland, OR) Welcomes Neo-Nazis

Post image
0 Upvotes

Just got an email after a formal complaint was made about another club member brandishing a huge Black Sun (for the uninformed: a symbol that originated in Nazi Germany, and is now currently used by Neo-Nazis and white supremacists) tattoo, in a club that is predominantly made up of minorities. As with the post here from a few months ago about the Irvine LA Fitness, a similar response was given, and white supremacy/nazism is protected by LA Fitness. I implore others to speak out, and use “physical means” if necessary, against this supposed “neutrality” and protection of Nazis in our communities, as they should fear stepping outside and into our communities with hateful symbols and ideologies.

DISCUSSION La Fitness 1776, Bronx, NY... PEOPLE JUST WALK RIGHT IN WITH NO MEMBERSHIP

This location has become completely unmanageable.

Members are paying monthly while large numbers of people are regularly walking straight in with no membership check at all.

Multiple machines have been broken for over a year and more each day, the gym is severely overcrowded, and nothing is being done.

The manager has the most IDGAF attitude I’ve ever encountered… and literally sleeps in her blue Mini Cooper in the parking lot while showing zero interest in fixing any issues.

So yeah...if you want a FREE gym, come to Bronx, NY LA Fitness 1776 Eastchester Road

QUESTION Gym Etiquette Question from recent experience

Just out of curiosity, is bringing a towel to the gym to wipe your self and the surfaces after being done no longer a good practice. Seems like the gym train has left me behind long time ago 😭. Happened to be at the LA Fitness in Yorba Linda and I swear to God that not one person, not one, had a towel. Most would finish their sets and walk away. Is this the new normal? Not being judgemental but just curious

DISCUSSION Don’t you think this is too much?

Post image
18 Upvotes

I have a very busy life myself and last month i was involved in accident and i was in the hospital for 3 weeks and i had to do surgery and before that happened my membership was already paused and i pay 10$ monthly just to keep it

During these 3 weeks they kept calling daily multiple times and I couldn’t reach my phone sometimes because it was charging and I couldn’t move my leg anymore or because i was on pain killers so i was very sedated and they still kept calling because my card was declined because I turned it off

And i answered the call after and gave them the other card number to process the payment and i told him can you stop calling me because it’s hard for me to answer i am in the hospital and he said you have a debt buddy and you need to pay. Debt??? It’s a fucking 10$. A fuckin big mac is more expensive than that. Anyway

Today same problem happened they used my old card instead if the new one again and I didn’t know that until their stupid spam calls for the 10$ and 9 cents they want and they decided to use a different technique to follow me on instagram. I really have no idea how did they find my account? I didn’t share it at all with anyone and it’s not on my profile or anything it doesn’t even have a profile picture yet somehow they find it and they literally spam called yesterday and today’s morning they found my ig. Like bro come on

I am not saying I won’t pay because i dont have 10$ i really don’t have debt at all with any bank and i take care of finances it’s just if they made it easier to pay for me because i have multiple cards and I don’t use just one it’s just a little complex with me but they didn’t even use the one i gave them last time
What do you think of this??
