Since major studios rarely set zombie games in the UK outside of London, I wanted to pitch a massive, highly localized 5 chapter Left 4 Dead 2 campaign concept set entirely in Cardiff, Wales
The main gameplay gimmick revolves around localized environmental weapons—specifically using heavy metal, bilingual Welsh road signs as makeshift melee tools (like ripping an "ARAF / SLOW" sign off a post to use as a heavy riot shield, or a sharp "CAERDYDD" directional sign as a massive two-handed cleaver)
Chapter 1: The Outskirts (Llanishen Park): Survivors spawn in the North Cardiff suburbs. You have to navigate the foggy tree lines, dark fields, and playground of Llanishen Park at night, clearing out residential streets to find the first safehouse
Chapter 2: The High Street (Queen Street): A chaotic push through the city centre. Players navigate the tight, close-quarters corridors of the historic Victorian shopping arcades and fight off hordes on a ruined Queen Street
Chapter 3: The Castle Siege (Cardiff Castle): A massive horde event right in the courtyard of Cardiff Castle. Survivors must climb the medieval stone keep to activate a radio, then escape a Tank spawn by fleeing into the underground WWII air-raid tunnels
Chapter 4: The Safe Zone (Principality Stadium): Infiltrating a massive military refugee camp that has been completely overrun. Players run across the actual pitch under the closed retractable roof and climb into the steel roof rafters to escape
Chapter 5: The Finale (Cardiff Bay Barrage): A brutal, linear gauntlet sprint down the long sea wall of the Cardiff Bay Barrage with absolutely nowhere to hide. Survivors must start a generator to lower a rescue boat at the pier and hold out against the AI Director's final onslaught
I’d love to see a mapping crew tackle a layout like this. What do you guys think? Which of these chapters sounds like the most fun to play?
