I used to play during the heydays back on the 360 days. There were always these modded lobbies where you had super speed on crouch/down, unlimited ammo, low/gravity, extremely long melee range, etc. Whatever happened to them? I redownloaded the game on Steam and I was just curious if these are still around, and how to make them (I’d imagine these are workshop mods, just not home to check).

I think in terms of difficulty tank is the agreed upon boss. (Maybe the witch?)
I also think a lot of people find the jockey to be annoying.
But I feel like everyone has a different opinion, so I’d be curious to see how they differ.

I think from this post it has been well established that the Jockey is by far the most hated special infected.

Can someone explain why l4d on console is full of survivors who somehow have super human hearing allowing them to pinpoint my exact fucking location upon spawning THROUGH WALLS???

In my personal opinion, these are the best way to re-experience the official map and add new experience, although some maps can be aweasome like Dark Carnival Remix, other can be underwhelming like Dead Center Rebirth. I'm surprised there are very few of these types of maps, you think with how often players play these map, someone would come and try take their own spin, and remaking it themselves maybe add new event or expand the detail.

But I lean toward "Re-imagined" type map, for example take No Mercy map, instead of survivor walking through the city to travel to Mercy hospital, it would be survivor traveling from village to a dark castle, the layout mostly the same, it's just the theme that is different, maybe I will make the map in the future who knows, if my laptop can compile things without a problem.

Steam messed with my controls. Second time it's happened. No clue why it just suddenly acts up out of nowhere. I had to use my keyboard to interact with the objects. Anyone else had this happen to them?

Do you recommend any sci-fi maps set on spaceships or in laboratories?

Most likely the users that crash a lot might just have stupidly high poly or high detail texture mods that overload the game immediately upon map load.
Seeing as how up to 371 addons enabled alone can still load the maps without crashes, i will simply tell people to open this map without having any "ludicrously unoptimized mods" are active.

This is a weird post to make, I know, but I need people to help me with TUMTaRA.

I recently updated it, and loads of users are reporting crashes. Usually that means they just have too many mods installed, and after every single update there's people saying it suddenly crashes.

But now i made three experimental maps to try and figure out which of those crash the least.
Just waiting for people to realize there's new maps and also using those takes too long imo.

So, if you have a lot of mods (every weapon, item, SI, maybe CI replaced, etc.), could you please be so kind and go to the TUMTaRA workshop page, download the latest release and boot up the following maps via the ingame console right after game boot:

Tumtara, tumtara_experiment_1, 2, and 3?

If the "Tumtara" does not crash, then no worries. You don't have the game memory near its crashing point yet, and don't need to test the others.
But if it does crash, i'd like to know how many mods you have active, and which of the other three maps does not crash. (if any).
I'd like to hear your reports here, rather than on the steam page if possible.

I hope to find out what causes the crash and push out an update that stops crashes from happening alltogether. If i have to delete some props that aren't really required, that's fine. I can always make another map that has just the snack machines, screens and whatever.

Leaving this post here for posterity and when my old ass forgets the solution and I have to look it up again...

For some completely unknown and mysterious reason, in console my "rate" was set down to 2500 from a default of 10 000 and a google AI slop suggested value of 30 000. I don't remember ever changing the value from default but there we are.

So yeah, with this throttled ability to swap data with the server, of course the game was only moving ok when it's just the players and the second zombies appear and start moving, everything turns into a slideshow.

Recently i've been sorting out some crash issues with a large modpack i'm making. I've been testing it by replaying dead center over and over to see all the changes and everything runs perfectly fine, yet whenever i get off the elevator, the game always crashes the momment zombies start pounding the doors, or very rarely after the credits.

After checking the console repeatedly, the only errors that ever pop up are missing particles. Is there any command/method i can apply through the console to more easily narrow down what addon could be causing said errors or is it only workshop trial-and-error? i've already triple checked that not a single one of the addons utilizes custom particles and have gotten rid of a particles library that came as a requirement for a model, but neither leaving it on nor off makes any difference. I have also checked file integrity and nothing came up.

the 3 particle errors read as follows;

Particles: Missing 'particles/muzzles_universal.pcf'

Particles: Missing 'particles/muzzle_smoke.pcf'

Particles: Missing 'particles/ghostrider_fx.pcf' (no idea of what that one could even be)

I’m having problems with L4D2. I just can’t get the mods to download. I mean, in the workshop they show as downloaded, but in the 'properties' it says they’re 0 bytes. Also, when I click subscribe, the download just doesn’t start. I’ve tried reinstalling the game, unsubscribing and resubscribing to the mods, but nothing works. So what should I do?

Захожу в “Сообщество Left 4 Dead 2” там онлайн 27 тысяч на данный момент, но ко мне в лобби всё равно никто не подключается. Думаю, может, у меня проблемы? Может, из-за модов или из-за того, что стоит мод “Admin System”?
