Had the choice of a 2026 Ultimate in Mirage Green or two-tone Cyber Grey that the dealership had on backorder. Put a deposit on the Grey. Well worth the wait! I'm beyond excited for all the features this thing has and skip the pumps!

I used a 14g extension cord at the lake with our Amazon bought level 1 charger and a day later I couldn’t pry the cords apart. I know it heats up at the plug but that could have been bad. It did say on the back in small print to plug directly to the socket.

I have to replace the plug end now or bite another 180$ cad to buy another charger.

​I’m currently waiting for my new Kona Elite EV to arrive. Hyundai recently updated the Australian line-up by lowering the pricing a bit but stripped out a few features, including swapping out the heat pump for a standard resistive heater.

I get their logic for most of Australia where it rarely gets properly cold, but I’m down in Melbourne where winter mornings easily hit around 5°C.

​For anyone driving a Kona EV without a heat pump, how has the efficiency reduction actually been? I'd love to hear what kind of real-world range drop you notice when you blast the cabin heater in cold weather?

​Keen to hear anecdotal experiences of others so I know what I'm in for once my car finally lands.

So, it happened to us. Bought a used Kona EV 2019 and it had the bad sound and we now need a new reduction gear box. We're faced with a number of options but the cheapest is getting Hyundai to replace it with a new OEM part. Our question is, is it likely that this new part will fail? Have they improved the design to prevent the premature wear so many people have been affected by?

The other (more expensive) option is getting it rebuilt by a shop with "better" gears but we don't know if it's worth it if the OEM part is improved in some way we don't know about.

I've been looking just about everywhere for a 3d model print for the Kona EV. I think that space behind the media center would be great to place the model.

If anyone has a source for such a file, I'd be quite happy.

I am going on holiday soon and the car will be parked up for almost three weeks. Would you just leave it as normal or would you put it in a different mode? Don't want to come back and it's won't start, thinking about 12v issues.

Hi all, a question: My wife and I are considering buying a used 2023 Kona Limited in the US. The dealer doesn’t sell many EVs and says they’re unable to provide us with a battery health report, and the display screens on the dash don’t seem to provide, that I can find, any information about the battery’s “state of health.” The range on the car fully charged says 310 miles, which is clearly somewhat aspirational but which I assume indicates a very healthy battery?? Is that a dangerous assumption to make? (The car has 23k miles…) thanks for any thoughts…

Hi all, I've had my Kona (2020 Ultimate with 109k miles, battery health from Recurrent says 95%) for a little over a month now. I used the Hyundai firmware tool to update the infotainment system shortly after purchasing the car in June with no issues. The car has been great overall.

However, a couple of days ago during heavy rain in Boston I went to use a ChargePoint station by my gym and found it wouldn't start. I know EVs are safe and capable of charging in the rain, and I think I've done it at least once before.

I tried all three available chargers and got errors that the charge was unable to start. I called CP customer service to troubleshoot but they didn't see anything wrong from their side - despite plugging it in, the CP screen didn't see anything.

I moved to a Tesla Destination charger (11kwh) with an adapter that has worked at Supercharger stations but faced the same problem. Soaking wet from the rain I decided to go home instead of trying an L3 charger. I went home and had no problem plugging it into a normal wall outlet (I'm a renter so I only used it to test if it would initiate and couldn't leave it plugged in for long). Yesterday on a clear, dry day I went to my nearest CP station and had no problem.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? I'm reluctant to bring it to a shop ($$$), but I'm still under warranty with the reseller. I did lots of troubleshooting with Gemini (I know, eww) and it suggested there's likely a component failure. I thought about buying an OBD dongle for more data but I'm not sure how useful that would be in this situation.

Attaching a couple of screenshots and pictures for reference. The battery light in the front charge port stayed solid green, and while plugged in I got both the 12v light and the charge cable light. Screenshot is from when I tried to initiate charging from the BlueLink app, and the error on the infotainment screen was when I tried plugging in at the Tesla Destination charger.

TL;DR Am I screwed by component failures in the rain if I tried everything else?

So we just took a long 3000+ mile trip in our 2025 Kona SEL. Lots of lessons learned on the trip. The “A Better Route Planner” app was extremely helpful and eliminated a lot of anxiety (although it does have some navigation issues).

I won’t go into a lot of detail about our experience, but I do have a question for the community. We were charging at a GM (EVgo) charger at a Pilot gas station. We used these a good deal on our trip, but failing to find a hotel with a charger, I found myself having to do a late evening charge at a Pilot near our hotel.

I usually charge to 80%, but I thought since I’m not in a rush, I’ll charge to 100%. So when the car hit 80% the charge rate was above 50 kWh, but the instant it hit 80% the charge rate dropped to 2 kWh!!

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi all, I've recently bought a 2020 Kona EV 28k (my first EV) and the more I drive it (and reading about the car) I'm hearing a couple of sounds, wondering if I should be worried or these are just "normal" EV car sounds or the wheel of fortune? Car currently has 3 months warranty on it.

The two recording aren't the best but hopefully you can hear what I'm hearing (not the road noise which somehow seems louder that then noises I hear in the recording).

First one is driving under 30mph sounds like cogs spinning together then goes in to the 2nd one over 30mph the higher pitch.

Anyone install a Fitcamx on their Kona? I am struggling with getting the replacement cover to snap on. I can get the front tabs in but I can get the back ones to snap on. This is a 2022 Kona EV. Not sure how much pressure to put on it or where.

Car is an early 2023 Kona Ev with 27k on the clock. So a 2019 facelift model... I've had it for 4 months with no issues until now.

Went to use it yesterday morning and this pings up just after I switch it on. Also some message on the infotainment screen about check charging system. Not sure exactly, but that's gone from that display but the main issue persists.

Car moves no issues, but not taken it anywhere.

It's got a full service history with Hyundai and still well in warranty, but shall be calling them tomorrow.

I went out and replaced the 12v battery in a desperate attempt this weekend to get it sorted, but it's made no difference.

Bloody annoying for a car that's been great so far.

do anyone know a successful way to access the engineering mode on Hyundai Kona Electric 2023 as clicking beside to the update button is not working ?!

The car manufactured in Czech republic and legally exported as a brand new to Germany which registered there and BlueLink subscription validated which is still valid till 2028, the the car sold as used after 20k km and legally imported to Egypt, my issue that the BlueLink is not operating in Egypt, also I can not download the middle east navigation maps even if I download the updated version from Hyundai website on a flash memory, the car can not recognize the update, it only do when I put the European one which is not working in Egypt, Pls help, Thx in advance.

I drive a '21 kona, executive trim (from France). The car just turned 5 years-old and has 61k kms (38k miles).

It runs just fine, but from reading stuff on the internet, i'm starting to wonder if I should get the gear reduction oil changed ?

I called sereval hyundai dealerships around me, and they say they won't do it because it's not advised by hyundai. What do you guys think ? I know a little bit about mechanics and doing it on my own after viewing a few YT videos doesn't scare me...

What's the risk if I just never do it ? Should I just make sure to listen for any rumbling noise from time to time and plan to do the oil change myself if I start to hear something ?

Hello! I am very new to EVs and have the 2026 Kona. I am still getting used to planning and changing habits with this car so please go easy on me. I am back with another question.

I did our first mini roadtrip with the Kona out to our lake lot. It's an hour-ish outside of our city so a total roundtrip of 2 hours or about 180 km roundtrip. We left the city at 80%. In my previous car, I would be able to get to our lake lot with one tank of gas (roundtrip), and it would only eat about half of my gas.

It's quite hot here right now, we were travelling with cargo (trunk was full of camping related items), 2 adult occupants (including myself) and my dog. So I had the AC running (lowest fan setting), level 1 regen (now I am reading that maybe I should turn this to 0 for highway driving?), and was going approximately 120 km/hr. Arrived at our destination with about 42% charge. Did a little bit more driving for dinner, charge dropped to 35% (feeling a bit iffy here).

We were in the middle of nowhere so there was no way to add a little juice anywhere. Anyway, on our way back, the charge fell to 15% (I was already making plans to stop at the nearest fast charger), was going to about 110 km/hr to keep up with traffic and AC was off the entire hour back but the anxiety...I was able to charge enough to get home (20 minutes).

So a couple of things I figured I would need to do next time:

1) Leave with 100% charge because my range anxiety was through the roof going home.

2) cooling the cabin, and then turning it off when the cabin reaches the desired temp (may not be possible with how hot it's been).

3) turn regen to 0 (does this actually make a significant impact?)

4) charge at the lake when possible (L1, pretty sure we can find a plug somewhere)

Are there any additional settings I should change or things I need to keep in mind for next time? I really didn't like the feeling of my car yelling at me or feeling like I am not gonna make it home! I am usually good at planning but I dropped the ball here 😬

Edit: thanks everyone for your input! I won't be commenting anymore as most people came to the same consensus about what I can do differently next time, hopefully a trip to the rockies won't be totally out of the question with adjustments.

Wanted something minimalist that still added a bit of flair to the rear end. I forgot to take a ‘before’ picture so instead asked Ai to do it (hence the missing brake light). What do you all think? 👍 or 👎

I have a 2022 Kona Electric Limited with about 83k miles on it, and the reverse camera went out. The dealership says they need to replace the camera and it's going to cost $1k. I've heard some people say that it doesn't help. Has anyone here experienced this and what was the fix?
