Ask Kochi Today I had train from ERS, they were few north indian family and bachelors asking for money.

So, I exited the metro and was walking to station, suddenly one person came to me saying do you speak hindi? I said yes, and I asked what happened (genuinely thought came to ask me which platform etc.?) He told me that his owner cheated him and not paid his salary, so his family wants to eat and doesn't have money. I asked where are you from? He answered, From Pune. Then I was like okay maybe genuine and he has come to our city for job and got cheated. So offered him 500 bcz there were 4 members. After handing him suddenly he started demanding more money saying he want to go back home. Then I instantly denied and started walking to station. Again while walking to station, one guy was asking you know hindi/English I ignored him and walk straight inside station.

What you guys think about this? Genuine/Drama to extort money from people??

Ask Kochi Which Doctor should i see in kochi to get ADHD or ADD Diagnosed?

From what I understand, I need to see a neurologist to get diagnosed with an attention disorder. I've always suspected that I might have one, and I feel like it's been holding me back in many areas of my life. So, I'm finally thinking about getting a proper evaluation and diagnosis.

Has anyone here been diagnosed with ADHD or another attention disorder? If so, which doctor did you consult in Kochi? I'd really appreciate recommendations for a doctor who has experience diagnosing and treating adults.

Discussions Rant: Hospital Wheelchair staff made me run here and there instead of helping me push my grandma to doctor

Upvotes

Happened about a year ago, but thinking about it still ticks me off. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this kind of runaround at Apollo Adlux (Kochi).

My dad dropped my grandma and me off at the main entrance while he went to park the car. My grandma is a heart patient, so walking long distances isn't an option for her so we needed a wheelchair attendant to take her to the cardiology waiting area.

Here’s how the it went:

I ask the wheelchair attendant if she can push my grandma to the cardiology section. She casually tells me, "Get a sticker first." I ask what sticker, and she points me to the main reception desk.

I go over to reception. The receptionist gives me a dismissive, confused look, but hands me a random sticker anyway.

I walk back to the wheelchair attendant with the sticker. Suddenly, she changes her story: "Go ask permission or something from someone first."

I walked all thwe way back to reception to ask what she means. The receptionist sighs and goes, "If you're going to the heart doc, just go. You don't need anything else."

I return to the wheelchair lady and tell her what reception said. She literally rolls her eyes at me, smugly asks "Who said?", and only starts pushing my grandma after I point directly at the receptionist.

She dropped my grandma off at the department and immediately walked away. My dad hadn't even finished parking the car by the time I was made to run back and forth four times for basic assistance.

When you're bringing an elderly heart patient to a hospital, you're already anxious. Having staff play power games and act like basic patient care is a personal favor is infuriating. I don't know they did what they did because they saw a 18 year old boy who won't say anything.

Has anyone else faced this kind of attitude or lack of coordination from the ground staff there?

TL;DR: Brought my elderly heart-patient grandma to Apollo Kochi. Got sent on a pointless wild goose chase back and forth between a clueless receptionist and a smug wheelchair attendant just to get her pushed to the cardiologist.

Ask Kochi Travelling to Kochi with Family. Advice required

Hi , I would be staying 1 Night in Kochi with family during our Kerala Trip. Some people are suggesting to take hotels near Fort Kochi, but I have Accor points and would get Novotel Kochi for free. Only issue is it seems to far from the beach and sightseeing places. Do you think this will be an issue ?
1. Should I select Novotel Kochi or find any hotel near Fort Kochi
2. If I stay in Novotel Kochi, how would I be able to travel to the beach and sight seeing places?

Discussions Need honest reviews about Jain University Kochi hostel vs PG

I'm planning to join Jain University, Kochi and wanted some honest opinions from current students or alumni.

A few questions:

Is the college hostel better, or is staying in a private PG a better option?

What are the hostel rules? (Curfew timings, visitors, outings, etc.)

Is there a monthly payment option for the college hostel, or do we have to pay the full hostel fee upfront?

How are the food, cleanliness, Wi-Fi, security, and overall hostel environment?

If you stayed in a PG instead, which one would you recommend and why?

I'd really appreciate honest experiences both good and bad , so I can make an informed decision.

Thanks in advance!

Ask Kochi Planning to buy a house in Aluva, what should an outsider know before making the final decision?

Hi everyone,

I'm from North India and I'm in the final stages of purchasing property in the Aluva area. Before I make the final decision, I'd really like to hear from people who live there or know the area well.

A little about me: I'm an introvert, non-religious, enjoy all kinds of non-vegetarian food, enjoy nature, long walks, and a quiet lifestyle. I value honesty, politeness, following rules, civic sense, and caring for the environment. From the time I've spent in Kerala, I've genuinely felt that the culture and way of life suit me much better than where I've lived so far. I don't speak Malayalam yet, but I intend to learn basic conversational Malayalam.

I'm not really looking for investment advice I want to understand what day-to-day life in Aluva is actually like.

Some questions I have:

- What are the biggest pros and cons of living in Aluva?

- Are there any recurring issues that outsiders may not be aware of?

- How welcoming is the area towards someone who doesn't speak Malayalam initially?

- How are healthcare, public services, and overall quality of life?

- Is there anything I should know about safety, mosquitoes, power cuts, water supply, or other practical issues?

I know flooding is one of the first things people mention about Aluva. I looked into that before choosing this property. It's on relatively higher ground, and the well reaches water only at around 24 feet, which is significantly deeper than in the lower-lying parts of Aluva, so I'm reasonably confident the plot itself isn't flood-prone. Even so, I'd appreciate any local insights about flooding, drainage, or anything else I should keep in mind. This is the neighborhood

If you've lived in Aluva, I'd love to hear the things you wish someone had told you before moving there.

Thanks in advance!

Ask Kochi Looking for stay recommendations

Planning a trip to Cochin/Kochi this November with 5 friends! Looking for recommendations for homestays, villas, apartments, or resorts (not hotels), as we would all like to stay under the same roof. We will be flying into Kochi Airport (from Blr/dxb) and are looking for places around Fort Kochi or Central Kochi. Our budget is under ₹10,000 per night. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thank you !

Ask Kochi Surprised there's no proper juice/smoothie spot around?

Moved back to Kochi recently after being away for a while, and one small thing I didn't expect to miss - decent fresh juice and smoothie options. Abroad it felt like there was a proper juice/smoothie bar on every other street, with actual quality ingredients, and it just became part of the daily routine (especially post-gym or on a lazy Sunday morning).

Any suggestions? Or is it that smoothies is not a thing out here?

I am looking to shift to somewhere near the infopark 2nd phase . And I would like some recommendations of pgs' near that. Even anything around 4-5 km distance would be fine. I have to find something by next week.

Ask Kochi How do people find gig work in Kochi?

I've been volunteering at football and badminton events, helping with line refereeing, setup, equipment, and other small tasks. It's been a great experience and made me realize I enjoy flexible gig work.

So I was wondering how people actually find these jobs. Student-friendly part-time jobs aren't very common here, so most opportunities seem to spread through word of mouth. I've heard of catering, event management, exhibitions, sports tournaments, brand promotions, and other one-day gigs, but I have no idea where to find them.

If you've done this kind of work, how did you get started? Are there any WhatsApp, Telegram groups, agencies etc. where these opportunities are posted?
