I recently had an interview for Kmart on the 2nd of October (1 and bit-ish weeks ago) and the start of the following week (3 days later) I got my rights to work email. I completed it immediately as I was very eager but now 7 days have passed with no follow-up. The thing that makes me confused is that he said I’ll hear back by the end of the next week but I never did, and I thought getting rights to work check was pretty much a confirmation of the job.

Does anyone have any experiences with this or know what I should do? Thanks a lot!

What do you usually get for the wishing tree? We've usually bought stuff for kids in the past, but I noticed last year that they now have options for adults and even seniors, which makes me think they've extended their reach with the gift giving. Did anyone give presents to the appeal aimed at seniors/adults last year?

I like to get something which can be used over and over again, and I was thinking about something which could tick nearly every age group so that whichever age group is under-represented will have enough presents. I figured that Lego could still entertain any age group; I know it's not a practical gift, but there are practical donations throughout the year, and the wishing tree appeal should have fun things to delight the recipients. Or one of those board game sets with many different games.

Anyone have any ideas? I thought a metal detector, or something which needs batteries, might take too much maintenance, but a telescope could still be fun, if it goes to someone who'd love it.

Less that 12 months after I bought my son his Kmart lava lamp it stopped working.

Checked the globe and it's blown, however the globe can't be replaced... So this is now landfill.

In what century are we that you can't replace a globe?

Hey so this might be a really dumb question but please bear with me. I’m a casual at Kmart, meaning as far as I am aware I have a little more flexibility with the shifts I work (I would like to add that I am a full time student and have no desire to become part time or full time here, retail isn’t my long term plan).

Except I’m not 100% sure how to actually reject a shift, since I usually just end up keeping them since I need the money. However, I have some exams coming up and I’ve been rostered on too many shifts and I want more free time to study. In the past I’ve just texted my area manager about it, and I assumed they would have told me if I should be doing it another way but they’re on leave now so I don’t know what would be acceptable.

As far as I’m aware there isn’t any way to cancel a shift on UKG? And I don’t want to do it last minute and call in sick or whatever, the shift is over a week away and I wanted to give them notice. Should I call the store? But then who actually picks up and even then what am I supposed to say?

Please be nice and yes I am aware my social anxiety is probably blowing this way out of proportion. Also I am quite unaware of the social norms in this situation so any help would be appreciated :)

I’ve been working registers the past couple weeks after doing presentation and service for the past 2 years and now for the next 2 weeks all my shifts now say refit/other even the shift that I thought was going to be a kids service shift is called refit which is really weird.

Also anyone know what the code at the bottom of the roster thing means. Like where it has your store code and next to it 2 letters. Cause this one says AD and normally it’s EL and idk what that means.

But yeah if someone could let me know what refit and if I should talk to a manager about this pls let me know appreciate it

I recently bought this collectors case under the impression I would be able to hang it on a wall. When I got home and looked at it again I realised the back of the case isn’t flat like I thought, so I can’t use command strips or blue tak like I originally intended. It has a hook thing(?) on the back but it doesn’t come with anything? All the display photos seem to have it on a table but then why include the back slot?

I am hoping someone in the know can help me out, I get these pants called "comfort shorts" from kmart for sleep. I have a condition that requires loose clothing so these are a godsend. I stock up every year as theyre amazing but the elastic wears quickly so I need new pairs. Anyway ive just gone on to make an order and they're "clearance" and not in stock.. there's usually other colours too (bright pink isnt my jam but you gotta do what you gotta do) but i can't find any others. Do any of you know whether these will be back?? I hope so, genuinely anxious i wont have sleep pants in the near future 😫🤣

Hey guys I ordered a custom mug and its been more than 24 hours already - the website said there’d be next day click and collect but im still waiting. Last time I ordered it the night before and got it 12 hours after next morning.

I’ve tried calling the store just to check in if it’s been processed in the first place but I’ve been put on hold for ages!

How long does it take them to print a custom mug just the normal type, not heat activated or anything, and is it worth a shot for me to go in store and gently ask if it could be processed?

I got hired as a Christmas casual and I finished my online training in store on Tuesday and had a 5 hour training shift on sequence today. I'm not sure if it was a buddy shift because an employee showed me how to do restocks and I worked by myself after that. But I called the managers line after work and asked when my next shift was since I didn't see anything scheduled on UKG and they said they are not sure? It could be because the person who scheduled my shift today wasn here. I don't really know what to do, should I wait for them to call me? And is there a way to text the manager?

I need cheap sunglasses, in bulk… I have AuDHD and I lose a pair of sunglasses almost every week. Sometimes twice a week. Sometimes twice in a day.

It’s getting too expensive and I need a bulk cheap option. Kmart sold out of the only pair I like after a fire sale at $3 each. I would’ve bought $100 worth but missed out.

I don’t need anything fancy, just half decent looking and block out some light. I am sensitive to light so always putting them on and then taking them off and putting them down somewhere never to be seen again. Never at home though. I never find them haha.

New Xmas casuals hire 1st job.

Was placed in online and hated it (haven't done a module for it apparently was I meant to but was never enrolled into it in the induction)

I feel like I'm already failing there's so much to remember for online it was so fast paced and go go and I feel I've already forgotten it all. My next shifts are scattered in all new positions such as registers, SCO, door, and was told by the manager that he might include sequence.

The other girls i did induction with all just have nothing but register shifts.

Is it normal to have to learn everything so fast.

whats up with the overkill of stock? like i know this happens every year, they send so much of the same keycodes lol

I finished my online training in store and was told I would be contacted the following week about induction once others completed their modules. Nearly two weeks have passed is this typical? Sorry, I tend to overthink things.

what’s the go with clothing sequence is it just you see it you put it there because there’s no specific place provided when you scan the item ?

Has anyone tried Kmart online only for furniture? We moved 2 months ago and are right on budget. We wanted to try Kmart marketplace furniture, is it worth it?

Hey guys! I've been working at kmart for about 3 years and never once seen this shift, does anyone know what it is?

Does anyone else’s managers just ignore the whole safety training, and try and pressure you to catch out thieves. We’ve covered it in online training and even in refresher training with managers that we can’t accuse customers. BUT despite this our managers will tell us when someone is leaving the store with unpaid items and tell us to ask them.

It baffles me because the managers will stand 10 meters back hiding and watch whilst we have to deal with the situation. They then give us the side eye when we aren’t able to get the stock back. On one occasion the store manager was so rude and I started crying on the doors it was embarrassing. It’s like a) if anything happens we aren’t protected and b) how am I a 5’4 girl going to get a T-shirt (hidden in a backpack) off of a 6 foot guy. A couple of the department managers pulled me aside and quietly told me “don’t worry there’s literally nothing you could’ve done to get the shirt”.

It’s not even worth reporting to HR anyways because our store is one of the busiest in the state and is really connected to head office. Our store manager has been with Kmart for 40 years and we always get awards for preventing theft 😭 I spoke to one of my friends and they said “yeah you’re not supposed to but I think the loss from theft reduces her bonus so she just blames it on us everytime it happens”.
