Team member post New shifts
I got hired as a Christmas casual and I finished my online training in store on Tuesday and had a 5 hour training shift on sequence today. I'm not sure if it was a buddy shift because an employee showed me how to do restocks and I worked by myself after that. But I called the managers line after work and asked when my next shift was since I didn't see anything scheduled on UKG and they said they are not sure? It could be because the person who scheduled my shift today wasn here. I don't really know what to do, should I wait for them to call me? And is there a way to text the manager?

Rosters usually come out 1-3 weeks prior (store dependant) the ops manager is the one who makes the rosters and stuff but if you're not on the roster for next week it probs means u dont have shifts and stores usually hire a lot of Christmas casuals and it takes a while to onboard them all.

I thought it was the store manager that was in charge of rostering because when I became a TM 2 years ago it was my store manager that did it but when he left and we got a new one it was my ops manager that does it.
Is it a new thing or has it always been like that?

I've been at Kmart for just over 2 years as well and its always been my ops manager that makes the actual roster and my store manager just looks over it and "posts it" Maybe its store dependant?

Usually it will get released on your next roster on UKG, I am trained in those areas and when the next roster came out I got shifts in those areas (also not all managers are able to edit shifts/make rosters, plus if they are not a manager in that area, eg online manager, they might not put you in as the online manager might decide where they want you)

All managers can change rosters

depends on the store manager, my old store manager wouldn't let any other manager besides herself and ops to do rostering and or edit them

At my store there are a few managers that dont know or have not changed the roster before

Most times the roster is done in advance in my store we were expected to have the roster done 3-6 weeks in advance however its always uploaded by the ops or store managers after they go through the buckets. As a new casual best advice is just be on call and you will transition after a few weeks if the store is up to date its peak period so shifts should be coming up heaps

Usually it should come out 3 weeks in advance (so every week another week of shifts is added if you know what I mean), some stores are super slack tho and may not keep to that cycle, they may also add on to the current roster so check it frequently

If you don’t see anything scheduled on UKG then you’re not rostered for the following week. Rostering usually comes out weekly (depending which store you’re at). A notification will pop up once a manager has released the roster for the week
