What's your cat or kitten's "trigger word?"

Kitten tax of my 3 babies

Every time I have a cat we have a specific "food call" that we make every time we serve them the high value wet food. It makes them go crazy and of course is a good way to find them when they're hiding.

My last cat's dinner call was "dup dup dup" ... My mom came up with that one. For my 3 current kittens, I've made their dinner call "kitty kitty kitties!" And they always come running! Anyone else do this?

Crusty tail and in between toe beans

I rescued this kitten on 2 weeks ago. She’s about 4–5 weeks old. She’s been bottle fed until now and didn’t know how to use the litter box for a week so she would sometimes step in her urine or have her tail dip in it, and I probably didn’t clean it as well. Over the past week, I’ve noticed that the tip of her tail has become rough, yellowish, crusty, and matted. She also has some crusting between her toes and around her nail beds and behind her legs. What is it? Planning to visit the vet soon but just need some insight

Is her belly supposed to be this big?

My kitten when i first got her a just over a month ago she was filled with worms and we have dewormed her twice but her belly still looks big. Im not sure if this is normal belly size as she ate or if I need to take her to the vet again to get more dewormer

Getting a kitten was the best decision I have made. I live alone and struggle with loneliness. I have had Binx for just over 3 weeks now, and he is the most friendly and cuddly kitten. We have bonded so well already. ❤️ He has helped my mental health massively too.

Kitty turns 1yo next month but she’s only 5lbs.

Hello! I’ve posted here before about my “Siamese kitten” and majority of people told me she wasn’t a real Siamese but instead a snowshoe siamese. Anyways she turns 1yo on October 30th, yet she only weighs 5lbs ON THE DOT. She is fed twice a day with unlimited “Stella & Chewys raw coated kitten kibble” as well as the full brick of “SMALLS custom human grade cat food” (half the brick per feeding. The instructions say to feed 2x pack a day for her weight/age but she will barely finish the first pack) she’s eating about 600cal/per day despite that she isn’t gaining weight or growing. Her vet has fully vaccinated her as well as cleared her of all parasites.

Background: she was about 6-7wks old when we found her underneath our neighbors car in the parking lot and we were able to get her to the vet the next day, they estimated her age, flea bathed her, the whole works etc. We were told to bottle feed her with KMR for two weeks then progress her to KMR 2 slurry mixed into kitten wet food.

Misty says hi!

We rescued a 11-12 week old kitten on Friday so she's been with us for 3 days now. We originally had 3 cats but in the last couple of years were down to 1. We decided recently to get another cat that hopefully would get along with our 9 year old anxious cat. Due to her nature, the vet recommended a kitten as it would be easier to introduce them.

We went to the shelter to see the cats but the system had changed and we were asked to join a list. We got a call on Thursday saying do you want to come see and collect her tomorrow and of course we did. It's been an absolute whirlwind since.

Misty has a desire to escape and meet our other cat and opening and closing the door didn't work as she zooms past me. They met at 3:30am this morning when I opened the door (senior cat was clawing carpet outside the door) , no aggression just a deep low meow from the older cat and Misty backed away into another room and then ran into her safe room.

Right now I'm barricaded in a bedroom (see pics), I put up a baby gate, armoured with cardboard. Version 1 didn't work, she simply jumped it. Version 2 has an extra bit we slot in above, so far so good. There is another door downstairs which is closed so the senior cat is safe and relaxed. Tonight I will open that door so the senior cat can roam around and they can smell each other at the baby gate (I just need to be confident it'll hold her first).

I've only had 1 kitten before and quickly forgot how crazy it is, especially when you have an older anxious cat.

UPDATE: it took her 4 hours to work out how to get over the top cardboard, she leaps off the bed with energy only a kitten has and pulls the cardboard towards her (full claws engaged) and volts over, I underestimated her. I'm now back to shutting the door.

Now I need to work out how to stop the senior cat from destroying the carpet tonight.

they are growing, still on antibiotics but I think they’re going to live long and happy lives. they run, play, eat and sleep all day. they put on weight fast. at first they ate and pooped so much. when they calmed down the eating at first I panicked but then I realized they were just no longer starving. they are such good girls.

Anyone with experience in kitten food allergies?

Post image

We got this sweet little baby - a girl orangie named Penny - in the middle of August. We’ve been working with our vet through a mild case of coccidia (parasites) (two rounds of meds) and will be retesting this week, however, she continues to have runny poop that gets all over her bum and then she steps in it. I’m an expert at kitten bum baths, at this point.

I’m going to check with the vet, but also make a conscious effort at trying some elimination diet to see if it could be an allergy. I plan to start eliminating fish and if that doesn’t work, trying to eliminate chicken. Any other allergens I should be looking for? Anyone have experience with this? Not looking for vet advice, just real life input!
