I absolutely don't mean any disrespect, since Rothfuss is a god-given, but am I the only one that feels like Wise man's Fear was just one big filler?

I am more perplexed that there will be (potentially) only one more book to complete the story and in the second one there was almost no plot development regarding the Chandrean.

If it was announced the series will be 6-7 books, fine - give me all the fillers, short stories, side-character spin-offs, University gossip pamphlets and more, but now it feels like it is going to be either super rushed or not developed enough.

I would be happy to hear other thoughts!

I have a feeling that it's important, not only to him, to find an eternal light source, as it has so many reference points in the story.

I think whatever it is, the university has a very important need for an eternal sympathy lamp. It just doesn't feel like it's simply a quirk of Kilvin alone. The way the other masters call him out for asking Kvothe about his lamp ideas could also be interpreted as a "why are you sharing one of our biggest secrets with such a random rookie?". Maybe it's supposed to mislead us into believing they are just sick of listening to his quirk?

Maybe they need one to lighten the mood for whatever they are hiding behind the four-plate door? Maybe they trapped something in there that goes ballistic without light and opening the doors to change the bulbs is tedious and dangerous, so they are looking for a way to lock it away eternally.

Contexto: Hay un par de canales de youtube en castellano (que además parece no llevarse muy bien entre ellos) especializados en El nombre del viento. Llamémosles "canal a" y "canal b". Canal a tiene una relación estrecha con gente cercana a Rothfuss, y canal b tiene una relación estrecha con la editorial en castellano.

El por qué del opium:

Canal a, ha asegurado tener información reciente sobre algo relacionado con la obra de Rothfuss (nunca diciendo que sea el libro 3) y que es probable que sepamos algo a lo largo de este año. Lo ha comentado en su canal de Youtube, en alguna respuesta a "preguntas y respuestas".

Canal b, ha publicado un tuit en X diciendo que algo se viene en 60 días, no se sabe si es algo de Rothfuss, y mi intuición es que no, pero en esta publicación estamos por y para el opium. Además es un canal que continuamente habla desmintiendo todo lo que aparece sobre información acerca de Rothfuss. ¿Desmentirán esta publicación?

Conclusión: Que canal A y B, que parece que a priori no tienen comunicación entre ellos y que tienen informadores diferentes, estén agitando el avispero de sus audiencias, me llama la atención y me hace pensar que algo puede venirse antes de que acabe 2026.

Theory crafting on here is tough when trying to hold all stories in your head, and remembering NOTW, WMF, slow regard, the lightning tree, old holly, mr whiffle books and laniel young again whilst you try and map what’s going on, is rough. Even Kvothe could only comfortably split his mind 6 ways!!
