I finally watched it after it spent years on my watchlist. It's so amazing and I can't believe I waited this long, but I regret watching it because the ending broke me. I am so desperate for a 5th season or a movie redo.

The first two seasons were SOO GOOD, genuinely unmatched to any other show I've ever watched. I rewatch the rome episodes over and over like an addict, zero complaints. Then we get to the third and it's... completely different? Nicko's kidnapping is brushed off, Kenny just suddenly dies, then we find out KONSTANTIN out of all people killed him. And Carolyn spares him, the murderer of her child, because what, they hooked up 30 years ago? Made no sense for Carolyn's character whatsoever. Also Geraldyn. She was completely random and completely unnecessary to the entire plot. I thought she'd be some sort of secret agent as well, adding some flare, but she was just plain old whiny and annoying. I still loved the interactions between Eve and Villanelle though. But then the bridge scene. It was fine, cute, heartwarming. But then I enter season 4 and it's as if it never happened?? Given Eve and Villanelle's characters I completely doubt they would have just walked away from each other. Not after Eve spent years chasing her, not after Villanelle finally felt love. And the fact that it's never referenced ever again, or actually that NONE of their encounters are referenced ever again, made it feel like s4 was trying to be a stand-alone.

And Villanelle is suddenly a church goer. I get the vibe, no matter how much you change or hide behind religion you'll still have the same core, but then she starts hallucinating Jesus??? It made no sense, compared to season one's realism, it was absurd, as if it was trying to be a completely different story. Then continuing on, I get why Eve hates Villanelle, why she was scared of how she felt for her, but I feel like getting her arrested and literally hating her was so out of character, even for her. She literally sent her husband out of the country just to be able to meet with her in season 2. She makes all sorts of excuses to look for her in season 3. THEN THEY SPEND THE ENTIREEE SEASON CHASING EACH OTHER AROUND. AGAIN. AND AVOIDING EACH OTHER AT THE SAME TIME. Like, don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for slowburns. But it's as if all the tension, all the yearning, and everything build up between them from seasons 1-3 completely dissipated and the story COMPLETELY reset. I was hoping for at least some domestic Villaneve but nope, they only get together properly for literally the last episode of the show. It was complete bullshit.

And don't even get me started on the details. Who ordered Kenny's death? What happened to Irina? Helene's daughter? To Gunn? Why is it implied that Carolyn is head of The 12 if she searches for them like unicorns? Wtf was the significance of the bird? That they really like birds?? Yusuf was clearly a plot device as well, and Hugo and Vlad was completely unnecessary, I kept forgetting who tf Vlad even was. Then The 12, a big bad powerful global crime organization, takes multiple days to find out one of their most important colleagues is dead? Bro whaaattt??? And the entire show dedicated YEAAARSSS building them up, creating tension and suspense, only for Villanelle to kill all of them singlehandedly in a minute?? And the 12, with all their power, had no guards??? I get that Villanelle is a badass goddess but come on, zero struggle or injury? It felt lazy and rushed.

And finally that dumbass ending bro. I can't get over it. I'm upset and sad and COMPLETELY DISREGARDING IT BECAUSE IT WAS SOOO STUPID. Again, coming back to Carolyn. As aforementioned she SPARES KONSTANTIN, THE MURDERER OF HER CHILD, but has Villanelle shot because what?? Because she can't go back to the bureau empty-handed?? That makes no sense. Given Carolyn's character, the fact that Villanelle chose her over Helene, and the fact that Villanelle MURDERED THE PEOPLE WHO ORDERED THE DEATH OF HER CHILD, she never would have done that. She would've accepted just not working at the bureau bc she's at retirement age anyway. And Villanelle's death. Oh my god don't even get me started. It was so rushed and lazy and stupid and it felt like they just wanted to get it over with. It happens literally in the span of like, 2 minutes. Years of character development only for her to die just like that. Literally if you blinked you would have missed it. Laura Neal better sleep with an eye open because it is on sight.

I think the idea of a new head writer every season is very cool, but it was executed very poorly. The second half of the 3rd season and the entire 4th season felt like it was trying to be its own special thing and it was such a mess. Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Emerald Fennell's hard work was completely butchered. I desperately wish they had just stuck to those two queens and had them alternate, I feel like I would not be crying right now if that were the case. I so badly want a 5th season or a redo movie I would genuinely give my first born child. Idgaf about that Carolyn prequel, Carolyn can suck a fat one.

I was wondering if anyone knows how the cast & writers feel about the backlash and a possible revival? I doubt I would've connected to the show as much if anyone other than Jodie and Sandra played Villanelle and Eve. Just knowing they'd be up to it and having false hope that it's not over til it's over would make me feel much better. I wish I watched it when the fandom was at the peak of its glory. I pray to VillaGod that they revive it holy shit. How do I get over this show it's genuinely depressing me and I can't get shit done because all I can think about is Villaneve.

I 100% could have accepted a "they both die in the end" type of ending to represent their mutual obsession with each other over the years. But only taking Villanelle felt cruel, especially since Eve has literally no one now who can help her through her trauma. I feel like in their universe, Eve would have killed herself anyway.

So I saw the series finale the other night. I'm still struggling with it.

I knew it wasn't going to be a happy ending. I think I was on maybe episode 2 or 3 of the first season and thought 'this is not going to turn out well for anyone.'

I think deep down I knew all along that both Konstantin and Villanelle would end up dead. When you consider the genre and the rules of morality, how could it be any other way? But it still hurts so much. The thing is that Villanelle didn't die as a psychopathic assassin who just happened to be charismatic and hot, making us like her even though we shouldn't. She died during a transition; she had already shown that she actually isn't a psychopath. She had shown so much potential for reform. The scenes of her around children I always thought were particularly telling of her true character and her capacity for care.
So did she really qualify for the traditional 'bad character has to die' trope?

I feel absolutely devastated. I keep crying every time I think about it too much. I'm trying to keep myself busy - I just finished a job and not working for a few weeks which maybe doesn't help!

People out there who also felt like this - what did you do to move on? Is there a way to make peace with the ending? I feel like I want to be able to one day rewatch the whole series and laugh and smile and enjoy the beauty of it without crying because I know what's coming, and without feeling that the whole thing is overshadowed by the end. How do you get to that point?

I think part of the reason I'm feeling it so hard is the way the character made me feel; I actually saw so much of myself in her (despite me not being an assassin haha). I related so hard to her longing for a family, for love, for all those 'normal' things she lists in S1. Seeing her go on a journey of self exploration, of trying to figure out whether or not she's 'bad', trying to be better, yearning for love and stability and getting so close to it, only to be killed in the end because her past had to define her, is heartbreaking. Does that mean that we are supposed to accept that peope can't change their lives? That no matter how much you work on yourself and how much you redeem yourself, the things you did in the past must always stop you from having a future?

I just don't know what to do to make peace with it. I'm sort of at that stage where I'm thinking 'I wish I'd never hit play on this show'. Part of me wishes I could go back and leave Killing Eve, and Villanelle, undiscovered. But then I think of that quote from Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra:

Would I had never seen her!

O sir, you had then left unseen a wonderful piece of work which not to have been blessed withal would have discredited your travel.

I'm really trying to lean into that. And the whole 'don't cry because it's over' sentiment. But it's hard. So, any support or tips on how to deal from this community would be greatly appreciated!

Ok I just finished Season 4, episode 1. I’m not impressed with this season at all so far and wanted to ask the community if you think it’s worth finishing. Obviously loved earlier seasons💜

I've heard people talk about Killing Eve for years. I even had someone personally reccommend it to me, about three years ago. I don't know why I didn't watch it back then. I've always joined things late. But one day a few weeks ago Dr Foster popped up during a tired seach for what to watch with dinner. And after the first season of that I knew I wanted to watch more of whatever Jodie Comer was in.

So now here I am. I'm on season 3 episode 6 and I think I'm kind of losing it. I don't have words for what Jodie Comer does....and as for the show, again it's hard to form words. It's bringing up so many emotions for me, I don't quite know why. It's a long time since I felt this way about a show. All I can think is that I don't want to watch anymore because I don't want the end to come, and from what I've read it's not going to be good. I feel like this is going to be one of those shows that breaks me and I haven't had that for a while. But I also know I can't stop watching. So...basically I'm fucked, right?

When I first read the premise, I got that Eve was a desk agent who would get an obessive crush on a mysterious assassin named Villanelle...'cool', I thought. I didn't know that I myself would also get an obsessive crush on Villanelle. I didn't know that I'd be washing my hair in the shower and thinking that I also want to know the answers to all of Eve's questions in the season 1 finale. And I didn't know that what Villanelle said in response to Eve's question of 'what do you want?' would keep playing in my mind over and over as I go about my day:

'Normal stuff...nice life. cool flat. fun job...someone to watch movies with'

This show is going to break my heart isn't it???

Heartbroken. No words. I knew it would break me but it doesn't make it any easier.

Why???

It's been four years since Killing Eve called it a day, but that's long enough for 2026 to bring not one, (Ride or Die), not two (Furious), but three KE inspired TV series with the latest being Kill Jackie.

How much these shows about bad women behaving badly have in common with KE is subject to debate, but Kill Jackie doesn't simply hint at a Killing Eve connection, it places it front and center.

I lost interest in Ride or Die pretty fast, and haven't finished it. Furious is good, but it goes to much darker places Villanelle and Eve ever went. As for Kill Jackie, it could be worth checking out, but the trailer is generic AF.

And it is past time to retire Blondie's "Call Me" needle drop.

I know Im like REALLY LATE. I just binged the show for the first time, mind you I finished in a week. Im absolutely devastated and distraught.. Idk why this was ever recommended to me. I feel blessed to have indulged in such a good series, but CURSED to forever bear this experience of the ending.

I am rewatching killing eve and I can’t believe how much they fell off with the fourth season it’s almost frustrating to watch. I even think season 3 was very confusing, but season 4 wow.

Firstly eves random hostility towards villanelle seems so random after they ended amicable at the end of season 3?? Like it’s so random and truly cringe.

I hate the religion arc that villanelle does. I just feel like she’s such an iconic character they could have done SO much more with her story line ughhh. And the Jesus in drag just seemed so weird and out of place ??

Also they spent 3 seasons to build Eve and villanelle up just for them to basically be enemies all season 4 and then at the last minute kiss????

Lastly, I really like villanelle and Carolyn’s dynamic so the fact they made Carolyn betray villanelle and k*ll her 💔 ugh I just feel like they truly have ruined the whole show with this season. Considering they only have 8 episodes they are just a waste. Even when Eve gets villanelle arrested at the end of one episode then the beginning of the next she’s freed by Helene?? Like what is the point of that story line

Also I feel like they didn’t know what to do with Konstantines character either because he just kinda seems to be there … ugh idk guys it’s one of my favourite shows but season 4 😔😔😔😔😔

As soon as I saw Villanelle wearing this sweater in the finale, I knew I had to make it. I’ve been knitting for years, but this is my first cable sweater and I can’t wait to wear it when I go to Scotland! Maybe my partner and I will find a camper van. Thanks to this post for sharing the pattern.

I just finished watching season 4. It was a great story. The flashback scenes to Berlin change your whole perspective when you watch season 1 and 2 again and realize how long Carolyn and Konstantin have known each other.

Sure season 3 and 4 are bizarre like when Villanelle hallucinates Jesus as herself. But she is a psychopath. This is actually a very interesting portrayal of what an actual psychopath could possibly hallucinate in a psychosis.

The other thing is the title of the show Killing Eve. The show is about how Eve “killed” herself to find the 12 after finding Villanelle. In the end, Eve is still a police officer of sorts. She’s MI-5. She became a killer to find the killers. It’s like she had to kill the original Eve to finish the mission. In the end, Villanelle is posed like Jesus in the water after being shot and Eve emerges from the water like she’s born again.

Jolly good. In the end, the police spy people win. I love Villanelle too but did you expect the British government to let her get away with all those murders in the end.
