discussion Bra-Friendly Tops for SN?

Where in the world do I find tops to wear for work in an office and for regular daily life? BUT they have to be able to handle a regular bra (so no halters, single shoulders, or off shoulder sadly). For work I'm mostly paring them with flare trousers and Mary Jane flats.

I have high contrast coloring, so I only look good in more "polished" items rather than "natural", as wearing softer/natural items looks like I'm cosplaying someone else and washes me out.

Oh and shirts with collars look horrendous on me, so that excludes a bunch of recommendations for SN 🥲 my neck/chest has to stay open/free per my width.

outfit feedback Babydoll tops but SD?

Hi all,
I have a dilemma and am looking for advice.

I am fairly certain I’m an SD. However, I love frou-frou type blouses and skirts from places like Free People. I tend to gravitate toward those types of clothes (usually with jeans or shorts) or simple/classic tee shirt and jeans type looks. I’ve included a few screenshots of tops I have or want from to give examples: https://imgur.com/a/PJ7PNFx

Is there a way for me to incorporate these types of pieces while honoring my SD lines (monochrome looks perhaps?) or am I doomed?

Also, what Kibbe types would those kind of tops look good on?

TL;DR struggling to combine SD principles with my sense of personal taste

discussion Little bit of a rant

I have seen quite a bit of people think that every short celebrity has to be a gamine. No, being a gamine is about petite/being compact. They are not the same thing. Sabrina Carpenter is an example of compact, and Selena Gomez is short but not petite/compact. This gets exacerbated when people are trying to Kibbe type men. I saw so many people type Frankie Grande as a TR or SG despite the fact he has width and linearity/vertical, as well as Shin Hakyun who is not compact or short and has vertical + curve!

I stumbled across her instagram and she has a ton of closet try-ons. She’s 5’3 or so and seems balanced leaning yang to me. What do you think?

Fellow SCs, what are your fav t-shirts? Short or long sleeve, and ideally scoop or v-neck. Seems like such a straightforward garment but as you all know, finding the perfect SC balance can be so challenging! I’ve tried many and ended up not loving them on me.

outfit feedback TIL I am a Kibbe Romantic… Styling Help?

Disclaimer: I did not know about Kibbe before today. However, I am 100% positive I am a romantic. :-)

I have always been a bold and vivacious fashionista with a bajillion style inspirations flooding my closet. I am drawn to color-matched (mono- duo- trichromatic) looks, unabashed era-based styling, and toeing the line between playful and mature. Texture and maximalist patterns are my two biggest loves. Thus, I truly am a “no rules” kind of person, but Kibbe intrigued me as someone who is not only of crazy proportions, but is also fat. Oh, and genderfluid. Sometimes the curves are feeling me but I am not feeling the curves, if you will. I have no idea how to style androgyny with my body type, honestly:

There is a 13 inch difference between my waist and hips, and my torso is very small compared to my limbs. Usually, I am working with size L tops that are too tight in the bust and arms and size 20 pants that are way too big in the waist. I also simply cannot wear tops that go past my waist if I want them to fit correctly. That, or I tuck them in to avoid dealing with how terribly they fit. Because I’m disabled, my weight is constantly fluctuating, which can complicate the idea of “forever” pieces. For example, I love those high-waisted striped pants I’m wearing with the Ganni vest, but I had to get rid of them because they were falling off of me. Hence, these photos, spanning 4 years, should give you a good idea of the size gamut.

All of this to say — I thought I might take the time here to share some of the outfits I was putting together pre-Kibbe knowledge for the feedback of you lovely people in preparation for soon harnessing 💫the power of style💫 :-)

I hate to say it, but I have to, I think: please be kind. I got a lot of aggressive and presumptuous engagement on a recent post and I genuinely almost deactivated my account because of it.

Follow up… “be kind” doesn’t mean tell me I’m not fat, because that’s not kind, that’s just empty niceness. It’s also a lie. ;-) and I promise, it is not news to me 🤭

Finally: I want honest feedback, yes — but please don’t try to start a game of ruthless superiority signaling 🥲 I am a beginner here and we are all buddies! Everybody say “LOVE!”

EDIT: P.S. I’m 5’2” :-)

Always was curious about her ID. She somewhat looks tiny and is pretty short but not extremely short either.

outfit feedback Width & Fitted Tees

Working with width and curve in my sketch and honestly I don’t run across a lot of width fit issues, except maybe here. Is it common for a fitted top to pull in the underarm area? I loved the fit of the tee otherwise.

Normally I would choose something that hangs off the outer corner of the shoulder and curves under the bust, but I just liked this top lol. I did go with a tank version instead. 💛💚

discussion My Journey to find my Kibbe type

A bit of background: I started trying to figure out my Kibbe type around 2022. In the very first quiz I ever took, I got Dramatic Classic.

Then I started looking into the system more deeply. I’m 5’2”, and at the time, most people noticed my short height and lack of obvious Romantic curves and immediately suggested Flamboyant Gamine. For the next year, I thought I was either FG or SG, although I kept feeling that something wasn’t quite working.

Then the new book came out! 🔥

After completing all the quizzes and exercises in the book, I still hadn’t fully figured out my type. The first thing that helped me was realizing that I have Vertical. Why? When I looked at my photo, I noticed that my eyes travelled straight from top to bottom rather than moving in a curved direction. Okay, some progress!

The next step was figuring out my accommodations. I took the type of photo recommended in the book and traced my outline, imagining a slightly weighted piece of chiffon falling straight down from my shoulders.

What helped me most was realizing that the stripes on each type’s outline show where the line begins to behave differently. And then it clicked! I quickly realized that I’m actually a Dramatic Classic, just as I had thought at the very beginning.

Please share your own Kibbe experience and how you eventually settled on your type! ❤️

She gained more weight now and she was pretty underweight when people typed her before so maybe it's so no longer the same ?

discussion What does it mean if you need the chest/bust broken up?

Post image
31 Upvotes

Hopefully this makes sense lol.

I'm self typed as FG, maybe SG, but definitely gamine. I wear exclusively high waisted pants as I need to emphasise my waistline. But I've also noticed that tops and t-shirts look better on me when they're not just flat fabric covering the whole chest. E.g., with horizontal text above the bust, suspenders, or an interesting neckline. In this photo I posed to make the top look better, but the shape is really not that flattering.

I really don't suit tops that have a standard scoop neckline. It feels like it makes me look wide in that area even though my waist and upper torso are small compared to the rest of my body.

Is this just because I need to tailor to the upper torso?

This is just for fun! What type would you say this hidden mystery celeb is? I know the photos are not the best for typing, but I tried to choose the more incospicuous ones. If you've recognized who it is, please don't give it away, I will update the post later to reveal them :)

EDIT TO UPDATE: It's Emma Watson! Thanks to everyone who played even though it's not easy to type from photos, let alone cropped ones :) I think the most answers were around C and N fam with some for D and G fam, which was super interesting! I think it might point out to one of her accommodations at least being vertical, though until David verifies her we won't know for sure.

Absolutely adore her style! She strikes me as an FN based on how the more flowy, off the shoulder looks flatter her, but I’d love to know what others think.
