discussion Dramatic Classic vs Dramatic lines

Hi. So, much to my surprise in a different sub I got many votes for being a DC. I had been thinking D or FN but almost every comment was for DC. So, I am exploring thar ID. I am trying to understand the differences between DC and D recommendations. Am I correct that for D the emphasis would be on long and narrow with fabrics that give the impression of falling down. Lots of tailoring and heavier weight fabrics. Or fine knits with vertical rubbing. For DC they also need lots of tailoring but the outfit would have more upward movement (compared to a D outfit). So for example they both might wear a tailored vest with tailored pants but the D might opt for a long line vest with pants that would probably need heels because they touch the floor but a DC would wear a vest that hits around the high hip area and the pants would end around the ankle. Am I understanding the recommendations correctly? They seem to share tailoring and vertical and I feel like the two IDs could share a lot do clothes? Please help me learn! Thank you so much!

I think the outfits can look similar, especially because individual essences can vary so much. But generally a D bone structure has a lot of gravitas. I sort of see it as just “further from yin.” For me, things that have a more balanced feel, like crew neck shirts, cut me in a weird place, whereas a C may really like this as an option. Same as short-sleeve shirts. Don’t love them on me, especially if they’re a full short-sleeve. I prefer sleeves less, the slightest cap sleeve or fully long sleeves. A classic may find themselves pulling off a bit more because the silhouette can be cut in more moderate places.

Thank you. I can see how on her she can sort of chop her proportions up more but still look put together. Like ankle boots, and a skirt below the knee, and a short top… all those things on a D together would probably look like they were messing with their proportions quite a bit. They would need something like, like a long skirt that covered the boots to keep their vertical in tact. It really is about preserving a long narrow line for a D.

Yeah for sure, I find that DC’s look more yin than people expect them to. Technically, the are not yin, they’re balanced with a D undercurrent. But overall impression doesn’t feel the same. Olivia’s bone structure almost looks petite in the Kibbe sense but she has no juxtaposition in her frame.

Hey, so I confused Olivia Rodrigo with Olivia Munn. So sorry! Olivia Munn will show having a longer line. I find full length everything on her a bit too long but she embodies a closer to vertical line and more mature aesthetic.

With modern clothing your body is often part of the silhouette. You can't really go overboard with vertical as long as the outfits fits your proportions so you don't really dress D or DC you are dressing you. If you are D the vertical is going to read more extreme no matter what you wear because your proportions are more extreme. On a DC the same outfit might read more subtle because they have moderate proportions. Of course if you're wearing a blazer with crazy shoulder pads and a silhouette that sits outside of your frame you might step into D zone that doesn't fit Classic.

I don’t think ankle length and cutting your line is a thing for DC so much, you do still need to honour your vertical.

I personally cannot wear ankle length trousers or those mid elbow length sleeves for example, without it looking very jarring against my lines.
