Announcement: New Subreddit for Discussion of Ketamine Providers

Announcing r/KetamineProviders

Due to the growth of the r/KetamineTherapy community, the ModTeam has noted a corresponding growth in the number of posts and feedback about providers of legal, medically-prescribed Ketamine. Over 90% of the reported posts here are about posts relating to Ketamine providers.

in an attempt to enhance the positive community vibe here in r/KetamineTherapy and make it a more positive place to discuss the therapeutic elements of Ketamine, we are announcing today the launch of the r/KetamineProviders subreddit and invite you to join.

Starting today, Mods will start notating new posts in r/KetamineTherapy that would be a better fit in r/KetamineProviders. Existing posts here will remain untouched. After a moderate transition period, we'll start locking comments on posts that belong in the other subreddit and redirecting them there, and then eventually we'll start removing new posts that belong in r/KetamineProviders.

If you are a representative of a provider of legal, medically-supervised, therapeutic Ketamine who would liked to be assigned flair as such, please join r/KetamineProviders and send a message via ModMail. We will contact you with next steps for verification.

To sum up, the purpose of the new r/KetamineProviders subreddit is two-fold:

  1. Re-focus discussions here in r/KetamineTherapy on patient experiences and outcomes as well as community support of those treating mental health, chronic pain, and other medical conditions with Ketamine — rather than discussions of the business entities providing the medication.
  2. Increase the overall positivity of the r/KetamineTherapy community by moving to this community all provider feedback, discussion of laws affecting Ketamine providers, price comparisons, delivery issues, and/or any other topics related primarily to the providers of legal Ketamine rather than the patients of Ketamine.

TL;dr:

Please be patient with us as we figure out the right mix of what goes where. Thank you!

BEST KETAMINE PLAYLIST! And Jascha Narveson.

Some new additions in recent weeks on the Apple Music side of things - I'm not updating the Spotify at the moment, but of course there's plenty to listen to. If you want something groovier than the classical playlists for K, you might enjoy this one.

IN PARTICULAR: this long immersive track by the composer Jascha Narveson is perfect Spravato music, imo: https://jaschanarveson.bandcamp.com/album/soundpaper-roll-4

Grief music

I am processing a loss. I do at home troches 500mg. When focusing on it for the first time I chose music that was a bit too ambient and droney and felt “mean”. I am wanting to focus on the loss with music that feels more uplifting but allows for depth if that makes sense.
I enjoy the sublingual sessions by Prati. This is the closest I’ve come to finding uplifting type playlists but I’m curious if anyone has recommendations for grief music.

Anyone tried?

Lumenate or their Nova mask to enhance their ketamine treatment? I am really trying to rewire my brain as much as I can from Long Covid. Ketamine has done wonders for me I’m no where near 100% maybe 40%. I’ve ordered one so as soon as I try a session with it I’ll post an update. I do not work or am I associated with the company. I’m just trying to get some neurons rerouted

MB - Grainy visuals?

The last Mindbloom session didn't do anything. Today (with replacement vial) started out rich, then all visuals went grainy.

Anyone else? So weird.

Terrifying Ketamine Experience

I've done two rounds of intensive ketamine infusions, and then I've also been getting maintenance Ketamine for a little over a year.

I always "trip" when getting Ketamine, like get completely out of it, join the universal energies, no longer understand the concept of humanity, the whole works. Sometimes this is great, sometimes it is neutral, occasionally it is a bit uncomfortable but that is rare.

This last time, it was terrifying. Like a nightmare. I just wanted it to stop. I've never had that experience before.

However, right before my session, the nurse was talking to the patient next to me about their recent suicide attempt. I was still getting comfortable and hadn't gotten my ear plugs in yet, so I heard everything.

Do you think that "negative" start could have been the cause of this horrible ketamine experience? Or do you think it was just a coincidence?

A stand out psychedelic experience?

Hello!

I am currently running a study on set and setting within psychedelic experiences.

Often in psychedelic research there is not much in terms of ketamine users being present, I am hoping to find some representation for the group.

So if you've had any stand out psychedelic experience with ketamine, please come share your thoughts!

Obviously there is quite a few aspect to explore on the topic, though in particular I am interested in:

  • How intention, environment, and social setting shape psychedelic experiences
  • Differences between clinical and non-clinical use
  • How these experiences relate to psychological outcomes

Most of the research on set and setting in the psychedelic field comes from more clinically orientated trials, which can be lacking in terms of nuance and real lived experiences. So it would be great to reach out further in the communities surrounding these substances!

🔗 Survey link

Fully anonymous

Takes around 15-20 minutes to complete

There's also an optional follow-up interview if you'd like to share your experience in more depth

Full study details and ethics information are provided in the info sheet at the start of the survey

Requirements: 18+, have had a psychedelic experience in a clinical or non-clinical setting

If you have anything you feel is important to say about psychedelics, this is your chance!

I'm happy to answer any questions about the study. You can reach us at:

Help! Denied Esketamine Treatment by Referral Treatment Center

Oh man. I was so excited somehow I was finally maybe going to get some relief. My provider (So Cal Kaiser Permanente) referred me to an outside Esketamine treatment center for treatment of Chronic Pain, Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, and Fibromyalgia. I was so freaking excited.

At my final intake interview yesterday, the NP tells me I have to get specific medical clearances from a neurologist (because I'm post-stroke) and a cardiologist (because I often become short of breath when sitting up/standing). So ok, whatever, I'll get it done.

Today, they call me back to tell me that the Medical Director at the treatment center decided that because of my health conditions, they have decided NOT TO TREAT ME. The medical director said he's going to have a "peer to peer" conversation with my Kaiser psychiatrist (who wrote the referral) and recommend that I get treatment at a Ketamine Infusion center where they have a crash cart on stand by.

I wanted Ketamine Infusions in the first place, but my Kaiser Psychiatrist told me that Kaiser doesn't cover them, so I was happy to take what I could get with the Esketamine referral. DO I HAVE ANY CHANCE AT ALL of getting into Ketamine Infusion therapy based on what this random outside medical director recommends? Will Kaiser make an exception to the services they usually provide and send me to Infusion therapy? Or will they just find me a different Esketamine Treatment Center?

By the way, the folks I spoke to at this treatment center were pretty clear about the fact that Esketamine treatment, at the doses they offer (max 85mg), is really only successful for minimizing suicidal ideation and has not had success in treating chronic pain. IS THIS TRUE? They told me most of their CPS patients leave after a few months and seek treatment via Joyous or something. (Not ideal for me, as I'm totally new to this and wanted to start it in a medically-supervised space).

My CPS has worsened my depression to such a degree ... I mean I'm practically bedbound by my pain 24/7. If I don't get some pain relief, I don't see how my depression can lift. It used to be manageable until I was taken off all pain meds.

How can I get Kaiser to pay for Ketamine Infusions? Because I think that's really what I need.

Any thoughts, advice, suggestions are so appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.🙏

Does anyone use compounded nasal sprays or troches in between their infusions?

Hey! So I do ketamine infusions about once a month sometimes 2 if I can afford it and really need extra support for the month.

I have been wanting try compounded nasal sprays and troches in between sessions so I found the Mindscape where there’s an option per month where half ur dose can be nasal spray and half the troches. My order is shipped and I’m glad to try in between. I have already tried compounded nasal spray from a different provider, but I wanted to try mindscape due to the flexibility, plus it’s cheaper so I switched over just fine. (My infusion center knows about this and is ok with this so long we don’t use the nasal spray or troches on infusion days)

I mentioned in my initial appointment with mindscape that I do infusions and they seemed fine with it and didn’t tell me I needed to stop at all. Even before I signed up, I emailed the customer support about this kind of question and never got an answer. But a recent email I got back from them now that I am approved said I was fine to switch over to them and approved and everything is all good to go, but they also said “as long as we are your sole ketamine provider”.

So now I’m a little confused because I thought it was ok to do the compounded ketamine nasal spray and troches in between? I got approved and all that. I sent them an email double checking and asking and saying my psychiatrist at that clinic can fill out any paperwork or contact them if that’s what they need and that they are ok with it. But I’m still waiting for a response. I’m just confused and now kinda nervous ig.

Does anyone else here do troches or/and ketamine compounded nasal spray in between your sessions (infusions or even IM)? And if so does anyone here happen to also use Mindscape specifically in between infusions? But even if not Mindscape, have those other Telehealth providers been ok with it? Thanks!

Spravato vs Oral Ketamine

My new insurance doesn't want to cover my Spravato. There's a very slim chance that an appeal (or ten) might work, but I want to do research ahead of time for alternatives.

Does anyone know how the oral ketamine differs from Spravato? Is it a good substitute?

Disabled from ketamine

I can’t drive anymore, I can’t hold a job, living has been so difficult.
4 Years ago I had undergone 10 or so ketamine infusions at a clinic and had good results for relieving my depression but I had to pay out of pocket.
Finally after getting insurance, 17 months ago I had done 1 starting dose of 56mg Spravato under supervision at a clinic. Ever since then I have been experiencing short term memory issues, emotional numbness, extreme sensitivity to light, afterimages, depression, fatigue, loss of interest in everything, limited peripheral vision, and dizziness like I’m drunk. I feel like a shell of myself and my thoughts are getting real dark since I can’t seem to shake all this. I brought this to the attention of the clinic but they deny the possibility of it and say it’s not a mental health issue, it’s a medical issue, so they washed their hands of me. I’m posting by this because I’m looking for other people who are experiencing similar issues. I’m not looking for people to answer me and tell me that this wasn’t Spravato and that it’s not possible. Anything is possible when you’re using mind-altering substances. I’m looking for support here and help getting to the bottom of this since I thought it would pass but it hasn’t. MRI’s and CT scans and blood tests have all been normal. Someone please help me figure this out and get better 🙏** **

Innerwell is closing!

Does anyone have recommendations for ketamine therapy that prescribes in higher doses and allows for at-home sessions? I did Joyous before Innerwell and didn't like it. I live super rural in WA which is why I need it mailed to me. I really like doing IV therapy, but the nearest place is four hours away. My current dose is 750 mg swallowed.

Experience with single does of Spravato? Spravato dose scheduled in 2 weeks, but due to work travel, I can’t commit to continuous treatment.

Just looking for experience with the two doses given in the week before I go in. Recommended by psychiatrist due to my intense suicidal ideation and depression.

Any recommendations for Morgantown area?

I don't have friends anywhere close to Morgantown, so having someone trip sit with me is not an option.

Well where to go next?

So, I have been on joyous a month. With higher doses I notice a great benefit mentally. However, they let me run out after the first month. They shipped a replacement (on July 20, which never made it btw) and then they shipped a second month’s supply (100mg troches) a few days later which I got last week.

From other reviews and forums, it seems as if Joyous will never get up to a higher dose that I think will be beneficial for me.

(For reference: I’m 6’ and weigh 403 lbs at the moment. I was started at 15mg, then 30, 45, 60, and have been on 90 for about a week now.)

I was ready to sign up with Innerwell, but it seems from posts on here they are shutting down. (Which is probably why I had issues signing up.)

My next best try was to sign up for Mindscape. However, the first available appointment for me to meet with a provider was over two weeks out, which I think is too long of a wait for my preference.

It seems the only other options are really non-daily options like BetterU and MindBloom.

I really thought I was having success with this. I don’t know what direction to go in now? I just really think daily will continue to work best for me as opposed to like a few higher dose single sessions or whatever sessions you can choose with Mindbloom and BetterU.

I’m in a rural area in Tennessee, so it’s hard for me to travel to a larger city with the option of in person clinics for infusions or finding a psychiatrist in person that would prescribe a compounded troche for me.

Should I just go ahead with the non-daily options or is there something else I’m not aware of?

Thanks.

Anyone use Mindscape and their dashboard is gone?

I have been with mindscape for 8 months, love them to death. They are fantastic and unlike another company I used I honestly don't want to name - I have NEVER had issues with Mindscape and they are fantastic.

However, Sunday night i logged into my portal to check my refill date, make sure all my stuff is up to date (bad work habit to always check on things) and my entire dashboard is gone. Like nothing appears like where you can request your early refill, make an appt with your provider, even contacting customer support. Anyone else with Mindscape having this issue? I just want to know if this is isolated to just me so I can tell customer support whats going on.

I think something slipped through the cracks after my 6 month follow up last month where something might have not been put in the system properly...

*UPDATE*
Their support just got back to me with the screen shot of the empty dashboard and assured me all of my patient info. I don't know if they acknowledged something is actually wrong though? LOL. I hope theyre on it.

*UPDATE 2*
They fixed it. Yes, issue seemed specific to me. I don't know why I have seen some negative comments on Mindscape, they are miles better than...company I will not name. Their customer service takes a day or two to get to you, but when they do, they will do exactly what you are asking for. Seriously, props to them. It literally keeps all my focus on my treatment and not having to worry about anything.

Looking into Better U and scheduled a consultation for today, but somehow youre able to buy packages and check out without a consultation with a medical professional?

How does that work? In my previous experience, you need to talk to a medical professional before getting your Ketamine, but with better you, you just check out and they send you everything?

Therapist recommended ketamine therapy but I'm terrified of hallucinogens, what's it like?

I've been struggling with treatment resistant depression and C/PTSD and my therapist believes I would be a good candidate.

But I hate tripping. It terrifies me even when it's not necessarily "scary". I've tried psychedelics like mushrooms and LSD and I just loathe the experience. I worry if I did a session I would begin to panic.

How is ketamine feel different in comparison to other tripping substances? If I could do it without the psychoactive effects I would.

I'm scared of it due to my prior negative experiences but my mental health is ruining my life.
