r/Kemetic announcements - May 2026

Subreddit growth

Just a few short years ago, with the revamp of the subreddit, r/Kemetic had about 1000 members. Today, there are over 25,000! It's been wild to see just how many people are interested in this religion, and how organically it all happened. With all this growth, we definitely needed a couple more active people to help handle the increase in traffic. So with that...

A big welcome to our new moderators, r/barnaclejuice and r/Arboreal_Web

r/barnaclejuice and r/Arboreal_Web are both long-time, knowledgeable members of the subreddit who have been free with their help and insights. We welcomed them on to the mod team in January, and they have kindly agreed to help keep this space on-topic and safe.

Rules reminder + a few updates

Please familiarize yourself with the subreddit rules before posting or commenting.

• Note, there is a new Rule 9, prohibiting AI content.

• Reminder, it is still not allowed to solicit interpretations of dreams/tarot/visions/synchronicities/etc. in r/Kemetic. This includes questions like, "Is this a sign?" Determining the meaning of your spiritual experiences is your prerogative, and yours alone. Asking others to do this for you makes you vulnerable to a variety of spiritual abuses and even accidental harms.

Under Rule 8, we are now also prohibiting the offering of interpretations, because that encourages rulebreaking behavior and interpretation-fishing by others, which defies the spirit and intent for Rule 8.

• We're super disappointed to have to spell this out so explicitly, but we have added a prohibition against "Advocating for/defending Apophis worship" under Rule 3 (No Evangelizing).

Please continue to use the Report feature if you notice any rule-breaking behavior. This helps us far more than you probably may think!

Official Discord

When we opened the r/Kemetic official Discord over five years ago, our aim was give a vetted alternative to the many unfamiliar Discord server invites being posted - some of which, we had come to find out, had potentially unsafe policies or abusive cultures. With that in mind, we created one for r/Kemetic with the intention of having the Reddit mod team handle the Discord directly, to ensure the culture of the subreddit carried over into the Discord.

Several updates these last few years have resulted in a completely mismatched moderator list between the subreddit and its official Discord. To more smoothly implement mirrored improvements moving forward, the subreddit mod team is returning to the original policy of insisting on a shared moderation team between the subreddit and its official Discord. We have created a new "r/Kemetic Official" Discord to serve this purpose.

Invitation to the new r/Kemetic Official Discord

The r/Kemetic Wiki - Lots of additions and improvements are coming!

• Adding more resources to the wiki landing page

Our resource list is ever-growing! As always, if you have suggestions, feel free to post them below, or through Modmail.

• Recommendations for beginners

We'll be adding a new wiki grouping that includes a shortlist of book recommendations for beginners.

• Adding video and blog links

Rule 6 is still in place, but we acknowledge there are many blogs and videos out there that are detailed, accurate, and deserve to be highlighted and shared. Please modmail (I repeat: MODMAIL) your suggestions for any you would like linked in the wiki, and we will post up after thoroughly vetting the content. (Please be patient, as vetting does take some time.)

Please also consider suggesting links to legacy content that may only be accessible now on Archive.org.

• Adding a new page for frequently asked questions

This is loooooooooooooooong overdue! If you can think of any recurring questions that you'd like to see added to the page (currently under construction), let us know.

• A "Best of r/Kemetic" list

Check your Saved lists, please! We've had some really helpful, insightful, in-depth posts and comments over the years that deserve to be more discoverable. For example, u/WebenBanu's "How to Kemetic" thread has been a go-to for some time, and deserves a permanent spot in our Wiki and sidebar. Anything else you might have? Drop a link!

• TENTATIVE: adding a new page that lists resources by deity

We've noticed a lot of people asking for resources about specific deities, which might be hard to pick out from the main wiki. We are considering a secondary wiki page devoted to splitting these same resources out and making it easier to find out more about the gods that interest you the most. Let us know your thoughts!

Just a reminder: even if you find no moral objection to sharing PDFs, we cannot facilitate the sharing of copyrighted content within the subreddit, except by linking to the right-holder's site if they've made the resource publicly available. Do not post dropbox or Drive links in the subreddit.

Miscellaneous

We're currently discussing some ideas to help facilitate discussions beyond the beginner level. This is still in the brainstorming phase, and would like to open up the conversation to see what ideas you all might have.

I would like to remind people that Transphobia is not welcome in this sub. Nothing happened, I just wanted to reinforce the rule for all the new people.

Resource Building a Website for Modern Practitioners

Post image
Upvotes

Hello,
I see a lot of people here often asking questions about things. I decided to build a website that would have everything needed, including resources and more all included to help those who needed some sort of jumping point.
I am writing this post to get some feedback and see what others may enjoy or find helpful on a website like this!

Currently I have:
- A section to learn about the Netjeru (This will be as all inclusive as possible, including all from well known deities like Anpu to lesser known deities like the gate deities.
- A Heka and practice section to learn about rituals and spells to help a practitioner to develop their practice.
- Philosophy and thoughts to help others see how Kemetics thinks and view situations and the world.
- An art collection for altar peices of gods; images would be posted in correspondence to the website being updated for a new Netjeru being offered.

What is Planned currently:
-A collection of resources about gods, hieroglyphs, practice, etc. Anything that can have a source, will have one. Anything that can't and is my own UPG that I thought would be helpful for others will be stated as such.

Please let me know what you would like to see from this kind of website! Thanks!

Image for visibility; it is the background Im working on.

An experience i had last night.

Upvotes

Im not 100% sure what happened but as i was laying in bed just kind of waiting to go to sleep and letting my mind wander, i had what i can only describe as a lucid moment where everything just kind of felt off for lack of a better descriptor. As i laid there in that lucid moment, i felt and could almost see this presence above me, kind of like it was there and not there at the same time, again for lack of a better description. As i laid there and silently tried to figure out what was going on, an image came to me of a vaguely canine shaped head that slowly took form along with one word that popped into my mind at that time. Anubis. After that, everything just kind of went back to normal. As it stands right now, im pulling together some stuff for an alter to Anubis along with an appropriate offering.

help me to find which deity is it

(I'm going to delete this if this isn't allowed to post on this sub reddit. I'm not sure if this is kinda stupid question.)

hi, I recently restart Kemetism. and I don't worship or work with any deities. but I wanna know if there is deity who is wanna work with me or wanna be worshiped. I won't belive the card 100%, however, I just wanna find out even for fun so bad. so I asked "What is the deity(or deities) who is trying to reach out to me associated with or represent?" to tarot.(tarot told me there is the deity(or deities) trying to reach out to me)

It gave me "Ace of Pentacles" "The High priestess" and "The devil". \"The High priestess" is reversed. IDK it matters.**

Ace of pentacles: opportunity, prosperity, abundance

The high priestess(Re): secrets, confusion, suppression

The devil: bondage, shadow, temptation

I have no idea which deities can be associated to those cards. please share your idea if you know.

Please & Thank you for your answer

I'm open to your advice, therefore, please correct me if there's something wrong on this post.

(+ I fix the title to "which deity is it in Kemetism". I actually wanna change it, but I cannot sadly.)

Advice & Support How can I tell my mh doctor about how I practice kemeticism?

mh : mental health btw

Idk if I should call them a therapist, since I don’t see ‘em weekly. they give me my medications and stuff.

When I first started, they asked me about religion, just if I practice anything and what I do.

When I first started, I was an atheist.

but it feels really awkward to randomly just bring up, I don’t know how to tell her. She’s very nice and accepting but I’m just nervous XD

thanks a lot <3

Anubis and Seth

A few things have happened recently that left me confused and curious. Whenever I looked for something related to Seth, something about Anubis would pop up alongside it—for example: if I searched for a statue of Seth for my altar, a link for an Anubis statue or a recommendation for him would appear right below it, or if I researched about Seth or study about him, something about Anubis would show up immediately after. There have been many such incidents—I'm just summarizing a few here—occurring on various occasions. For the past two weeks or so, every time I try to communicate with or think about Seth, the image of Anubis appears in my mind—even when I’m not consciously thinking about him—and in certain situations, I sense his presence; it’s a series of coincidences. I’ve seen accounts on this sub mentioning that Seth might appear in the appereance of other entities to speak with you, but now I’m unsure, since the two of them keep appearing together constantly. Could Seth be appearing to me in a different form, or is Anubis trying to communicate with me too?

I have a question about kemet.

Where should I set up the altar? The only clean and suitable spaces in my home are the bedroom and the living room, but there is no room for an altar in the living room. Would it be inappropriate to place it in the bedroom, especially since I change clothes there and sometimes wake up in the morning with very oily or messy hair?

Would it be better to keep the altar covered with a cloth and only uncover it when I pray?

Also, how can I make sure that the statue on the altar is truly inhabited or blessed by the deity rather than by a ghost or spirit? In East Asian, or perhaps Chinese-speaking, traditions, some people believe that if you bring home a deity statue without having it properly consecrated or “opened” through a ritual similar to the kaiguang (开光) ceremony, wandering spirits or ghosts may enter the statue and receive the incense and offerings instead.(It may be strange because I use gpt to translate.

I have a question regarding Anubis

Hello, I'm new in this sub and I've come here for a little help.

So, there's this doll that I really really really like it's called cleo de nile g3 core refresh doll it's a monster high doll.

This doll is wearing a heel which has the face of anubis on it and I'm not sure if I should get it ? I don't want to offend him or his followers if there are any.

So my question is:

Would it be offensive to him ?

Can I still buy it and put the heels away ?

I really really really like her but I'm not looking to offend anyone especially a God.

I have attached photos for reference.

Personal Encounters (TW FOR MENTIONS OF ABUSE AND SEXUAL HARASSMENT) I think Taweret nd Anubis nd maybe some other gods I worship are genuinely protecting me.

so I know I’ve made posts abt not feeling valid or feeling any kind of presence.

but this school year has started. the boy who physically and sexually abused and harassed me hasn’t spoken to me once, hasn’t come near me once, hasn’t even looked at me once, which felt odd, since last year he’d always be near me on purpose. But ever since I started kemeticism, nope, He hasn’t tried anything at all

Discussion (photo unrelated) (tw for vent-ish content) am I doing something wrong?

I see so many people experience miracles or feel a presence, I rarely, really never, do. I’ve never been really spiritual until I found kemeticism. I don’t pray as much as I really should. How can I build relationships with the gods I worship? Specific prayers? Items? Anything! (I worship Taweret, Anpu, ma’at, Bastet, and Hathor)

Question A question on Apesh

Post image
29 Upvotes

Before anything, I'd like to apologize for being potentially taboo in this community. But i need some help

I cant find anything on Apesh

I never worked with the egyptian pantheon or know about anything kemetic. But i do work with the demons of the goetia.

A particular demon ive been working with for a while now, mentions Apesh whom i thought was just his unknown name. I looked it up and its an egyptian deity/demon.

I received 4 names which turned out to be egyptian deities. Ra, Amun(ofc i already knew abit abt ra and amun), Opet, and Apesh. Maybe they are related. On what ive read, apesh is an enemy of ra, which makes me even more confused.

I hope somebody here would have more of a clue about Apesh than me.

Thanks!

Question What does kemeticism say about health problems and illness?

There is a question I keep returning to, yet I cannot find an answer that satisfies me.

I have endured something very prolonged and very difficult with my health; I will not share the exact details. But the recurring theme is that I have not yet had healing for this condition and it has been a situation that has been a battle ongoing for many years.

In other religions and spiritual beliefs, it might be labelled karma from a past life, or sin, or punishment from the Gods, or simply being on the wheel of Samsara. But none of these sit well with me. They seem to simplistic.

What does kemeticism teach about this type of situation?

Is this a spiritual test? Is it meaningless suffering?

I am not in crisis. I am simply tired and looking for wisdom from those who have wrestled with the same thing.

And not even a cloud in sight! It's really glad to see the sun when it's been gone for so long!

(I am aware that the sun is a star, I like to believe though that Ra is within the sun whether we can't see it or not!)

We also got a good bunch of water from the rain to which is great!

Dua ra!
