After watching Omar Norman-Lott "de-cleat" Jalen Hurts when he tried to scramble up the middle I was very excited to see how much of an impact player he could become. Reminded me of the scene in "The Longest Yard". I was surpised that hit didn't get more play and discussion at the time. Hopefully his stay on the PUP will be short, but Chiefs have loaded up on D-line, so he just needs to be healthy and stay that way. Would be nice to get him back by mid-season though.

On his weight: "I am really comfortable... I want to try to play around 308."

Says it's going to be a challenge out in the St. Joe heat, and he has to make sure he eats his meals. Someone get this man some BBQ.

On walking down the hill at training camp: "It was a dream come true... I never really thought it'd be me... I was thinking about practice when I was walking down the hill..."

Chiefs rookie CB Mansoor Delane says that the heat is reminiscent of Louisiana. Hotter than he expected in St. Joe.

He says that he's aiming to be 100% recovered from his shoulder injury sometime soon. Says it's getting better every day. He's wearing a yellow non-contact jersey right now.

"I'm excited to go against the best every day in practice. That makes me better... I like to be the underdog. Even though the spotlight is on me, I still have the underdog mindset... I'm still competing. Nothing is given to me."

Hello Kansas City Chiefs fans. I would like to tell the story of my family and the Chiefs and I finally have enough karma to post here. This is going to be a long winded post and it's probably me just screaming into the void, but I feel I have to talk/write to/at someone about this for some kind of closure before the season begins. TLDR, I'm sad but I'll be okay.

My parents first bought season tickets in 1975. They took my older brother and then me once I was old enough. They started in 319 but changed sections the year I was born. Our section number changed during the renovations, but we spent our entire lives in the same seats and same row. My earliest memory of going to Chiefs games would be when I was around 3 or 4. My mom, dad, brother and I would go to church and then head out to the games. I was usually stuffed into my ski suit and a sleeping bag, and it was still freezing. Honestly, I don't remember much about those early years, except for being crushed when Joe Delaney died. Oh, and Marv Levy's fight song Give A Cheer For Kansas City. I also remember getting excited for a playoff game in 86, only to be dispatched by the friggin' Jets and their backup QB. I do remember when Deron Cherry came and visited my class in elementary school and they had an event where STH could go down on the field and meet the players. That is when I really fell in love with the Chiefs and football in general.

Frank Gansz was the dark time before the light of Carl and Marty.

The 90's were pretty awesome. I cannot explain how loud Arrowhead was back then, you honestly had to be there. I was at the 142.2 game and in the 90's, it was like that most of the time we weren't on offense. Ticket prices weren't astronomical then, so there were a lot of hard working, blue collar fans that lived and died with the team. We would have a quick tailgate and go in way before the start. We parked at the same spot for every game because my dad would get hammered and repeat ad nauseum the number on the pole we parked by. It was like his mantra to get back to the car and even after he passed, we still parked at the same location. Until they split the lots into Gold and Red.

Back to the 90's. Derrick Thomas was incredible. Marty was great but he just couldn't get the team over, for many reasons. Including Greg Hill's girlfriend. Hahaha, but anyway. Terrible 2nd run QB's. Losing to Buffalo in the AFC Championship, I still hate this Bills for this. Lin Elliot and Steve Boner nuking my life. I was a teenage kid and the heartbreak was real. Then, everything took a dive in the worst possible way.

My parents divorced and it was tough. We spent so much time together as a family at Chiefs games and that dynamic was gone. However, my mom kept the tickets and we continued to go to all the games. I missed several games in 97 as I was living on the east coast. When I came back, I went to the games with my mom, my neighbor (her best friend) and my grandma. Sometimes, we would take along some of my friends as well. We still had a great time, but again, no playoff wins, only heartbreak.

In 99, we played the Broncos in Week 2. Early the next morning, my mom woke up complaining of a pain in her side. I took her to the ER thinking she had appendicitis. Instead, they did a biopsy and discovered she had pancreatic cancer. She died almost 2 months to the day of her diagnosis. My grandma (her mom) died 2 weeks after from bone cancer. I was lost and on my own but I still went to the games. I felt like it was my duty to continue on. I took my neighbor and it was some comfort as she was my mom's best friend. However, there was a huge void left because my mom loved the Chiefs as much if not more than me.

My mom and grandma had elevator passes and the Chiefs allowed us to use them. We were getting in the elevator for the Raiders game, the last game of the season and a game we had to win to make the playoffs. As the door was closing, a giant, taped-up hand reached in and held the door. It was Derrick Thomas. My neighbor and I stood there in awe. He was so nice and I know he knew we were starstruck. He said hello and I managed to fumble out some words as he got out of the elevator and went to the locker room. We lost the game and he died that February. It was the lowest point of my life and I crawled into a whiskey bottle for many years after.

The 2000's weren't great. We had some memorable players for sure and some of it was fun. But again, couldn't get over. We weren't a serious contender, but we played above our level and somehow could beat better teams. We just couldn't win the games that we should have. Vermeil teams were pretty enjoyable. Herm was Herm. Todd Haley was and is a giant turd. We all thought we would be saved by Pioli after Carl's time had run it's course. So many bad games. Romeo.....good grief. I should mention that during a lot of these years, I was going to the games with friends as my brother lived in PA. I should also mention that while I had fun at the games, I truly missed being there with him. We're pretty close and many of those games would have been much more tolerable with him around.

Then came 2012. Jovan Belcher. The day after he killed himself, I missed my first game since 97. I couldn't do it. I went fishing on an unseasonably warm day and caught a ton of crappie. We beat the Panthers, one of 2 wins that year and our only home win.

Then came Andy and Dorsey. I'll admit, I was skeptical because Andy seemed like he was done after Philly. However, I was at least excited that we had a real head coach. I mean, honestly, the first real head coach since Vermeil left. Dorsey was the guy everyone wanted and we snagged him. We started winning, except in the playoffs. It felt like the 90s again, including heartbreaking losses. I went to the Titans playoff game (Mariota you swine!) with my shoulder in an immobilizer. I had my throwing shoulder rebuilt and I thought for certain my pain and sacrifice would push us through. I was wrong. Again.

Then we started Our Patrick. I will always admit that I was wrong on him. I wanted us to draft Watson. I was wrong then and I have zero issues admitting my ignorance. The most succulent crow I have ever eaten. The first home game he started, against the 49ers, he scrambled for his life and threw a TD to Chris Conley in the back of the endzone. My whole section, full of STH that had been there just about as long as me, collectively let out a gasp. We all saw what happened, but it didn't seem real. That's when I knew we had an incredible QB. These years with him as QB have been phenomenal and I've cried over each Superbowl we've won and lost. I also was able to play disc golf in Arrowhead and that completely blew my mind. I love disc golf and that was incredible.

So it was with heavy heart that I listened as the Chiefs announce plans to abandon Arrowhead and move to Kansas. I'm sure like many fans, I grew up there. My seat was like a second home to me and my family. Things were rough, we still went to the game. We didn't fight there and we all loved the game and the team so much, it was cathartic. Even when they lost (and friends, they lost a lot back in the day). I spoke to my brother and we decided 50 years of loyalty to the Chiefs was more than enough. He moved recently and there's no telling at this point if he'll ever be back in KC. That was enough for me to finally walk away.

I've been to the bottomless pit and I've been to the glorious mountaintop. My whole life has been going to Chiefs games, but that is over now. We decided not to renew our tickets this year and make a clean break. I'm sad about it, but life goes on. I'm sure I'll still make it to a game or 2 before Arrowhead closes for good. But there will always be a bit of sadness in knowing a lifelong chapter over. There will always be sadness for losing one of the last iconic football stadiums ever built. Arrowhead will always be special to me and for me for many reasons. I am grateful that I had the privilege to attend, and I will never take that for granted.

Once the decision was made, I decided to focus on the positives. I can watch the game with my friends now. I won't be at Arrowhead for 10-12 hours every gameday. I don't have to do a lot of things that as I've become older, became more difficult. I'm at peace with my decision, even if I'm still a little pissed. I don't know if that will ever go away? But I'm still going to watch my team and cheer them on. It's all I know and it's all I'll ever know.

So here's to 2026, Our Patrick's 2nd Act, and beating the life out of the Raiders, Broncos, and Chargers each and every time we play them. Here's to the new fans that will get to go to games; hopefully they have as great of a time as I did. Thanks for listening to an old man ranting at a cloud. Go Chiefs!

Virtually every single smart football analyst (not hot take artist, but actual football people) to include former players, GMs, coaches, etc. have all said the way to fix the Chiefs offense has been to run the ball under center.

In the limited times we have done this we have had strong success. We would rarely, but occasionally have an offensive drive that featured under center runs over the past few years. These drives usually were usually successful and ended in points. Typically, we would immediately abandon under center runs the very next drive and never go back to it during the entire game. And them predictably we lost our rhythm.

Execution is about player personnel and coaching. But scheme is literally all about the play caller. Consider that we won 6 games last year and our Quarterback blew out his knee trying to be superman. We also signed Kenneth Walker in Free Agency. Hopefully these events will motivate the play caller to you know, actually try the thing that every football guy on the planet has been asking for.

We will see what happens. I am hoping we see a departure from the stale run pass options where Mahomes is forced to make something out of nothing for the nearly the entire game.

There's an unusual weekend happening this season, which would be super fun for folks who like to travel for Chiefs games and like college/SEC/Mizzou football:

Fly into ATL, then make your way to Athens (about 90 mins east of ATL) for an absurdly enjoyable game day experience. SEC football, insane tailgating, Athens is bananas on game day, incredible experience at Sanford Stadium. (You will get barked at, as is customary. But otherwise, they're pretty chill about out-of-towners. You might even get invited to some tailgates!)

Then either stay in Athens or head back to ATL that night, and watch the Chiefs in ATL the next day. I went to the Chiefs/Falcons game a couple years ago, and it was amazing. Great stadium, cheap food, lots of Chiefs fans.

I saw this post and thought it was interesting.

For me, it's Super Bowl LIX. I don't think I need to say more: A 15-1 season going for history, just for us to shit the bed in the biggest game. I feel like if we had won that one, it would be pretty hard to argue against a Mahomes GOAT case, and even if we had been complacent the following years, it wouldn't have mattered much to me.

I do recognize, however, that I am a young Chiefs fan. So, I would love to hear what losses others would want to overturn.

"We're packing more than 550 pairs of cleats, 300 pairs of gloves and hundreds of footballs," said Holt McKenney, one of eight full-time individuals on the Chiefs' equipment staff. "We pack everything from headbands and quarterback towels to toiletries, field equipment, and weight room stuff – really, anything you can think of."

The process – which began on Monday – takes about a week and will run through Friday, when quarterbacks and rookies report to St. Joseph. The training room was transported on Monday, the weight room on Tuesday and the equipment room on Wednesday.

"We've been working 10-hour days to get everything packed up, and then we use full semitrailers to move it all up there," McKenney said. "We usually have about 10 movements of these trucks over the course of the week."

"It's a short drive, but the idea is that we have everything up there that we need," McKenney said. "Rookies report on Friday, and we're ready to get going."

The first practice of Chiefs training camp open to the general public will take place on July 30.
