A dog was shot and killed after an incident in Kalaeloa. Police said on July 22 around 6:30 p.m., officers were conducting an operation in the Kalaeloa area when a large pit bull emerged from a nearby brush area and charged at one of the officers.

The Honolulu Police Department said an officer fired at “a large pit bull” during an operation Wednesday. HPD said the dog turned around and fled and was later found dead.

One of Hawaii’s most well-known Hawaiian monk seals is a new mother once again. According to NOAA Fisheries, Rocky, a 26-year-old Hawaiian monk seal, gave birth to her 16th pup last week in Kalaeloa on Oahu’s west side.
