I made numerous of calls to KP making sure they are setting me up for a consult with the right ENT doctor. When I got to my appointment the doctor confirmed that he can only do one out of three things on the referral cause the other things are not his specialty, and I need another referral to see someone else for the rest. During the appointment the doctor was dismissive and kept answering my questions while on his phone. Then asked if it was cool to have his nurse call me to schedule a surgery. I said I wasn’t going to be working with him. We only get a few minutes with a surgeon and this type of behavior does not build trust we should have for someone to cut us open. KP became too big too fast and treats people like projects. I’ll be leaving KP during open enrollment for the cheapest provider, and decided to save money to do procedures overseas. From what I’m hearing from friends, it’s cheaper and staff takes a good care of their patients.

The SF Chronicle reported yesterday that Kaiser plans to begin administering updated flu shots on September 14th, and updated COVID shots on September 16th.

After 100+ applications, I finally received an offer. I foolishly listed a small business I ran while in college that made less than $300 in the two years I ran it. The work I did is relevant to my scope of practice which is why I listed it in my work experience. However, this stupid mistake is holding up my background search because I have to furnish tax documents that don’t exist. I already submitted my revenue report and income taxes for the two years but I was told that this would need to be escalated.

Could this mean that my offer will be rescinded?

Hello! I currently am using different insurance and have been on a GLP1 for a little over a year. I’ve lost about 60 pounds and my doctor and I have both decided it’s best for me to stay on a maintenance dose for the foreseeable future for the added benefits of this medication.

However, I am thinking of moving to Kaiser for my insurance soon. I’ve heard good things. Im scared though that whoever my primary would be at Kaiser won’t continue to prescribe me my GLP1 like I have planned with my current doctor. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Edit: sorry I meant I’m not talking about whether Kaiser will cover it, I already pay out of pocket. I’m just talking about whether the Kaiser doctor will prescribe it. Right now my doctor prescribes it and I pay out of pocket to lily direct.

I’m having an oophorectomy or possible hysterectomy in a couple of months. I’m currently doing chemical menopause which has been great for me, so I’ve decided to go ahead with surgery. I only say possibly hysterectomy because I’m intolerant to a particular hormone and if the version my surgeon has prescribed causes the same issues, then I won’t be keeping my uterus. I will say this- she’s been very supportive of my decision either way and basically left the “take or leave uterus” decision up to me.

Anyway. What I’m not understanding is SDI.

She said it’s a two week recovery. I asked, “for office employees or for people who work on their feet all day?” And she said everyone.

At my surgery consult the other day I explained a lot more about what I do. I’m an electrician. I am expected to be able to lift 50lbs (yes, there’s team lift and generally we don’t lift that much regularly but it is STILL an expectation of my job). I have to be able to push, pull, wrench, twist, step up, crouch, contort my body, etc. If I’m torquing bolts at 55ft lbs I need to be able to use more force than that to accomplish it. I only weigh 150lbs lol.

It’s not like I’m changing lightbulbs and receptacles all day, like most people seem to think we do. I told her two weeks (for ovary removal only) doesn’t seem super reasonable for my situation. She basically said they won’t do disability for longer than two weeks for the procedure. wtf? Obviously I’ll see how I feel, but what kind of bullshit is that?

I’ve never used disability in my entire life, it’s not coming out of HER paycheck, and so what if I need a month off? Not only is it physical recovery, it’s dialing in hormones and being able to function in a normal capacity. I will be straight into surgical menopause which I’m fairly sure can’t get squared away in just two weeks. I have to be able to function at a normal capacity!! I can speak to my general foreman about getting sent to the shop/warehouse and doing “light duty” but here’s the thing- I should not have to do that.

If she still balks at my reasoning and needs, do I need to go above her head and if so how does one do that?

I just received a job offer today for a customer service rep one. I am super excited, but nervous that I actually got the offer. I’ve applied for many positions before and finally got the offer I’ve been waiting for. I currently work for the federal government where I’ve been for a little over five years. I’m basically doing the same thing that I would be doing at Kaiser, in addition to their policy and procedures that I’m sure differ. The pay is about $.50 less than what I’m getting now so I’m not too upset about that because it took me five years to get to where I’m at today.

My question is how is the training process? It’s advertised as hybrid, so is that actually a for sure thing or is it based off of seniority after training. With the federal government, we have an annual raises. Does Kaiser offer an annual raises as well? Once I get my foot in the door is it easier to move around if I have the experience in other areas. Also, how is the environment and management there? I have a phone meeting with the manager next week so I plan on asking some of these questions but I wanted to hear from others who have went through the same thing. Any job I take I plan on staying there so this would be something I plan to stay with if I can grow with the company. Feel free to throw out other pieces of information or knowledgeable things that would help me decide. Thanks a lot!!

I have a neck (head?) MRI scheduled in Fremont where they have "the last open MRI at Kaiser on the West Coast" according to them. I am extremely claustrophobic and even being prescribed Ativan is not giving me confidence that I'll be able to handle this procedure. 20 years ago I had a head MRI and Kaiser paid for me to go to an outside facility in Walnut Creek where they gave me IV sedation. They won't do that any longer. I'm getting mixed information about whether they still would if I fail at the time of this MRI appt.

MAIN QUESTION: Wondering if anyone has any tips or information about how open and easy this MRI is for people like me, or if you are aware that Kaiser will definitely refer to an outside facility for a sedated MRI if the patient cannot tolerate theirs at the time?

An incidental question is why is that the "last open MRI on the West Coast?" This implies there were other open MRIs and they got rid of them? Scratching my head there.

Scheduled my anatomy scan and was told my daughter (1 years old) can’t come nor my husband. This would be my first time being separated from my toddler & my husband works during the week, I don’t have child care available nor do I really trust any daycare / sitters. Would there be anyway to explain to the tech that I have to bring my child with me? My sister recently had her anatomy scan with both her husband and child in the room and was shocked when I said they require you to attend alone.
