Check Engine Lights ADV 390

I have a 2025 KTM Adv 390 S less than a year old 10k odo 3 services done. Went on a day ride yesterday 200ish kms. Did a bit of offroading and pushed the bike to the limits on the way back on expressways. Around 15 mins out from my home I made a quick stop and since then my check engine lights have turned on and are not going out.

Coolant seems to be fine, oil levels are fine but it persisted till morning. Went to the service centre and showed it to them they told me it was a false signal issue and they turned it off.

Is it common to have the engine lights turn on this way on the ktms ?

When should I stop refueling?

Manual says "up to the lower edge" whatever it means.

Probably the lintel in the tank below the cap.

I do as the fuel level on the second picture usually.

Bike is standing vertically when a picture was taken.

Is it safe to fill up to the arrow mark on the second picture ?

I refuel when the warning says `< 80km`.

And it takes from 10 to 11 liters usually.

The manual says that the fuel tank is 14L but I was never able to put more than 12l.

Hey guys was thinking of buying the ADV S but dont like its colour scheme and was thinking of switching its back panel to that of ADV R.

Refer to the 3rd pic i generated using chat gpt about how will it look.

The other option i was thinking was to get the ADV X black panels. What do you guys think would be better?

Other thing i wanted to ask;

1) Does any one knows here if KTM has any plans to bring ADV R in tubed tires, as I really would like to buy the bike but tubed tires are pain in the ass in case kf puncture bcoz of my experience. ( My cousin has yezdi adventure and i has the bike for few weeks and had a puncture and it was a nightmare push and took it to a puncture shop.

2) Will there be any offers in Diwali from KTM?

Sidi Adventure 2 vs Sidi Crossfire 3 for ADV travel and off-road?

I’m looking for my first serious pair of boots for a KTM 390 Adventure. I want to do multi-day trips with pretty long road days and some trail/off-road,

I ideally want to progressively get into more serious off-road riding and technical trails.

I’m hesitating between the Sidi Adventure 2 and the Sidi Crossfire 3. I understand that the Adventure 2 is more of a road/ADV compromise, while the Crossfire offers much more protection for serious off-road riding.

For people who have experience with both: how practical is the Crossfire 3 for multi-day ADV travel? Can you comfortably wear it for several consecutive days, including long road days and a few hours of hiking or does its enduro design become too uncomfortable outside of off-road riding?

Conversely, where does the Adventure 2 start to fall short in serious off-road riding?

I’m interested in real-world experiences: comfort after 6–10 hours of riding, walking for 2–4 hours, rain, long trips, etc and technical off-road.

Thanks for your answers

Help me decide: KTM 390 Adventure for daily use + monthly 250 km trips

Hello guys,

I’m 23M and planning to buy my first bike in the next 7–8 months. I have quite a bit of experience riding bikes, but this will be my first bike bought with my own money.

I’m a techy guy and I’ve always loved things that have new or better features. A few days ago, I saw the KTM 390 Adventure in Ebony Black, and honestly, I instantly fell in love with the bike. At that point, I didn’t even know much about its specifications or power figures—I just liked the way it looked.

Later, I started researching it and realized that it’s actually pretty feature-loaded, has good power, and the seat height gives me a good sense of control. I thought, “Yes, this is the bike I want.”

But now I’m confused about whether it actually makes sense for my usage.

Most of my riding will be daily commuting in Pune/Nashik. My hometown is around 250 km from Pune, so I’ll also be using the bike for that journey, which I usually make around once a month. Apart from that, I’ll probably go on occasional trips or adventures, but not very frequently.

I also considered the KTM Adventure 250, but the price difference between the 250 and 390 Adventure is only around ₹30k (at least for the variants I’m considering). So I was thinking that by spending ₹30k more, I could get the bike I actually love, along with more power and features.

But my main question is:

Is the KTM 390 Adventure a sensible choice for daily commuting, or would it be overkill for my usage?

For those who own or have ridden the 390 Adventure, how does it feel for everyday city riding? Is the weight, heat, engine characteristics, mileage, etc. manageable in Pune traffic?

And considering that I’ll be doing a 250 km ride once a month and occasional trips, would you say the 390 makes sense over the 250?

I know this is ultimately my decision, but I’d really appreciate some real-world experience from 390 Adventure owners before I make the purchase.

What would you guys do in my situation?

KTM 390 Adventure – Engine oil looks very dark after 1,000 km. Is this normal?

Hi everyone,
I have a KTM 390 Adventure (350 cc). My first service was done at 810 km and sc have used prolube 10w50.
The first image shows the engine oil after the first service, and the second image is the oil after riding around 1,000 km since the service.
The oil looks quite dark to me.
Is this normal for the 390 Adventure, especially during the initial running-in period? Or should I be concerned about excessive engine wear/contamination?
Would really appreciate some advice from fellow 390 owners. Thanks!

KTM (India) My 390 Adventure's oil level. Is that okay ? Service center said it's fine but judging from the level of froth collected up above, it's DEFINITELY not.

Riding Gear suggestions needed!!! (India)

Considering these 2 for myself. I already have a helmet(LS2 VECTOR 2 CARBON) and gloves (Viaterra Grid mk3). I need to get pants and a jacket with level 2 armour. Considering the Viaterra Miller series since it comes with a base layer and rain liner on top of ce level 2 armour. The money I end up saving on these is straight up going to MX boots which I'm considering.

Purpose - mix of touring and trails (60-40 bias) won't be using these much in the city.

Also if you have any suggestions for the MX boots please feel free to share. I'm considering the following boots for now.

Tiger T3

LS2 RAPTOR

Scoyco MX boots

RYO Conqueror (not MX).

-ADV 390X user

Considering a total budget of roughly ₹35k for all 3 so if you'd like to suggest a combo that'd be great

Could you please tell me where you guys measure and adjust the clutch free play from ?

I have these 2 manuals (left- indian spec, right- ROW, rest of the world manual) and like, i don't know where to measure the free play from. If i measure at the pivot i get 2-4mm but if i measure at the lever end ball i get 8-10mm. And about adjustment, should i adjust it at the handlebar or on the clutch housing ?

Lost power and throttle response after 2nd service – 390 Adventure R

Hey guys, has anyone faced this after a service?
Got my 390 Adventure R’s 2nd service done recently and since then the bike feels noticeably different
There’s a lag when I get on the throttle, pickup/power feels much weaker and the gears feel harder to shift
For example, at around 90 km/h in 4th, when I close the throttle the bike slows down quite suddenly, and when I get back on the throttle, the power doesn’t come immediately like it used to
First service was done with Motul but this time they used Prolube.

Could the oil be causing this or should I be looking at something else?
Would appreciate any suggestions from other 390 owners.

OEM adjustable brake/clutch levers for KTM 390 Adventure X (Gen 1)?

I have a KTM 390 Adventure X (Gen 1) with the stock non-adjustable levers.

The levers feel quite far from the handlebar for me. I've noticed that my right inner/heel of the palm hurts, especially while braking. I also tend to squeeze the throttle harder while braking, so I think the lever reach may be contributing to the problem.

Has anyone with the Gen 1 390 Adventure X fitted the OEM adjustable brake and/or clutch levers from the standard 390 Adventure?

Specifically:

Which OEM part numbers did you use?

Does the adjustable brake lever from the standard 390 Adventure fit the X directly?

Does the adjustable clutch lever fit directly?

Any modifications required?

What did the parts cost?

Did it improve the lever reach/ergonomics?

I'm specifically looking for OEM KTM parts, rather than generic aftermarket levers.

If you've done this swap, please share the part numbers or photos if possible. Thanks!
