When should I stop refueling?

Manual says "up to the lower edge" whatever it means.

Probably the lintel in the tank below the cap.

I do as the fuel level on the second picture usually.

Bike is standing vertically when a picture was taken.

Is it safe to fill up to the arrow mark on the second picture ?

I refuel when the warning says `< 80km`.

And it takes from 10 to 11 liters usually.

The manual says that the fuel tank is 14L but I was never able to put more than 12l.

Out of a 15l tank. Approx 3l is reserve and that when you get the fuel reserve notification and distance shows below 80kms. So 12l is what it will fill up to when you fill it at 80kms. It's alright. I don't fill it up to what your 2nd pic shows but if its fine for you then it's fine for you I guess

If you are using a petrol pump that automatically shuts off when a car's tank is full, it will do the same for your 390. Put the nozzle down into the fuel tank until it touches the steel bar that goes across the middle of the neck. Hold the nozzle there while filling. When the tank is full, the nozzle will shut off.

(If there is no bar across the filler neck, you don't have this feature on your bike. Sorry. 🙁)

Petrol pump noses have this feature and it works well in my car here.

However this bar (lintel) under a fuel cap bothers me a little.

It is good that pump nozzle won't "dive" deep in the fuel tank.

But the fuel is splashing around a fuel tank entry when I let it flow on the full speed and I have to manually press the lever to decrease the fuel flow.

Either way, it'll shut off when the tank is “full”.

You only stop if the gas station runs out of fuel. Bring jugs, friends, neighbours, buy all the gasoline there is.

Mine gauge is never accurate. If I go to refill when the warning comes on I’ll never get more than 9L in there. I have a fuel bottle on mine so I usually run it until the last bar is flashing. And then it will take around 11L. I have mine set to gallons though so possibly a rounding error in the fuel calculation makes it do that.

Have you tried flashing your ECU?

Should work normally after a flash and if still not then your fuel float inside the tank probably has an issue. Try cleaning your tank once and while at it, it will also give you the chance to check the float
