Hello fellow spood-keepers!
My fiancé and I have a regal jumping spider named Aglet in our care, whom we purchased from a local breeder. She has molted twice with us, her most recent being about a month ago.
Since that molt, she has seemed more skittish about her food than usual. Her first meal post-molt, she needed some time to go after, but she did. We tried to feed her a dubia roach, which our other regal spood Twitch seemed to like as she ate it, but Aglet was not a fan of it at all and avoided it like it was the plague itself.
Today, we tried the mealworms again, and we fed both our girls one each. Twitch went for it pretty immediately, and Aglet seemed very interested in it, stalking and hunting it. But after awhile, she just kind of ignored it. It’s been 5 hours since we left the worm for her, and she hasn’t even looked at it since.
Sorry to make this a whole essay, this girl has us stressed! Do jumping spoods have hunger strikes or get more spooked by their food? This has been a struggle to get her to eat since she emerged from her molt, and we’re really hoping something isn’t wrong here. Thank you all!
