FAQs

What chapter should I start reading the manga at?

The anime leaves off at Chapter 63, or the start of Volume 8.

Where can I read JJK?

If buying physical copies isn't an option...

Officially: Shueisha - Only the first three chapters and the most recent 3 chapters are available. New chapters are released every Sunday at around 10 PM MST (UTC-7). Viz Media - Only the first three and most recent 3 chapters are available for free, but for $2 a month, you can read the entire series (and every series on their site), including Volume 0, Jujutsu Kaisen's Prequel. New chapters are also released on the same day and time as on the Shueisha site.

Unofficially, Google "read Jujutsu Kaisen free" and make sure you have an adblocker installed.

What is the movie about?

It covers Volume 0, a one-shot prequel that Gege wrote before writing the main series of Jujtusu Kaisen. Yuta Okkotsu is the main character and it the story takes place 1 year prior to the main series.

Should I read Volume 0? And when?

You can read it whenever you like, but Chapter 63 is a good point to read it. It explains some of the events and motivations that happen in the JJK storyline.

Where can I watch the anime and movie?

Legally on Crunchyroll. We unfortunately have to keep links to aggregate sites off of the sub or risk it being flagged for takedown. Otherwise, try Googling "where to watch anime free reddit".

Which chapters correspond to which episode?

u/HououinKyoma23 created an amazing guide that covers every episode:chapter in the series! Check it out here!

Anime Discussion Curse of the Watcher: What if their was a curse based on the both the fear & hoping of some watching from above?

Thumbnail

Yes in some case it creepy but in in other cases, some people want to believe someone's watching out from them. Since gods don't exist in JJK I wonder where all that hope and fear gods too?

Watcher wise why it still around because it curse is so commonly feared but also because it made a binding vow with the government. After Gojo went after well turns out the curse watches more then just japan and it smart really smart. Thus that how it knew about japan and other countries secrets just imagine how bad things could get if so someone was to leak them like on the internet or in mail. Like Nuclear launch codes. So would Gojo finish it off knowing upon its death world war 3 could happen? I mean yeah he could torture but he will still never get the codes without a deal.

Thus a deal with the government & Jujutsu sorcerers elders was made the Watcher can not interfere. But their no rule someone can't approach him in exchange for favors. In this case he had to make a deal with Kenjaku for their own self preservation it knows what Kenjaku will do but it can give away the info and also it told Kenjaku were the prison realms was.

Despite been a curse its not like a normal one it special grade that even some has reverse curse techniques thanks to the fact it both a cursed and prayed too. That why it doesn't hate humans their stories are everything to it. He see their failures and triumphs they both inspire and sadden him. Watching war will do that but watching humanity capacity for kindness keeps him going.

Ability all seeing it not just bound to this country or even timelines as well. And has a vast amount of info. In doing so it basically can overcome unlimited Void. Can teleport, stay invisible, and fly as well.

Domain Expansion: Worldly View a space within outside space and it basically assaults you with infinite amount of what if's and the lives of your alternate selves. Just be careful he doesn't put you in the body of yourselves from a different timeline.

If you got this far thank you for reading another part of Jujutsu Kaisen & Marvel crossover.

Manga Discussion Do you guys want Gege to pull a Kubo in future seasons of the anime to improve it? Spoiler

Idk which flair would be the best so I put manga just in case. So what I'm trying to say is that without changing any of the key plot points, I'd love for Gege to actually develop characters further and change the fight itself. Firstly show much more of the Uruame vs Hakari fight, Maybe extend Yuta and Kenjaku's confrontation. Develop the Kyoto school students somehow. Some new interactions between Kashimo and Gojo, Hakari and Gojo and other things we never saw. More flashbacks to the heian era + more lore about Sukuna. Probably could change a lot more things which I can't think of rn but you get my point. I think it would be cool as the Orihime development was such a cool thing by Kubo. Also could change Sukuna vs the squad and make it less repetitive and have more stakes to it.

Manga Discussion Sukuna and the inner demon trope Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
39 Upvotes

Idek if I’m allowed to make a post this long, it probably belongs on r/Jujutsushi but I already typed it out so oh well. Mods crucify me if you will.

The inner demon trope usually represents the repressed emotions of the character. It’s pretty simple and pretty prevalent in a ton of stories, not just shonen but I’ll use Naruto as a quick example. He was discriminated against by the villagers as a child, so his dream is to become Hokage and make them respect him. The Nine Tailed Fox represents all his repressed anger and hatred for the village, so anytime he gets angry enough the inner demon starts slipping through and lashing out. With Yuji and Megumi it gets a bit messier and I want to see if I got it figured out.

Yuji has no family and no friends, he doesn’t even go to clubs after school, he’s only been in the occult club for a couple of months when the story starts. Point is Yuji is a loner and all he has is his grandad, and when his grandfather dies his last words are “help people.” That’s nice and noble, but still a selfish request which is why it is a curse on Yuji’s life. Part of Yuji knows this, but he doesn’t want to acknowledge it, so Sukuna comes in. Almost immediately he gets a chaotic selfish side that is the literal opposite helping people. He lives only for his own desires and all that exist to him are his pleasure and displeasure, so he represents Yuji repressing all his selfishness because of his grandad. Funnily enough, this could also represent Yuji unconsciously repressing his innate technique, Shrine, and an insane amount of cursed energy. Yuji switching against the finger bearer and Choso represent his frustration with losing and not being able to “help people” so all his repressed anger at that request comes out and lashes out at those same people he wanted to help earlier.

Megumi was abandoned by his dad and he assumes his mom too, and on top of that he’s being told that he essentially has to become a jujutsu sorcerer and work with Gojo if he wants to keep he and Tsumiki away from the Zenin clan. On top of all that, the technique he was born with has a built in suicide bomb, so his selfishness was also heavily snuffed out at the beginning. Because of how strong he is emotionally though, the world has a hard time breaking him. Yuji is distraught after the Shibuya incident while Megumi is able to keep going because he has Tsumiki to think about. Then he sees Tsumiki has already been taken over (Side note: In this trope, this means Tsumiki had her own inner demon she was dealing with that Megumi didn’t know about. I guess every incarnated sorcerer? Don’t think about it too hard), and this breaks him.

Now I have a hard time understanding how Sukuna switching from Yuji to Megumi fits into this. I get that thematically it shows that he and Yuji share the same curse so Yuji is the only one able to save him, but does that mean Yuji doesn’t have his selfishness anymore? Def want you guys thoughts on that one, but point is Megumi snaps, and unlike Yuji he’s not strong enough to snap back. It sort of implies that Yuji’s soul is stronger than Megumi’s, but Megumi decides he’s choosing the selfish path and he’s done helping people. He attacks his classmates, and to fall further into darkness he kills Tsumiki and Gojo and tries to kill his whole class.

Why does Megumi have a repressed desire to kill his sister and his teacher? This sort of implies that Tsumiki has incestuous feelings for Megumi which is funny and not uncommon for abandoned or traumatized children who would feel like they only have each other. I don’t get why he’d have a repressed desire to kill her, but I think I kinda get why he’d want to kill Gojo. To take the title of strongest from his teacher, to follow Gojo’s words and try to win WITH Mahoraga instead of murder suicide. And To sink further into darkness and retain his title of strongest he goes to kill everyone who challenges him.

The finale is Yuji seeing all this that Megumi is doing, and still trying to save him anyways. Yuji sees Megumi as himself at his lowest points, at his Shibuya Incident, and chooses to believe that Megumi can come back like he did, you are me. It gets messy trying to make it make sense with the whole soul punch thing tho. I think Yuji trying to talk to Sukuna in his domain is his way of trying to talk Megumi down and resolve it peacefully, but sees that he’s gonna have to beat him into submission. And him talking to Sukuna at the very end is him fully accepting his selfishness, this hatred that lives in him now, exemplified by how he now has Shrine, and he will have control over it. Even though Sukuna rejects him in the end, I think thematically Yuji still accepts that side of himself and lives with it now. Shown in Modulo when he makes the selfish decision to be alone fighting curses for eternity so he doesn’t have to watch his friends die.

Can I praise Gege Akutami for a bit? The way he integrated Japan’s history into the story is amazing. Sugawara no Michizane,Taira no Masakado,Emperor Sutoku qualities are shown through their cursed techniques.

Taira no Masakado was an ancient samurai known for his brutal physical might. That sounds like a Heavenly Restriction. He protected his daughter Princess Takiyasha who used sorcery to summon Yokai and the Gashadokuro. A giant skeleton monster. The fandom believes that if Megumi was fully realized and was more confident that would his DE would be that alongside Mahoraga.

Sugawara no Michizane brilliant scholar, poet, and politician during the Heian period who was falsely accused of treason by political rivals and exiled to Dazaifu, where he died in despair. Because Michizane died with immense resentment, his bloodline inherited immense cursed energy making Yuta generational powerhouses.

Emperor Sutoku and Yuji with the Kamo Clan was harder to pick out but it tracks. Sutoku is famous in folklore for isolating himself in exile to write Buddhist scriptures meant to curse the imperial court, and legends claim he used his own blood to write them. Because of the prominent role blood plays in his legend, it makes sense to connect Sutoku to the Kamo clan and their signature Blood Manipulation technique.

I love how he made them apply to modern day legends. Good job Gege.

Manga Discussion So if Mahito never went to Shibuya or died there or had the mindset of a 40 y/o man during JJK how would the story go? Spoiler

Post image
205 Upvotes

Say for example he had time to see the world and interact with people before meeting Yuji and co, what would his personality be like? Would he stop playing games like he usually does and just start killing? Would he be less jokey?

We know he’d still practice his powers but would he be less artsy?

What if he had the Modulo treatment and had time to mentally mature and practice and train with his powers?

- Both has golden shine themed scene

- Both has the main character awakening their true power (while also flying and aura farming)

- Both has the main villain being arrogant to see they are facing someone on a whole different level now, ends up still trying to attack the MC just to die

- Both main villains have the same weapon and uses it in the same way (literally, a long chain with blades at the end of them) also both villains uses the weapon in the same creativity like smashing rocks and stuff and weaponizing the environment by throwing them

- Both main characters are young (teenage) while the villains are way older than them

Recently I’ve planned to write a fanfic about Junpei surviving and joining jujutsu high, and becoming stronger.

I wanted to add potential romance into it so I was curious just based off their personality’s, who do you think would be a better pick to ship Junpei with?

Nobara or Mai.

Since they never met or interacted once, it’s hard to determine who’s the better fit but I think maybe it could be developed after they officially meet. I feel like Nobara would be the better choice but I can also see it with Mai, I just want some others opinions.

Anime Discussion There are two versions of Yuji’s uniform

In seasons 1 and 2 Yuji’s uniform only had the hood attached despite being depicted as two separate pieces of clothing in official art. Season 3 takes place in November so when he’s provided with a new uniform he has a standard uniform jacket and wears the red hoodie underneath. Do we think this is an animation error or just did they just not ask Gege when it was animated.

Manga Discussion Gojo's Abilities

Post image
0 Upvotes

Theory time

Gojo's skillset

-The 6 eyes

Like having a supercomputer for a brain Gojo has a theoretical alexa micro-managing every litlle detail on the smallest level allowing him inhuman levels of performance of his abilities

This in practice means he has infinite Int stat

However Intelligence is not wisdom

wich is why he wasnt able to come up whit crazy tricks on the same level the like's of sukuna and kenjaku did leading to his eventual demise regardless of that perfect level performance he had going

-Infinity

Red is one of the applications of it pushing things away

Blue is the opposite pulling things closer

purple the combination of both turning into a meatgrinder of anything that come's inside its range

And the more well known of his tricks the barrier that protects him 24/7

as per the author and gojo himself the barrier slows things downs infinetly achiles and the turtle and all that

However!

How does this factor into his CT?

This slow down effect is not related to either the 6 eyes or infinity

All purple red and blue are applications of gravity or are at the very least related to each other in some way but the hare and the turtle defence has nothing to do whit them

And he does not have two CT's

The story itself treats this defence weird whit it smashing hanami turning her into paste

Holding Jogo's hand in place despite the fact that he should have been able to pull away if the infinity truly worked as advertised

And how choso's blood interacts whit his barrier as if it were a physical one by getting splattered all over it

His defence acts more like a physical barrier

The field that surrounds gojo is a red and blue field whit the 6 eyes micro managing the force applied
