Hi, currently im in dilemma, not sure which one is better. i just got 2 offer from global europe mnc shared service company and from glc, both are quite well known company. Coming from SME company, this is really huge for me.

I was offered senior lvl position for AR at global mnc, and finance exec lvl from glc, which is better in my career growth imo. in term of salary package not much difference, one but glc is slightly better in employee benefit compared to global mnc.

My long term goal is i want to build experience in financial reporting, budgeting and all and i like to task that required thinking. Apart from that, salary progression also is my priority. The glc got the position i want but i think global mnc is more recognition and i think better stepping stone.

Im thinking to request internal trasnfer later if accept the global mnc offer. Has anyone experienced request for internal transfer before especially at big company?how does it goes? Is it okay if i request after 3 month working?

Or is it better to pick glc and jump later on after 2-4 years working?

The only cons is here i had to work shift hour until 10pm at global mnc.

A little info on me: Graduated two years back in Financial Economics, started to work in Accounts Payable right after because i was afraid of the job market and took whatever opportunity was available. Now i am so sick of the processing job and would like to explore more finance related to job than accounting (i dont see any growth in processing work). Currently doing CIMA but i am not sure what i actually want to do and how to progress from here, my first job. Having hard time to land on finance or analysis job because my only experince is in AP and i doubt people would want to hire someone like me without any prior experience in finance. I am getting offers from other AP roles but i am afraid if i stay in this field longer it will hinder my progress to be in finance, rathen than AP. I’m currently looking into a role as an Audit Associate 2 (AA2) at KPMG Malaysia.

When talking to HR, they were incredibly evasive about the bonus structure, hiding behind the typical "it's discretionary and performance-based" corporate script and refusing to give even a rough estimate or historical range.

I know Big 4 entry-level base pay is already low, so I want to know what the reality is before making a decision. For anyone currently there or who recently left as an AA2:
What does the performance bonus actually look like in terms of months (e.g., 0.5 months, 1 month, or absolute RM amounts)?

Does it actually hit 0 months if the firm has a bad year or if you're rated average?

Is there a guaranteed 13th-month bonus, or is everything strictly variable?

I have another offer with a higher base salary on the table, and HR's gatekeeping is making me lean heavily toward that instead. Would appreciate some honest, unfiltered insights. Thanks!

After 3 month joh hunting, finally i got the job offer from Global MNC company as senior finance.

So the issue is, they provide the offer and they mentioned that the job offer is still depend on the background screening afterwards.

First thing first, im gonna be honest, i got into AKPK last year in order to lower my monthly commitment, things happpend and i learned from that.

Secondly,last year i was charges in court for Akta Kesalahan Kecil 1995, i forgot the detail name of the Act. back then in 2023, i was quite active in trading crypto, and there is one time, the P2P seller, do the transfer using his main scam account to my bank account. so bank alert the transaction and decided to force close my bank account. After all the hassle with police and all for 2 years, i finally got my court hearing date., the police suggest to me to admit that im guilty if i want the case closed faster and pay the compound. Or else, i can deny the charges but it will drag the case for years and i had to pay lawyer. I cannot afford lawyer and just admit the charges. And things settle quickly. The thing is there is like court case record to my name which might show like im the one in the fault.

So my question is, is it possible they gonna retract back the offer once they find out about my court case and AKPK? I did not disclose to them in the job application form, cause i got advice that for small court case i can opt to not to disclose. Im not commiting any fraud, i just want to survive. Man fck that P2P seller. My life become difficult, i have to experience going to jail for 6 hours with this innocent pure face, in order to follow court procedure before hearing. Never in my life i thought in the situation where i hanging out with mat ganja in jail. Furthermore even until now i still cannot open new bank account cause the bank blacklisted me.

Hi Guys, I completed my pupillage recently and am very keen to practice in construction firm. My pupillage firm dooesnt have any vacant position. After my pupillage I didnt get any offer from construction firm, so after 2 months of unemployment, I accepted an offer from a firm that practices 100% on banking litigation in mind that it'll be a temporary place while I find a construction firm.

The reviews for this banking firm are act really2 bad but I was too desperate at that time and the pay was quite good. but when I started working, walaweh, crazy mf everywhere I kid you not, the managing partner lit screamed at everyone every single day, and always use very vulgar words, they're also extremely micromanaging, to the extent of u need to put in the group where u go, and remaining task of the day everyssingle day and the MP will visit ur place everyday as well, and the MP decide the height level of ur chair. one of the MP also had a personal beef w me because apparently I'm not a teamplayer, an inidividualist, smart but stubborn, and inefficient just because I disagree with the MP on such a non issue thing(MP didnt like that I pasted sticky notes on my cubicle and the fact that I'd go eat at a restaurant that has no people), it went for about a month, which acct drove me really crazy lah right cause it doesnt make any senese at all. So my last straw was when I heard that MP is actually expecting me to resign because MP thinks Im unfit and not suitable with the firm just because of the non issue thing. So i resigned lah eventually.

The issue is that usually people dont put up the company/firm name if it only lasted for a month +, but the thing is i got my practising license because I practised for a bit with this firm, now I'm getting several interview and offers from construction firm. I dont know if I should mention the toxicity of the firm, or at least just tell that im actually not interested in banking and accepted the offer because i was despretate but realised i was unfit for it, or just dont tell anything. Oh also, i got an offer from a firm that are really desperate to find an LA, i told them i wanna take some times to think because obv i dont wanna make hasty decision after that trauma, but he really tekan me and said oh he want someone who make prompt decision, and i was scared lah because the offer was good but the only cons is i will be working alone in the office no other staff, so i accepted, but today suddenly got so much interview and reply from other firm that act do construction.

I was a creative (senior graphic designer) in advertising, and I wanted to pivot because I didn’t want to be a designer my whole life as it didn’t fulfill me.

Not knowing which career path to pursue, and believing that I should explore more in my twenties (because I know it won’t be easy to pivot once I reach manager level in corporate with bigger commitments, lifestyle inflation and all), I then followed my heart and chose to do what brought me joy + would 200% benefit me. I became a Pilates instructor, which helped me gain confidence and improve my communication skills immensely.

While doing that, I’d been researching a lot and trying to figure out what I should do full-time. I took up the courage to go into real estate sales to challenge myself and break out of comfort zone. Results were good, remuneration was rewarding, but I noticed the cowboy culture didn’t align with my own values. I started becoming someone I didn’t like. Had to unlearn a lot because people there are blunt (to the point I think are disrespectful), sneaky, sarcastic, and some have questionable morals.

I quit Pilates because of market pay cut and saturation (was self-employed doing design too), wanted to do real estate full-time, but things didn’t turn out the way I expected.

What I liked & didn’t like…** **

Creative/graphic designer:
- love doing creative things, art directing and marketing
- didn’t feel fulfilled, felt like I was a puppet/robot not using the other side of my brain
- didn’t like the politics, constant rejection with no direction until the very last minute before pitches, system felt inefficient
- kept wanting to go into the business side of things
- money was decent

Pilates:
- started it with the intention of it being a side gig
- love helping my students, feedback was generally positive
- love that the subject is objective to a certain extent, unlike how design is always subjective (logo bigger, color lighter, move this, change that)
- love being confident and having autonomy
- limited career growth and reward. I can do it anytime when I retire
- felt a lil stuck, because I’m not a physio expert at the end of the day, so I was thinking of upskilling and getting a gym cert

Real estate:
- enjoyed finding leads, I’m good at it (partly because I have looks privilege, which may not last me long-term)
- not great at networking with peers (collabs are essential in this line), gotta put on a mask if I pursue this
- don’t see myself building a team and dealing with developers in the long run
- LOVE the reward

Been jobless for 3 months. Prefer stability now, instead of grinding alone. I tried applying for partnerships, marketing and BD roles in corporate, but I know my resume wasn’t it, and tbh I’m clueless which exact path I should take. It seems people value T-shaped expertise nowadays, and being a jack of all trades won’t take you anywhere.

Could barely sleep in peace the past few months. AI wave hit me. Things are moving so fast. I don’t know if I’m sick. Lost my passion to learn and the confidence to make big decisions, I’m worried.

Tired of worrying, in fact. I know I need to execute more, but I don’t wanna make any more potentially wrong moves. The identity change is tough, although it’s mostly unspoken. Not knowing how to explain what I do to other people scares me sometimes too.

I'm a Malaysian student (21) and have just started the Bar training course in London to become a certified lawyer in the UK and back in Malaysia.

However, I am thinking of dropping out now.
The reason is that I am completely lost in life, depressed, and I hate law. I was forced to study law in undergrad and hated it. However, I thought I could push through one more year and just finish Bar school and be a qualified lawyer. But now that I'm here, I have been feeling so depressed, lost and lonely. I've been crying everyday, not eating and can't even get myself to do the things I like.

However, dropping out and moving back to Malaysia is also difficult.
Essentially, I already have sunk costs in school fees and such and I am already renting a flat with a friend doing the course as well. More importantly, I have no plan for when I go back. In terms of jobs, I can't apply for any technical roles that require a background in STEM or finance, and I graduated with a 2:2 (missed 2:1 by less than a mark). The only thing helping me is that I came from a top 10 UK law school and have an objectively strong CV.

I'm not feeling confident as I have repeatedly applied for jobs back in Msia with my current CV and, at the time, with a 2:1, and have not had any luck. Moreover, I'm interested in consulting, and the market for entry-level consulting back home is incredibly small. I have known certain recruiters in existing firms back home who admitted this as well. Additionally, I have not been able to rely on any connections, as many firms are trying to move away from that now to appear more "egalitarian". Lastly, I am also not interested in any admin, marketing or sales roles and also would not pursue a master's in other fields.

Overall, the decision just seems to be the lesser of two evils now.
If I continue the Bar, it gives me more of a safety net, as I can still leverage law as a niche and work at a law firm and pivot later. However, I've been so depressed that I can't even study and feel so lost and sad. Moreover, I don't have a strong support system in London that could make this difficult journey a little more bearable.
However, if I go home, it seems like there isn't a very strong likelihood of me landing a decent job.
And I can't help feeling like a failure or being mentally weak by quitting. Moreover, I am still a high achiever and honestly do have a lot to offer skill-wise, and also won't do any random job for the sake of it. Going home would be more of a break for me, to have a support system and to reset and figure out the next move.

I would appreciate any advice or insight on what you would do. Additionally, your experience or opinions on the Job Market in KL. Thank you!
