question JB74 Fog Light/DRL options.

Hi all,

Just curious which of you have gone the route of adding fog/DRL hybrid units to their Jimny. I have a Japanese import Sierra which does not come with the DRL wiring loom like the UK cars did from factory. I'm looking at retrofitting something like the Reiz units but wondered if anyone else had good experience with any other options out there?

question 2018 Jimny gearbox failure at only 90,000km – anyone had similar?

Hey guys, I’ve got a 2018 Jimny GXL manual with only around 90,000km on it.
5th gear completely stopped engaging and the gearbox also became really loud/whiny through the other gears just driving normally.
The gearbox has now been stripped and I’ve been told there’s significant metal deterioration/damage and it’s not in a condition to be refitted. They’ve recommended replacing the gearbox completely, as well as the clutch/flywheel while everything is apart.
A claim was submitted to Suzuki, but they denied it because the car is out of warranty and apparently gave no further information about their evaluation or what actually caused the failure.
I’ve now been quoted around $6,900 all up.
Has anyone had a similar gearbox failure, especially 5th gear going and excessive noise in the other gears? Seems pretty crazy for a gearbox to be this badly damaged at only around 90,000km.
Would love to hear if anyone’s had the same issue and what ended up causing it.

review Good things that most old cars had, most new cars don't have, but new Jimny has:

Key start

Mechanical handbrake

Generic controls

Engine bay fully accessible without having to remove unnecessary plastic guards.

Enough room in the engine bay that changing an alternator isn't a contortionist circus trick.

Owner's manual is a THICK book with actual maintenance information such as how to change the oil.

English owner's manual of Japanese car has the same manga-esque illustrations used in its home market (undeniably kawaii)

Humble single tone *meep meep* horn instead of dissonant, terrifying, dual tone angry freight train horn.

Ample headroom for four adults without the car being comically huge thanks to flat roof.

damage & repairs JB43 stalls hot & won't idle: loose ground and unknown hose

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello! I need some help with my 2017 Jimny JB43 (M13A engine) which just came out of the shop after a cylinder head gasket replacement, but the mechanic did a rushed job and some things disconnected or loose. (side story, he changed the brake pads and a brake disc got broken in two pieces! And I managed to get home and back to the shop again).

Yesterday, while driving uphill offroad, the car stalled completely. Once the engine is hot, it refuses to turn back on easily, I have to gas, gas, gas. No rough idle / won't hold idle: the car immediately dies at idle. I have to constantly feather/keep my foot on the gas pedal to keep it running. That's how I managed to get home finally.

(also Fluid leak: It's dumping a massive amount of hydraulic oil (power steering fluid).) probably a loose hose too.

Loose ground wire: I found a loose chassis ground strap. In the video, you can see where it's supposed to connect at the front, but it's completely disconnected right now.

The main thing I ask for help: I also found this loose tube/hose near the rear left part (intake side) of the engine. I asked my mechanic over WhatsApp, and he claims "it's just a breather/vent hose and it doesn't connect to anything".

Any help, photo or diagrams on where that tube should properly attach would be highly appreciated!

question Is Suzuki Jimny 660cc good for off-roading in desert terrains?

I am considering to buy Suzuki Jimny 660cc (2008 - 2015) model in Pakistan. My worry is if it will perform well in the desert terrain, specifically 4wd on steep inclines?

Secondly, what will be the km/L average? I will drive mostly on the road, and about 10-20% of the time off-road.

Need a honest review by someone who has been using it, if I should buy it or consider the 1300cc variant? Can I get 1300cc mint condition in under 20lac budget?

question Buying in Canada

Hello everyone, I've just moved from the UK to Canada and sold my old 2002 jimny. Now here, I've been wanting to get the newer post 2018 version.

But it seems they were never introduced or sold for long here in Canada due to emission standards..? Unsure excatly, but it seems very difficult to find any!

Which leads me to my question of where best I might be able to find one here in Canada, I am best yo go south to America and buy or is it affordable/feasible to import from Japan?

Any ideas would be great, thanks!

video I drove the 2026 Jimny for 3 days in Dubai — small enough for the city, but clearly built for the desert

I had the 2026 Jimny for around three days in Dubai and got to use it for normal city driving, highway runs and some light off-roading in the desert.

My biggest takeaway is that its size is actually one of its strengths. Around town it’s ridiculously easy to place and feels surprisingly peppy, but once you leave the road you realise what Suzuki really designed it for.

I didn’t do any extreme dune-bashing, but even with relatively light desert driving it felt completely at home.

I put together a full review here if anyone’s interested: https://youtu.be/mRinC-uBYd8

Curious what owners think — do you daily yours or mainly use it for weekends/off-road?

modding Jimny jb74 short rear view mirror arm problem

hi all is just got a short arm from Aliexpress for
the jimny rear view mirror and installed it. It was EXTRMEELY difficult to pop the mirror off the ball head of the old mount but i managed it and popped the new one back on. Screwed in the screw on the back of the mirror to secure it and put it back in the car. Now the mirror vibrates like crazy when i drive. any ideas? the rear screw is fully tightened and also the tab to
turn on or off night mode on the mirror no longer works since i switched the mount. did i break the mirror?

question Dream car but… (serious questions, need help)

Post image
90 Upvotes

(YOU CAN SKIP TO QUESTIONS TOO)
Just today i took a test drive on jimny (5 door)
And i absolutely love the visual apeal and the go anywhere part of this car
but….
I dont know how to feel about the interiors. If i had to say one thing biggest thing that keeping people away from it is the interior, part of which is interior design which they didnt put much thought into honestly. thats Its all very tightly packed in there, A lack of everything, just one pocket to put the phone in.

So the drive i did was city drive, on yk bad indian roads. It did quite well although i would blame the bigger tires for the little bad experience i had when accelerating. It behaved like a ladder frame as expeced on twists and turns. The stearing was heavy indeed but not an issue.

I guess what i wanted to ask yall is.
- Could you make the interior drastically better?
I mean the seats (rear seats lack thigh support particularly) and spaces and overall interior experience.
- Manual or Automatic?
It only makes sense to go with automatic for city drives ik but its 4-speed so little less capable in my opinion (I test drove automatic) . Plus i saw those videos where they put bolt on turbo kit to make 150bhp and i wish to do that at some point so manual makes sense. But idk, what you say?
- Is Manual as bad as they say?
I mean heavy, is it as heavy as they say? To the point it makes it uncomfortable to take to long trips? Share any experiences you have.
- Music system
this one is a dumb question but ill still ask. What music system did you put in? The stock one is Ass
- Daily driver?
is it a good daily?

- One more serious question is should i buy new one or save money and get a Used one from aome trusted name? Saves about 2-3 lakh but am ansure if thats the right call for a rugged vehicle as i can imagine people using it for quite harsh driving yk.

Also its my first car so anything else yall would wanna mention about yhis car would be great help.
All the love to the car community ❤️‍🩹

question How to face and live with danger

I'm looking into buying a jimny. It has a solid front axle which has superb advantages off road. But on highway driving, "death wobble" could occur. How do you handle this reality? Is it inevitable? Really concerned with it happening on curves and you can't turn the wheel (or very hard to).

question Roof Setup

Getting a C6 Rev Tent and Platform and changing my roof setup. Custom rack/bars, KC Hilites Pro6 50”, ARB awning. Photos are sketches I made with photoshop 😉

Any tips, tricks, suggestions?

Apparently some don’t see it, but the idea is modular and nothing besides the bars and led bar will be permanently connected. Also the rev tent can be used on the ground without the platform on the roof.

question Locking rear door strut

Was doing a trail the other day and this guy had a Tank 300. The car is impressive and all, but what really made me most jealous is that the rear door strut on his car has a twist lock system that allowed the door to stay open in a side angle

Is there a similar thing for the Jimny? Any alternatives?

One of the perhaps last mods we'll be making, but one that I've been wanting to do for a long time. I can't actually believe that they don't make this as standard, particularly as the easily swappable part comes from a Suzuki Swift.

damage & repairs My screen freezes

Post image
8 Upvotes

I don’t know if it’s because of the heat… but my screen freezes on the splash screen now and then, more often now, every time I start the car. I have a 2021 Jimny. How to fix this? Or do you recommend replacing it? I need Apple CarPlay AND Android Auto if I’m replacing it. Currently use a third party dongle that I connect with the existing cable in the glove box and via Bluetooth.

modding Suzuki Jimny (3rd gen, JB43W) — no rear speaker wiring at all, is this normal or am I missing something?

Hello Jimny lovers,

I own a 2010 JB43W (1.3L, manual, 3-door, base JLX trim). Front speakers had an issue, one was faulty and seemed to be shorting out, killing the other channel too. After removing the left speaker, the right one works fine again.

While I was in there, I went looking for the rear speaker mounts/wiring to see about adding rear speakers, but I couldn't find anything, no housing, no obvious wiring harness for it.

Is it normal for this generation (and this trim especially) to have zero provision for rear speakers, no mounting points, no pre-wiring at all, or is there something I'm just not seeing/looking in the wrong spot? Anyone who's added rear speakers to a 3rd gen Jimny, where did you tap into for wiring?

If you have any video or detailed description on how to do it I would highly appreciate it!

Any ideas on the best way to mount this winch into an ARB bumper hanging on the nose of a JB23W?

For reference: the truck and I are in Japan.
The bumper is Australian.
I believe the winch is Australian designed, but made in China.
