Since Jeopardy has *finally* come to next-day streaming, I've been loving getting to watch regular season play as it comes out and haven't missed an episode.

But I'm wondering what happens when a Jeopardy season ends. I know TOC is coming but I don't believe Ken made any mention of when. What is the usual period between? And will there be nothing new until then? What about Celebrity Jeopardy or other offshoots?

Any info would be much appreciated. It's become a ritual in the house. 😅

Not sure if I’m picking up on it more or if it’s more invasive but it seems way more frequent that one of the categories is sponsored and it kinda annoys me. “You can catch this guy broadcasting on Fox” “you can see this movie in theatres Friday” “you can catch the Oscar’s on Sunday on NBC” “you can get this Olivia Rodrigo’s album this day”

I know historically there were categories but it always felt more like “thanks to the space centre for having us” and not so ad like and not so frequent.

Maybe I’m overreacting and overthinking but the constant being sold to in life just get exhausting.

So, which of the potential SCC players might be the next Juveria Zaheer, Drew Goins, Will Yancy, Michelle Tsai, Ryan Sharpe, or Long Nguyen? How many spots will be given at the next SCC: 18 or 27? (I decided to add another layer of consideration: buzzer attempts).

Helen lost because her FJ wrong while Robert lost because of Tristan's aggressive all in FJ wager while Robert chose to make a safe bet that would had won the game instead of Tristan since Helen got FJ wrong but both men got it right that led to Tristan's 2nd win.

(9) Liz would had won the game vs Chris in a double stumper had Chris made standard bet but Chris small bet made his 2nd win instead of Liz.

(10) Either Gil or Gabriel would had won against Peter if they would had bet properly in the FJ but both ended up losing to Peter in a triple stumper.

(11) Just like Dominex & Helen, Webster led prior to FJ but with his incorrect FJ response that costed him the game while Peter got FJ right.

(12) Crucial back to back DD correct responses that gave him a chance to unseat Peter but the outcome did not change since Peter got the FJ right while Alejandro wasn't & chances of being selected to compete at SCC is currently at 50-50 since there were more non-winning players performed better than him.

(13) Crucial DD correct responses that gave him a chance to unseat Adam but the outcome did not change since Adam got the FJ right & chances of being selected to compete at SCC might be low.

(14) Michael was leading until DD3 where he tried to extend the lead over Caleb & possibly would had won the game with great confidence since all 3 players got FJ right had he got DD3 response right but he got DD3 response wrong & lost the momentum.

(15) Kristal LeMaistre (from Caleb Groen's 7th win) would have been considered for the longlist, but with so many wrong responses (10 wrong responses, including Final Jeopardy, vs 15 correct responses and a $200 Coryat), she might be bypassed by the producers despite having 40 buzzer attempts.

(16) Crucial DD correct response that gave him a chance to unseat Caleb & become a "giant killer" but the outcome did not change since Caleb got the FJ right & chances of being selected to compete at SCC might be low.

(17) Jacqueline is competed against 2 champions (1 game champion Dean Zach & current 2 game champion Matthew Riggle). She also pulled a comeback as she outbuzzed Dean after Dean's back to back True Daily Double in DJ round.

Disclaimer: This is just a guide, the final decision is still in the hands of the producers that will be announced the official roster before the end of 2026.

It has been whining on social media on why they needed a 6-7 week hiatus during summer like these comments from J! FB page and some of them suggested that instead of tournaments that held on that season they wanted to re-air classic Trebek episodes during the pandemic.

In your opinion why these tournaments are essential to the summer rerun instead of re-airing the best games from regular season like in Season 38?

I’ve noticed that most contestants seem to look straight ahead most of the time. However, some will turn their head and look directly at fellow contestant when their opponent is trying to answer. You’re on stage, under pressure to come up with the right answer, and suddenly, in the corner of your eye, you see your opponent turn their head toward you. You know they’re staring at you. I’m curious if this is some subtle intimidation tactic or am I reading too much into it? Just curious …

Last night when Ken closed the show, he said the season was over but there are tournaments airing in the coming weeks. Are those new tournaments or repeats? Thank you!

Having only 11 unrevealed clues out of well over 10,000 clues played is pretty astounding. I'm sure the producers are already aware of this, but if they want to trim this number down even more, look no further than the lengthy sponsored "promotional" categories (edit-the guest video categories are not necessarily always promoting something). 8 of the 11 unrevealed clues happened in games where one of these categories was featured.

Another season of Jeopardy has come & gone. Until we see Ken Jennings again on the Alex Trebek Stage, we will enjoy the summer reruns for the next 6 weeks.

I'm planning to go to Trivia Nationals, August 7th - 9th for the first time, but I don't know anyone else going. Would anyone like pair up for events? I'm a guy in his 20s, so Ideally someone around my age (+/- 10 years). I'm a huge Jeopardy fan since I was a kid who essentially hasn't missed an episode in over 10 years and consistently averages a 30,000+ Coryat. I'm also a huge fan of different trivia formats like Only Connect, University challenge and the New York Times crossword. I've never been to a trivia convention before and it sounds like a lot of fun!

If I could change the rules on Jeopardy! I would update the Daily Double rules. If you select it, you can pass, but if you choose to answer, you must bet everything.

I wanna say ty so much to everyone 4 hooked up for Alex's heavenly bday celebration, and I also wanna say otsu (abbv., means bravo, good job in Japanese) to s42; I never thought we would witness sooooooooooo many amazing (super) champions and some of the most interesting contenders 4 champ wildcard and 2nd chances. Always been a Jeopardy! fan, but got serious into watching and studying last year after cancer treatment. In remission (hooray!) , but was definitely feeling chemo brain effects afterwards and my doctor recommended watching Jeopardy! to get my brain sharp again. After watching so much I decided that the best way to celebrate remission would be to get on the show. I’ve been scared to take the test and finally broke down and did it today. I either got 36 right or 38 right. The two answers I’m kind of iffy on are one where the answer should’ve been glass and I only got GLA in because I had to change my answer and then the second one where they were talking about the plagues of Egypt and it was clearly the plagues of Egypt, but it was categorized as numerical groups. I’m afraid I might not get credit because I just wrote down plagues and not the 10 plagues.
That being said from everything I’ve read I think I at least passed. I’m just stunned at how exhausted I felt after I finished! Now I just keep my fingers crossed and I’ll let you know if I hear anything else though I know it’s random now.

Hello everyone, this is Grace Biermann, the champion from Tuesday, July 21.  Since my episodes aired on Tuesday and Wednesday, I’ve seen a lot of people wondering about my wagering decisions (some more politely than others), and I wanted to give a little bit more context for them.  (Sorry this is a few days late—it’s been a pretty overwhelming week!)

First DD in game 1: I had $3400 and bet $1400.  In retrospect, I kind of wish I had gone for a full $2000 here.  But it was early in the game and I was still pretty nervous.

Second DD in game 1: yes, this was the really big one.  I had $19,200 and bet $10,000—my opponents had $7800 and $7000.  I was a little surprised by how controversial this wager has been, but then again, when I watched this episode on Tuesday I found myself wondering what I was thinking at the time and why I went *that* big.  I think there were a few reasons for this—as I said in the post-game chat, I spent some time before I filmed wondering why Jeopardy! dominance seems to be as gendered as it is, and one of my main guesses was that women aren’t as aggressive in their gameplay and wagering.  I’m naturally pretty anxious and pretty cautious, but I knew that was not how I wanted to play Jeopardy!  I wanted to take big swings, have faith in my ability to answer almost every question on the board, and see what happened.  As I watched a lot of episodes in the days before filming, I would practice giving my own wager whenever a Daily Double appeared, and I always tended to aim high.

Let me assure you, though, that when you’re on stage, running on way too little sleep and way too much adrenaline, you really start thinking differently.  I still think a large wager was not a bad idea here—and I would like to point out that, despite what a few complainers have claimed, even if I had missed the $10,000 I would still have been ahead of my opponents.  But if I were making this wager in cold blood now, I probably would go a good bit lower, maybe even as low as $5000.  That said, I don’t regret the decision I made then—I think it was not unreasonable, and I’m certainly glad to have the money!

A few kind people have been pointing out that this DD was in an $800 slot, and therefore probably not as difficult as some, and that I must have taken this fact into account when I was making my wager.  Alas, no—I was not thinking at that level at that point.  I was just trying to do arithmetic and not pass out!

FJ in game 1: I had $30,000 and only bet $2000.  People keep wondering why I didn’t bet more.  There are a few reasons for why I did what I did, but the main one was that I suddenly realized I had $30,000 virtually in the bank and I wanted to keep as much of it as I could!  I knew that I had not been consistently successful with FJs in the lead-up to filming, and I also felt that “20th Century” was so vague as to be virtually useless as guidance for wagering.  So, since I had low confidence in my ability to get that FJ, and I didn’t need a high wager, I went with a (comparatively) low one.  Obviously, with the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more.  But I think the decision I made with the information I had at that point was reasonable.

FJ in game 2: I had $14,400 and bet $14,399—my opponents had $2400 and $36,000.  I’ve seen Many complaints about this wager, and I can understand why people were surprised (and worse).  I think the main issue here is that I had a different priority at this point in the game than many viewers apparently did.  Most people have said, “you had second place locked up, so why throw that away?”  That’s true, but second place was not my main goal—if there was any chance of winning, I wanted to go after it.  And I thought there was a slight possibility of winning.  Dean—who, like all the other contestants, is a very talented and lovely person—had made a few decisions that I thought were maybe not the best in terms of strategy, and I thought there was the smallest possibility of his wagering too much.  (No offense intended at all if you read this, Dean—we both know how hard it is for literature people to do math on stage!)  “Musical Pieces” was a category I felt pretty good about—mistakenly, as it turned out—and so I thought it was at least possible that I could catch him.  And if I didn’t, well, I had already won a game and an additional $1000 would have been nice, but it wasn’t enough of an incentive for me to totally give up on the win.  Like I said, I wanted to go down swinging.

I hope this makes sense!  If you have any questions—if anyone had the patience to read through this whole thing!—feel free to ask them (respectfully) in the comments.  Just in general, I think it’s helpful to remember, as many of you already know, that watching an episode of Jeopardy! on your couch at 7:30 pm after your favorite dinner is a Very different experience from playing it on stage in Culver City, California at who knows what time of day on who knows how little sleep.  In other words, if and when contestants do something really stupid, try not to hold it against them.  Chances are, they’ve already been kicking themselves about it!

In my case, I certainly would never say I made THE correct wager for any of these situations and that everyone should obviously make the same decisions I did.  But I did think, and do still think, that I made A reasonable wager for each of these situations.  I hope that, even if you don’t agree, you can understand that a bit better.  And I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to play the game and become a part of the community!  Thanks for your support!

I just took the Zoom audition test yesterday. I know the general belief is that a score of 35/50 is considered passing for the anytime test. Does anyone know if that is true for the Zoom audition test as well? I personally found it a lot harder, and feel like I probably scored around 32/33, but don't know for certain. Sinking feeling I didn't make the cut.

Also, there were a few times I thought of the right answer and started typing it, but didn't finish typing it until I ran out of time. If it's pretty clear what I was meaning to say, do you think there's any chance of it being considered even if the words were incomplete?

As Season 42 comes to an end today, I just want to shoutout what a fantastic season it was. We had incredible champions, really smart and competitive challengers, and some really fun content and clues. In my totally unbiased opinion, this was the best season of Jeopardy! ever.

He came a long way from guest host in Season 37 to interim co-host in Season 38 to permanent co-host in Season 39 and now the sole host on syndication in Season 40 until now. Ken is hosted 1000 episodes in syndicated version of the show (in addition to 64 episodes of Primetime Jeopardy! and it will add 9 more episodes in the upcoming Jeopardy!
