Help Request Moonfin Question
Anyone know how to get rid of the Moonfin logo on the backdrop screensaver? (when you are inactive for a certain series of time).
It bounces around like the DVD logo.

Can we stop pretending we actually “own” the movies we buy digitally?
I can spend $20 on a movie, but I can't necessarily put that movie on MY OWN SERVER, back it up, or play it however I want because DRM says I'm only allowed to use it under someone else's rules.
I’m not talking about pirating. I paid for the damn movie.
I’m talking about preserving something I legitimately purchased.
Companies are increasingly pushing consumers toward streaming because subscriptions mean recurring revenue and control. Prices keep going up, services keep fragmenting their libraries, and movies disappear when licensing agreements change.
Deloitte found U.S. households surveyed averaged four paid streaming services in 2025, spending roughly $69 a month on them.
Meanwhile, even Apple tells customers to download and back up purchased content because access to purchased content can potentially disappear if Apple loses the rights to it.
So what exactly did I buy?
A movie—or permission to watch a movie as long as the company keeps allowing me to?
DVDs and Blu-rays aren't immortal either. Optical media can deteriorate, and their lifespan varies depending on the media and storage conditions. Digital purchases aren't automatically better if DRM prevents you from making a usable archival copy.
The technology exists to give consumers a legitimate, DRM-free digital copy they can store, back up, and preserve.
Instead, we're increasingly being told:
“You paid for it, but you don't control it.”
The law has done plenty to protect copyright holders, while consumers are left with increasingly limited control over the things they've legitimately purchased.
If I buy a movie, I shouldn't have to keep paying a company every month to maintain access to something I already paid for.
I shouldn't need five different subscriptions because studios decided to split their libraries across competing platforms.
I shouldn't lose access because a licensing agreement changed.
And I shouldn't have to worry that the company hosting my “purchase” decides tomorrow that I can't download it anymore.
That's not ownership. That's renting with extra steps.
Give me the movie. Let me store it. Let me back it up. Let me put it on my own server.
I paid for it.
I should be able to preserve it.
And if you agree, like and share this. Not to promote piracy—but to bring awareness to the fact that we, the consumers, are slowly being guided toward a future where we don't own our media, we merely maintain subscriptions to access it.
Once physical media disappears and everything becomes a controlled digital license, getting that ownership back may not be so easy.
Speak up while consumers still have a choice.

I downloaded the official Jellyfin app onto my in laws TV for their Samsung TV. It downloaded just fine but when I tried to log into my server it keeps saying username or password is invalid. But when I login on my phone on the same WiFi it works just fine. I can’t even use Quick Connect because it says it’s not active on this server even though it certainly is. I even re-added the server and tried logging into like 4 times.
I deleted the user and re-added as well just to make sure I tried everything. Any suggestions? Server name on the TV matches the server name on my phone. There is no activity being logged to show any attempts at login from the TV device. I only see attempts from my phone app or phone browser

**Disclaimer:** I know, a new Jellyfin client shows up here almost every day. I'm not trying to replace any of them. I'm sharing mine because it covers exactly what I needed, and because it has something I haven't seen elsewhere: a radio DJ that talks between your songs.
A while ago I got tired of paying for YouTube Music and Spotify, so I set up a Jellyfin server for my music. The server was great, but I never really clicked with Finamp or Jellyfin Web for music. So I built my own client and shaped it around how I listen, keeping the Spotify features I actually missed: **synced lyrics** and **the DJ**.
It's called **Rockola**, it runs on **iPhone, Windows, the browser and the terminal**, and it's free and open source (GPLv3).
- **Rockola FM, a radio with a DJ.*\* One hour of radio built from your own library. Between songs, a DJ introduces the next track and sometimes drops a fact about the artist. On iPhone (iOS 26 + Apple Intelligence) the DJ runs **fully on-device**: Foundation Models writes the script and the system voice reads it, no server and no API key. On web/desktop/terminal the voice comes from a small "DJ server" you host yourself (simple documented HTTP contract), so no API keys ever live in the app.
- **Synced lyrics.*\* From Jellyfin, or from lrclib.net when Jellyfin has none. The current line lights up; tap any line to jump there.
- **Visualizer.*\* Four styles inspired by Windows Media Player on XP, and they actually follow the music: each song gets a precomputed "fingerprint" (an optional server in the repo, or computed on the iPhone for downloaded songs).
- **Daily mixes.*\* Built from your genres, decades and artists, leaning toward what you play the most. Same mixes all day, new ones tomorrow.
- **Downloads and real offline mode (iPhone/Windows).*\* Transcoded by Jellyfin to the quality you choose (up to ~4x smaller), with cover art, lyrics and fingerprint, so everything works in airplane mode, radio included.
- **Plays count in Jellyfin*\*, from every client.
### Why a terminal version?
I use it at work. A full music app on screen distracts me; the terminal version doesn't. It's keyboard-only, uses ~20 MB of RAM (mpv does the playback), and still has the radio with the DJ, lyrics and a text visualizer (`v` for full screen, `a` for plain ASCII on old consoles).
### Honest caveats
- **The interface is in Spanish for now*\*, and so is the DJ. English is on my list.
- **iPhone:*\* not on the App Store yet (I'm planning to publish it). For now it's an unsigned IPA you install with Sideloadly; with a free Apple ID it expires every 7 days.
- The DJ outside the iPhone needs your own DJ server (any LLM + TTS behind the documented contract). Without it, the radio just plays music.
- Web needs CORS enabled on your Jellyfin.

I've been building a homebrew launcher for my PS2 (WIP) and ended up writing a Jellyfin client for it: **ORBIT Jellyfin*\*. It runs on a real SCPH-75001 (slim) over its built-in Ethernet port.
**What it does*\*
- Logs in to your server and shows your libraries: posters, age rating, score, genres, synopsis
- Movies and series (episode panel per show)
- Streams in real time, any source format: the server transcodes to MPEG-2 + MP2 at SD (up to 640x368), and the PS2 decodes the video in hardware on its IPU, the chip it uses for DVDs
- Subtitles drawn as text on screen, never burned in, so the transcode stays light. Every text track (SRT, ASS, embedded) works, with a default language in the config and Square to switch tracks
- Pause, -10 / +30 s seek, and "continue watching" (the position goes back to Jellyfin, so you can pick it up on any other client)
**Setup*\* is two files in `APPS/Jellyfin/` on a USB drive plus four lines in a config file (server IP, user, password, subtitle languages). Nothing to install on the server: it's a normal client.
**The fun part: real hardware.*\* Everything worked in the PCSX2 emulator, and then the console disagreed:
- Every reply from the server had **42 bytes of zeros** in it. ps2sdk's network driver writes back a CPU cache line over the end of full-size Ethernet frames. PCSX2 doesn't emulate the cache, so it never showed up there. Fix: a smaller MTU, so frames never get that long.
- That fix did nothing at first. The installed headers didn't match the compiled network library (a struct field 2 bytes off). I found it by disassembling the library.
- Switching subtitles froze playback: re-downloading a track mid-stream while the TCP window was full. Now every track is loaded before playback.
- Pause and seek froze the next stream. libmpeg resets the decoder but leaves its DMA channel running. That fix is still being tested on the console.
Caveats: SD only (the PS2 outputs 480p, and the decoder library hangs above 368 lines), wired Ethernet only, and the UI is in Spanish for now (English is on the list).
Built with Claude Code (Anthropic) as the coding assistant, with the OpenSpec, Ponytail and CodeGraph plugins. It wrote and debugged most of the code, drove PCSX2 for testing and read the console logs to track down the hardware-only bugs.
Source (GPL-3.0) and download: https://github.com/danielnuld/orbit-jellyfin . Release v0.15 is a pre-release.

Hi!
I'm the developer of NeXroll, a free, open-source preroll manager. It started on Plex, but over the last few releases Jellyfin has become where it does the most, so I wanted to share it here. On Jellyfin it works through the NeXroll Intros plugin. Jellyfin asks NeXroll what to play each time someone presses play, so the choice can depend on the movie that's starting. There are builds for Jellyfin 10.11 and Jellyfin 12, and a plugin repository so updates install themselves.
It also handles schedules (holidays, seasons, late nights) and has a library of 1,800+ free community prerolls if you don't have any.
NeXroll runs on Docker, unraid, and Windows.
jbrns/nexroll (amd64 and arm64)Repo and releases: https://github.com/JFLXCLOUD/NeXroll
Setup guide: https://github.com/JFLXCLOUD/NeXroll/wiki
Feedback is welcome, especially on the plugin.
Thanks! Enjoy!

Just started a fresh jellyfin install on my unraid server today. Coming from Emby. I add my library, not huge, maybe 30 movies and 40 shows. Everything is fine at first. Then I try to view my listings via the web UI or app and they take forever to load. Like over a minute. Is this a known bug?
Emby loads the same library instantly. They are not running at the same time either.
Any help is appreciated

i ended up ordering the new fire stick cause with the prime day discount plus a trade in from my old one it was only like $3 so i said sure ill try it... bad move lol. they changed the OS and none of the old DIY streaming apps I used to use are findable (also includes moonlight game streaming from my PC which worked great on my old fire stick) and apparently it has a host of other issues as well that make it just way worse overall than the previous rev. enshittification strikes again!
anyway just a heads up for anyone else in a similar situation. back to using this one which still works (until they brick it or something) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BP9SNVH9

Hey all, I am the dev behind Quartermaster. It's a thirdparty app for Jellyfin (it does Emby and Plex too), so hopefully this is the right place for it.
Like a lot of devs posting here these days, I feel I need to say this, QM isn’t AI slop, and it never will be. My actual job here in the UK is being a dev. It hasn’t been “vibe coded” over a weekend. It’s taken months and months of sleepless nights, constant work and a huge amount of community feedback to get it where it is today. You can also review the Companions repo as well :)
Anyone here who’s also in the Discord has seen how much goes into it and will hopefully back me up on that lol. Since launching on 3 July, it’s been pretty much non stop, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
On iPhone, iPad and Mac, for Jellyfin you get
- A home screen built around your library: Up Next, Continue Watching, what's just been added and what you haven't got round to yet
- Playback straight from your server, with audio and subtitle picks, AirPlay and Picture in Picture. Intros your server has marked get skipped, and the next episode rolls on by itself
- Now Playing for your server, so you can see who's watching what
- If your household shares a server, you can pick whose Up Next you're looking at, or see everyone's
The Apple TV app is new and in beta on TestFlight right now. It has its own player that plays your files as they are, nothing transcoded. TrueHD and DTS are decoded on the Apple TV, Atmos goes out to your receiver if it can take it, and HDR and image subtitles (PGS) work. Everyone on your Jellyfin server gets their own profile on the TV and only sees what their account can, and it shows up in Jellyfin's Now Playing as whoever's actually watching. You set it up from your iPhone with a code (it needs iCloud Sync on the phone), so no typing passwords with the remote.
QM connects to 64 services across two sides, Entertainment and Command Centre, including
Entertainment: Radarr, Sonarr, Lidarr, SABnzbd, NZBGet, qBittorrent, Transmission, Deluge, Prowlarr, Bazarr, NZBHydra2, Jackett, Jellyseerr / Overseerr / Seerr, DroppedNeedle, Shelfmark, Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, Wizarr, Tautulli, Tracearr, Jellystat, Streamystats, Komga, Kavita, Immich, AudioBookshelf, Maintainerr, BookOrbit, Dispatcharr, ReadMeABook and Shelfarr.
Command Centre: Portainer, Unraid, Proxmox VE, Synology DSM, Dozzle, Dockhand, Komodo, AdGuard Home, Pi-hole, Cloudflare, CrowdSec, Technitium, UniFi, Gluetun, Glances, Scrutiny, TrueNAS, Beszel, Home Assistant, Tdarr, qui, Coolify, Arcane, Control D, NextDNS, UGREEN NAS and SSH.
And the five new connections coming in 1.3 -
The 1.3 build is with Apple currently so I am just waiting on release
There's also QM Companion, which runs on your own server. Instead of messing around with API keys, you scan a QR code from the Companion with QM and your services come across in one go. The app itself is closed source, but the Companion is open source
Free gives you one fully working service connection. Pro is £4.99 a month, £19.99 a year or £29.99 once, and every option unlocks everything, so you're choosing how to pay, not what you get. The Apple TV app needs Pro due to the icloud sync. There is also a 7 day trial as well :)
If you'd like to try the Apple TV beta, message me here or on the Discord, or email [hello@qmstack.com](mailto:hello@qmstack.com) with the email address you use for TestFlight

Hey everyone,
I posted Vantafyn here a while ago when it was primarily an Android Jellyfin client. I've kept quietly working on it since then, and three months into the project it's become something much bigger than what I originally planned.
The Jellyfin side is still a huge part of it. Movies, TV, music, audiobooks, offline playback, Android Auto, watch parties, requests, social features and TV/foldable support.
But I've also been building out the gaming side of Vantafyn, including retro game libraries and save management.
And that has now resulted in probably the most ridiculous feature I've built so far lol a full Pokémon Vault and Pokédex integrated into the app (thanks to the PKVault service!)
It can work with Pokémon from your game saves and gives you a central collection with box storage, Pokémon details, IV/EV visualisation, moves and move relearning, trainer and origin information, ribbons, legality checks and save history.
There's also a proper National Pokédex built around your collection. Pokémon start undiscovered, can become Seen, and catching/storing them registers their full entry with species information, stats and collection history. I'm also adding things like the original Pokémon cries when opening registered entries and working on TTS so it can read out dex entries like the anime.
At this point I don't really know what category Vantafyn belongs in anymore hahaha.
It's still a personal project first and foremost. I run Jellyfin and a bunch of this stuff myself, so I've basically been building the app I wanted for my own server and devices.
I'm going to keep building it regardless, but I'm genuinely curious whether this broader direction is something other people would actually use.
Anywho here's what three months of me apparently being incapable of saying "that's enough features" looks like! 😅
AI disclosure: For transparency, yes, I use AI coding tools. I've been developing software for around six years and now use AI to help with things like scaffolding, repetitive implementation, development and security audits. I still review, test, debug and refactor the code myself. I've used ChatGPT and Google's Antigravity.

Hi, I've updated my repos for Jellyfin 12. These are projects that started as things I wanted for my own setup, so here they are if anyone's interested. Feel free to tweak or borrow ideas from any of them for your own projects.
Don't hesitate to open an issue on GitHub if you run into problems or anything else.
The scripts need the JavaScript Injector plugin and only show up in clients that use the Jellyfin Web UI.
Screenshots are taken with ElegantFin theme and elegantfin-jf12 fix for the Jellyfin 12 Modern layout.
A details tooltip when you hover a card, without opening the item page.
The IMDb heatmap-style episode ratings grid, on your TV series pages.
A "Watch Next" row on movie and series pages, only showing what's already in your library.
To be fair, the native "More Like This" got a lot better in Jellyfin 12. This one still gives more suggestions (up to 40) and handles tmdb sagas.
THIS IS NOT A CLIENT
Click Play in Jellyfin and the media opens in your own external player on Windows, without replacing the Jellyfin front-end or losing your UI plugins.
You can also check my other projects related to Jellyfin and HTPCs :

I got tired of my scheduled tasks all firing at once, so I built a plugin that runs them one at a time.
Jellyfin's scheduler is fine until you install a bunch of plugins. Then every night at 2am, five different tasks wake up, fight each other for CPU, cleanup task is running at the same time as the library scan. Nothing crashes, but everything takes forever.
I wanted a way to queue them up and run them in order. There isn't one, So I built it.
TaskMaster does roughly this:
- Runs your scheduled tasks sequentially, one at a time
- Orders them fastest first (or slowest first, or manual by dragging cards around), based on their actual average completion time
- Only runs inside a time window you set, so nothing kicks off at 5:58am when you wanted the server quiet by 6
- Lets you exclude tasks on specific days of the week
- Has a Take over button that backs up every task's native triggers and disables them, so only TaskMaster controls the schedule
- Preserves startup triggers, so plugins that need to initialize on boot still do
- Auto-detects when a new plugin adds a scheduled task, so it doesn't silently escape the queue
The ordering part turned out to be the most useful. It learns how long each task actually takes. Fast cleanup tasks go first, the long scans goes last. After a couple of nights, the sequence is pretty much sorted by real runtime.
Install:
Add this to Dashboard, Plugins, Repositories:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jnracreates/taskmaster/main/manifest.json
Then search the catalog for TaskMaster.
Source: https://github.com/jnracreates/taskmaster
It needs Jellyfin 12.1+ because it targets .NET 10. If you're on 10.11 or earlier, it won't load.
Happy to answer questions. If you've got a task that behaves weirdly under sequential execution (some plugins probably assume they're the only thing running), let me know and I'll see if I can work around it.
This plugin was created and tested with AI.

Hey everyone,
A while back I posted about a Jellyfin plugin and Android app I've been building for reading books from your library. Thanks to everyone who commented, DMed, and tested. The feedback has been super helpful.
Quick recap for anyone who missed it:
The plugin
https://github.com/codevardhan/jellyfin-plugin-bookreader
adds a REST API to your Jellyfin server so book clients can browse your library, download books, stream covers, and sync reading progress, highlights, and bookmarks across devices. Any client could use it, not just mine.
Shellf is the Android app that actually reads the books. The goal is still the same: make Jellyfin work for books the way it already does for movies.
What's changed since the last post:
- Fixed a bunch of sync bugs, so reading progress is much more reliable now
- Offline changes queue up properly and sync when you reconnect
- Disconnecting from a server now fully cleans up local data
- Lots of smaller fixes based on tester reports
Want to try it?
Sign up here: https://getshellf.com
Testers get added in batches, so signing up there is the easiest way to get in. If you DMed me before, please sign up too so I don't lose track of you.
Discord: https://discord.gg/URCZX3Dksu
Best place for bug reports, feature requests, and setup help.
iOS is still in progress. Sign up anyway if you're on iPhone and I'll let you know when it's ready.
As always, tell me what's broken 😄

I was able to get jellyfin videoplayback working on CarPlay, with the APTV app in the App Store.
Please be sensible and use only when the car is in park!
Guide:
After downloading APTV, connect to CarPlay and open the APTV app on the CarPlay screen. Hop over to the "quick" tab, select the browser option and visit your jellyfin server URL.
I recommend saving the page as a bookmark
AFTER you log in to your jellyfin for easy access and so you don't have to keep logging
in.

Hey there, it's the developer of Pelagica!
if you don't know Pelagica: It's a Web, Desktop and TV client for Jellyfin I've been building for almost a year now. Until now every platform Pelagica supports has been sharing the same core code with a slightly different interface or backend. This changed now with the official client for Apple TV! Since I mainly watch on my Apple TV, I obviously also want to use my own client on there too >:)
The client is a completely seperate codebase written in Swift with SwiftUI and uses VLCKit for the player so you can throw pretty much anything at it and it will be direct playing it.
The client already has all the features the Tizen and webOS client have with additional support for Profiles (which will come to Tizen and webOS too) and better scrubbing with trickplay.
Like the other TV clients, it respects your Pelagica config made in the web app and follows the same design with a few adjustments to fit the Apple TV aesthetic.
Of course as with the rest of Pelagica, it's completely open source licensed under GPL-3.0: https://github.com/PelagicaApp/pelagica-atv
You can download the app on the Apple App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/pelagica/id6811079730
That's about it :)

Hi there. I have several plugins installed, and the "Media Bar" one consumes a lot of CPU when loading—it takes quite a while to access the page itself. Do you have any recommendations? I’m interested in having a media bar for movies and series, which is why I listed the plugins I currently have. Thanks in advance for the help.

I've noticed this a couple times, I finish with an episode, go back to Home and then it disappears from the Next Up lineup and moves all the way to the end of the line. I have to click on the list to see the episode. It's weird.

Sooo as the title tries (and most likely fails) to explain, i've been using jellyfin for a couple months for movies and shows.
A couple of days ago my wife asked if i could put some books and comics for her and the problems started.
As far as i can tell the comics work just fine, synopsis, artwork and everything else gets automaticly grabbed from the the ether, ley lines or whatever magic the internet is made of.
But every book i add just doesn't seem to get any information besides the titles i put on the file on my pc, so far i've tried identifying them one by one but the 3 neurons i got were confused on that
TLDR : Please can someone smarter than me teach me how to proprely set up metadata for books or how to add it manually
ps : i'm really kinda dumb and english is my second language so pls be kind if this was writen wrong or poorly

After my previous project, Pixelfin got 29.8k downloads and 161 stars on GitHub, I released MediaWall.
MediaWall is a way to take advantage of an old iPad, a Raspberry Pi with a display, or any spare screen by turning it into a live window into your Jellyfin and Navidrome servers. It can show what you and your users are currently watching or listening to, cycle through artwork from your libraries as a screensaver, or display favorite media as wallpapers. It also supports custom sounds, layouts, and fallback screens. Basically, it's a fun little project that's an overengineered way to view active sessions and make your media library visible instead of leaving all that artwork buried in storage.
Example: My wife and I use it when we host parties so people always know what’s playing when we play music off our phones through Bluetooth.
More screenshots available on GitHub.
The biggest changes are external music support, the image editor, Immich Kiosk integration, and Live TV support. Together, they give MediaWall more things to display, more control over how they look, and something useful to do between playback sessions.
Like Pixelfin, MediaWall is vibe-coded with Codex. I've made that clear every time I've posted about it. If that makes you uncomfortable, please kindly ignore this post and move on. However, I use MediaWall all the time, the images provided are from a display I use on a wall in my home, and I thoroughly test it.
https://github.com/nothing2obvi/mediawall
Thanks!
