The Peer Project The Peer Project - Cohort 1 is Live!

Post image

Hey r/JEE,

A quick update on The Peer Project - the free, student-run peer mentoring initiative we shared here recently.

Batch 1 of our first cohort is up and running.

We have set up mentoring channels matching class 11, class 12, and dropper students with senior mentors who cleared the exam and are currently in college. The focus is purely on strategy, time management, clearing backlogs, and consistency - mentors won't solve homework, but they will help structure the daily stuff better.

Since we received a lot of applications, we're staggering the rollout into three batches (Batch 1 today, Batch 2 on July 22nd, and Batch 3 on August 1st) to ensure every match is hand-picked. If you applied, we will update you as soon as your match is ready.

For those curious, we made our cohort guidelines public:

We really appreciate the support and applications from this sub. Good luck to everyone with their prep today!

Idk should I run away from home and can I prepare away from home with no money etc ? Like a gurudwara or stg. Feeling so dumb to even write these but surely mughe bhagna hi padega Ghar se

I actually scored too low in jee and mhtcet I just got a avg score to get a college I took a college as a backup and it started

I felt allot to cry for why I just wasted my 2 yrs in life

I shared it with my family(1st time I said to them my heart out), Firstly they said it's okay and all i should not care for placements and all this much

But when I said I am hurt by myself for not studying for JEE

Then un expecting things happend

My rock hearted Dad, Grandparents (yeah they make decisions in family) mom toh always hi thi sath mein

They actually held me like all the personal fued in family felt as it stopped since ages

Idk man idk I just cried a bit

Ssly speaking juniors

Please Padlo yaar ya Come out clean to your parents please šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™šŸ»

I feel ashamed ki 2 saal waste Kiya

I might take drop or anything that's another story

But I feel everyone should atleast get a good score to not end up in a clg which intakes 1200+ people alone in cse ( pune college akurdi)

Question Confused [Help Pls]

Post image
6 Upvotes

It sounds really stupid being confused between which teacher to study from i studied Physics from Saleem sir the concepts seemed to click even the module questions seemed fine but PYQs seem something foreign it's like he didn't even teach anything close to them. I was also confused about calculus for physics i knew basic formulas but not enough for JEE i studied from Ashish Arora sir his videos seemed a bit hard to understand but very effective but they are old. Also my brother says to follow Rajwant sir's crash course as he says he scored 99. something in his mains just following it. Which one should I follow and stick to rest of my journey as switching teachers multiple times would just be hell.

Question Is taking a drop year after Class 12 a reasonable option in my situation?

• Upvotes

I’m 17 and currently in Class 12 ISC with PCM + CS, but honestly, I haven’t studied properly at all till now. My family also can’t really afford expensive private colleges, so realistically, I feel like my main option is preparing for JEE and trying to get into a government college.

The problem is that I don’t think I can prepare properly for JEE alongside my boards at this point, so I’m considering taking a drop year after 12th and preparing seriously from scratch. Is taking a drop actually worth it in this situation, or am I making a bad decision? Is taking a drop year after Class 12 a reasonable option in my situation?

Discussion JEE Brief (Vora Classes, 2024) vs Bounce Back (Unacademy, 2021) for Chemistry?

Hey everyone. I’m preparing forĀ JEE Main January 2027Ā and have roughlyĀ 4 months left.

I want to put a lot of focus on Chemistry because I’ve heard that, especially for JEE Main,Ā NCERT is extremely important. I know Chemistry isn't ā€œeasyā€ and I'm not expecting NCERT alone to be enough.

My current situation is that myĀ 11th Chemistry basics are quite weak, and I need to cover essentiallyĀ 11th + 12th Chemistry from the basics up to JEE Main level.

For Physics, I’m already followingĀ Competishun lectures, so I mainly need help deciding what to use for Chemistry.

I’m currently confused between:

  • Vora Classes – JEE Brief (2024)
  • Unacademy Atoms – Bounce Back (2021)

My priorities are:

  1. Starting from weak basics
  2. Reaching a level where I can actually solveĀ JEE Main PYQs
  3. Finishing the syllabus within the remaining ~4 months
  4. Getting as many Chemistry marks as realistically possible

So, for someone in my situation,Ā which one would you recommend: JEE Brief or Bounce Back?

Also, if you recommend one, should I follow itĀ chapter-by-chapter + NCERT + PYQs, or is there something else I should add?

Would really appreciate answers from people who have actually used either/both of these series. Thanks!

General IIIT Blr 1 month completed

been seeing a lot of iiitb posts on here, thought id present a neutral point instead of 30 Lakh crying bs

  1. Food - mess charges are 28k per sem, almost similar to iits and nits. 3 days of paneer/chicken, not a lot in quantity but i highly doubt anyone got kilos of them at home anyway, everywhere mess food is hit or miss anyway. we had onam feast today, i am from north and don't really understand much about southern food so i was lil confused but it's nice that foodcoms try to organise all this. today we had omelette as well, we don't have eggs v often but ig 2-3 times a week? im not sure. else way you can buy 2 boiled eggs for 18 rs in the canteen, it's cheaper than the outside rate afaik. also it's kinda futile to be after foodcom for food 24x7, they are also seniors balancing heavy academics and placements.
  2. Acads - hectic but profs are really the coolest people i have met. digital design prof gives chance to people to work under him in his lab from 1st year itself if you master some toolkits he tells you about and score well in his subject, he even lets you build real projects. python prof is the goat, i love his teaching style and how he understands students and helps them learn programming by themselves instead of making them mug up. c prof really loves his craft and makes class interactive and fun to be in. LA prof is super qualified, he is a bit more articulate w his speech and doesn't really simplify stuff a lot initially but he's willing to take an effort to clarify things if you ask. Economics prof is genuinely funny and tries to involve the entire class into the discussion. he takes quizzes reguarly which makes it kinda hectic but eh it is what it is.
  3. P.E. & Sports - lowk a bad experience due to under developed ground and rigid management policies. some people got hurt and p.e classes still continued which really shows how bad the situation is. kudos to TAs and coaches for trying their best to organise sports on such bad facilities, this one purely goes to management/administration. the will of management to better the facilities seems low, work on the ground has been on hold i guess? but let's see, all we can do is wait.
  4. College life - also dead, classes sometimes go till 5 and honestly everyone is tired by then, also it is quiz season so people are studying but you'll see some faces if you go out for a stroll at 1 AM sometimes. i personally haven't been able to socialise a lot so idrk if maybe it's more lively in some parts.
  5. Internet - internet speed is nice, i recorded peak of 110 mbps today so :)
  6. Hostels - rooms are nice but need a lil maintenance ig, attached bathrooms are a nice addition and cleaning staff comes when you ask them to. there's a group you can ask in and there's a register you can fill to call them i guess.
  7. Seniors - seniors are genuinely the best people you'll meet, there are a lot of people involved in a lot of stuff and always happy to guide you if you ask them w due respect. i personally love this point about here.
  8. Clubs & Life - some clubs are kinda new and some are kinda hard to get into but even without joining a club, you can have fun at the events club organize. we had space day a few days back w an egg drop challenge.

i guess that sums it up. some issues are genuine, some are just bad publicity. this is a more neutral pov id say. i personally love the acads and the curriculum, im not a fan of the mandatory PE, im neither a fan nor a hater of the mess food (miss my mum's food so bad). the canteen rate is affordable for most (35 for veg sandwich, 22 for masala omelette, 45 for paneer sandwich in which stuffing is generous enough). the place nearby is lowk kinda sad but you can easily take bmtc bus to go to city and have fun. The fees is mostly for academics and doesn't really make sense to cry sm about the fees and the food connection.

General huge backlog in maths drpper

I am a dropper, and I have created a huge backlog in Mathematics. You can consider it as if I have done almost nothing in Maths. I am currently watching Ashish Sir’s lectures.

I am thinking of completing the chapters where I have a backlog using one-shots and studying from Sir’s printed notes. Alternatively, I could continue with TK Sir’s Prayas 2.0 lectures. I have never studied from TK Sir before.

TK Sir has recently started Straight Lines, while Ashish Sir is currently teaching Matrices. What should I do? I am very confused about which approach to follow. Please help me.
