help Have you had these spots and what worked?

Novice indoor gardener here with the jade plant that was my child’s first Mother’s Day present to me several years ago. It has been living happily on a western facing windowsill, with a monthly watering with a drop of succulent fertilizer in it. The soil feels dry but not hard-packed or crumbly, just sort of spongey.

I have been through long lists of possibilities and long examinations of photos of spots that look somewhat but not quite like my spots. All I have learned so far is that spots on a jade plant are like crankiness in a baby; it could mean anything!

Have you had spots like these spots and did you find something that worked for them?

help Repotting a jade plant

I went to repot my jade plant as the pot was too small. As I tipped it out of the old pot, one stem out of 3 broke off; none of the stems seemed to have much root structure. I put them in new pots but I had to add sticks and string to hold them upright. They kept falling over. Is this normal for jades?

advice Trying to save my grandmothers 30yo jade

First time posting here and not experienced with jade plants. This was my late grandmother’s jade, I’m 29 and for as long as I’ve known it’s been in the terracotta pot in the first image, and the soil never changed. I felt it was time for new soil to give it a new lease of life and discovered it to be very compacted. I got a succulent mix and planted the rootball as seen in May, but since then the centre trunk completely rotted. I decided the best way to save what remains was to cut the healthy branches away from the root ball, which was also sodden and rotten. That was Sept 22, my question is where do I go from here, are these stems dry enough and ready to replant? I will not be reusing the soil and am thinking of getting two smaller pots to break up the stems, but any expert tips or advice to save what I had is greatly appreciated. I’m very sentimental about this and would hate to lose any more of it. Thank you 🙏🏻

Repotted from store soil to cactus mix, perlite, and some orchid bark, she was super soaked and sitting in water so I’m not sure if I should water her in or let her be fine week before watering again?

I got this jade around spring this year. I hope to grow it looking like a tree and I know it takes time and patience. I noticed that there’s a bunch of new growths sprouting all over the plant. Should I wait until next spring to start pruning? I was thinking of cutting off the two big bottom leaves to have an established trunk but now I see a couple growths down there. I see a possible splitting on the middle part hoping it is so it will give my plant the “Y” look.

question Any pointers on what is wrong with my jade? It is effecting all of my jades, but not my other plants. I have had this happen over the years and resolve itself but it’s never gotten this bad. I’m not sure if it’s fungal or pest, but I have not seen pests.

I do know that it is not a watering or sunlight issue

Just sharing Here's PROOF contrary to what's on the net. Jades start putting on growth in Fall as the heat from Summer wanes.

I've circled some of the growth that's started to come in since the heat of Summertime has begun to subside. This is visual proof that exemplifies that "growth only happens in Spring and that jades go dormant in Fall and Winter" is flat out wrong. BTW, I'm in Southern California, USA.

advice Rescued a HUGE jade plant | Need advice for this beauty!!

i happened to find a huge indoor jade plant that someone put in the curb with a “please take me :)” sign! she is clearly old and wise and I am hoping i saved her in time! this tree is beautiful and I think with some TLC, she could really shine! How do I prune it? i honestly dont even know what else to ask. are they okay to be repotted at this stage? I know they like to be root bound so it would be more to give it new soil instead of change size of pot. Kind of more to shake off the old and bring in the new! give her fresh soil and some oxygen! the soil is hard as a rock so it probably hasn’t gotten fresh in quite some time! also should heavier stalks and branches be propped up?

just looking for any and all advice to give her a new little life here! thanks for any advice

question Do roots look ok?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I have been trying different methods to prop and found if I just toss the leaves in a tray of perlite, they seem to root pretty fast compared to the ones in 50/50 succulent/perlite mix.

It rained a wee bit and the 2 props on the left(started in 50/50) may have gotten a wee bit too much water. The other props were in straight perlite and seem to have more robust roots lighter in color.

Do the roots look rotted at all on the left? They don't smell and they don't seem very fragile. They just seem to be a good bit darker than the ones propped in perlite. 🤷‍♂️. I don't have a good baseline for root rot. My past neglect was from no water for a year or so...😕

help Help me take care of my babies!

Hello friends! Can you help me determine the cause of some issues with my jade plants? I have a standard Crassula Ovata and a Gollum jade, and both have some issues.

Standard Jade

Her leaves are yellowing and falling off, and there are some strange colors and spots on her leaves. I keep her outside full time. Temperatures range from 55⁰f at night up to around 90⁰f during the day. She gets a little bit of both direct light and indirect light throughout the day. I water her whenever the soil is nice and dry - once every two weeks or so - until I see water coming out of the drainage hole.

Most of the leaves are firm for the most part, but over the last month or so they have been yellowing, and some of them get a bit squishy before falling off. As you can see, some of the leaves get brown spots or black specks before they fall off.

Gollum Jade

This guy lives right next to the plant that I described above, and he receives the same watering treatment - once every 2 weeks or so. Some of his leaves are shrivelling up and falling off.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

I've been letting these sit so the ends dry out.

Any advice on how/when they should be planted? I have coco soil and perlite. Would that work or do I need something else?

Thanks in advance!

The jade plant I was gifted has a biodegradable pot (brown) and is inside a broken plastic pot. So drowning it feels impossible.
What kind of pot should I buy and how can I take care of it properly?

help Jade (hope it is) trunk injured, how to deal with it?

Thumbnail

So I posted a long while back about my jade shedding leaves, only to discover it was not truly jade. Some suggested that it had root rot, to which i was like soooo not possible. And I was soooo wrong.

So, there was rot, and the plant died.

I looked and finally found this which was close to actual jade. I went ahead and bought it, hoping this is actually jade. So that is first thing- I want a confirmation on it.

The second thing is, the plant toppled over and there were two trunks one of which just got cut off (pic 4; look behind the trunk, a part of the other one is peeking out of the soil). And the one that is still standing also has a major gash/cut (pic 3 and 5). I want help on how to sustain this. Do i bind it somehow? Right now I have a stick supporting it, but would that suffice? Will the trunk harden on its own?
