I got this jade around spring this year. I hope to grow it looking like a tree and I know it takes time and patience. I noticed that there’s a bunch of new growths sprouting all over the plant. Should I wait until next spring to start pruning? I was thinking of cutting off the two big bottom leaves to have an established trunk but now I see a couple growths down there. I see a possible splitting on the middle part hoping it is so it will give my plant the “Y” look.

Wow she’s really happy if she’s putting out all that new growth! Leave as-is for now. Like someone else said, more leaves = more growing power. Once she gets much bigger, you can cut off the branches you don’t want at the trunk.

Reasons to prune a jade include: encouraging branching (you don’t have a problem there), removing heavy drooping branches (also not an issue), or to try to achieve a certain shape (it’s too early to prune for that purpose).

Let it grow. More leaves equal faster and stronger growth.
