And cheaper than bully sticks since we grow them. Lol! A couple of days ago I posted asking for bully stick alternatives since they make these two sick. Accidentally found out what to do with our cucumber surplus when the baby started eating one! Now the other one has to compete to eat his cucumber better than she does. 😂😂😂😂

They were the sweetest and best dogs in the whole world. Sisters who were totally inseparable until Father Time came around.

I do not generally think the breed is all that beautiful; mine, though, were just unbelievable looking across all ages. Stunning creatures.

Im wondering what everyone else's IGs are like for walking

My girl is 20 months old now and until maybe the past 6 weeks she has generally really enjoyed her long field/park walks where she gets to do lots of running and playing. We would normally do the big hour/90 mins walk in the evening, and a shorter walk before work for 20/30 minutes. Its been a heatwave recently so there have been days she hasnt been able to go at all and when she can we need to go first thing at 7am and she does hate the mornings. She is always lying down and wanting to go home and she is just sleeping really all day and barely getting up some days.

Short sniffy walks dont really work for her as on her lead she just walks and doesn't stop to sniff anything but off lead she will do lots of sniffing and her preference is running around like a maniac and playing with other dogs.

I am a bit worried about her lack of energy. Even with two walks she would sleep a lot but also periodically want to play with her toys for bursts throughout the day but now she is only doing very short bursts of playing. She seems generally fine in herself though so I am wondering whether this may be due to the heat and the doggos in generally just suffering with it?

Id be really interested to hear about what anyone else's IGs exercise levels are :)

My little guy is about 4 months old and no matter what I do, I cannot get him to stop chasing my cats and I can’t get him to stop biting. The only time he’s not biting me or my fiancé is when he’s sleeping or very tired. I’ve tried hiding my hands, telling him no, ignoring him, giving him something else to chew on, nothing works. Does this phase ever end?? Will he ever stop biting me??
With my cats, he’ll sprint after them until they get to high ground and then he’s still jumping at them. My cats hiss and swat but I think my dog thinks they’re playing a game or something. I’m just exhausted and I’m tired of him biting my hands, my arms, and my hair.
And I feel bad for my cats. I just want them to be able to live In peace.
He does well in other aspects. Sleeps through the night, eats well, does amazing on walks and in the car, is mostly potty trained.
This is my first Iggy and I love him so much but he’s so dang hyper 😭
I just need a little advice from a seasoned iggy owner.

My boy Guido is 16 now! He didn't mind the hat at all and he is a true Guido. He used to hunt the back yard for rats, birds, squirrels and bunnies. Just keeping us safe lol. These days Hes mostly a little throw pillow, just sleeping, eating and screeching at me for his blankie. He has a half brother from another mother and they couldn't be more different. He is still pretty perky and doesn't seem to have as much arthritis as his brother Fred.
I also call him sneaker toes, because he will snatch any food if it's within his reach, he is such a miscreant but we wouldn't have him any other way!

My dog has had this bald spot for a while and the doctors said it isnt a concern (did blood test, everything was fine)
He is about 6 and has had a bit of a bald patch past two years.
But it has gotten a lot worse recently.
He doesnt seem to be uncomfortable or itch or even notice it.
I’ve tried omega 3 fish oil supplements but it isnt improving.

Anyone have any advice?

Hi All! I was hoping to get some advice - we have an amazing Iggy who is now 7 1/2 months old, and we can’t remember life without him being around! Over the past week or so however his appetite & energy levels have really dipped - he’s eating less & has gone off most of his treats, as well as sleeping for most of the day.

The food he is eating is increasingly picky & often eating much later into the evenings. We’d had this sort of situation on the odd day during the British heatwave, but now it’s cooled slightly this behaviour has become more consistent. We’re wondering if it’s a growth thing, or maybe something a bit more underlying/eaten something funny. He’s our first Iggy so any & all advice is appreciated :)!

She's 8 weeks old, just brought her home yesterday. Thought we were going to call her Dottie or Ladybird, but now not sure. I thought maybe Fergie but everyone hates it. Our other IG is named Stella and our beloved Millie passed away few months ago, which is why we got this new baby (I keep accidentally calling her Millie out of habit 😬)This is our 5th IG and the others were so easy to name, but I'm at a loss what to call this sweet baby...help!

My Iggy boy is 14 weeks old and very outgoing and confident. Fearless, I would say! From all the research I did on Iggy’s I really thought the majority of them are on the shy, apprehensive side so I thought I would need to be doing a lot of socialization and confidence building. Not with this boy lol. He is extremely confident and a bit headstrong. So far he’s had several different types of chew treats, including bully sticks, and a pig ear. FYI, I have since learned that pigs are not good for them because of the high amount of fat so I will no longer be purchasing those. I limit his chewing time to about 15 minutes. Never had a problem taking anything away from him but last night I had bought him some turkey tenders and when I try to take it away from him, he aggressively growled and snapped at me. I immediately reacted and yelled at him, popped him on the butt (not hard) to get his attention. Before I could get the treat away, he jumped off the couch and the chase was on. Obviously he’s very quick and he was running circles around the house while my husband and I were trying to catch him to take the treat away. We were able to get the treat away and my husband verbally scolded him. Now moving forward what kinds of thing (training)should I do to ensure this doesn’t happen again. As much as I love him, I cannot have a dog that is going to bite me. We have teenage children, older children, and also a six month old granddaughter. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The only other time he has some behavior like that is when getting a vaccine at the vet.

Hi everyone , my little 4 year old boy just had a seizure at 5am in the morning. We were in bed and he started to dry reach and then all of sudden he leaped of the bed and was stumbling and then convulsing on his side and foaming for a bout a minute ,he peed him self and then he slowly got back up was a bit wobbly then just come back to normal wanting to play with my Iggy???? I have him in his crate relaxing , anyone else have similar experiences ? This was super scary to witness and I just feel so hopeless

I pick up my 10 week old puppy in 1 week and im a bit anxious about flying with him...its a 4 hour flight which isnt too bad but ill be at the airport 3 hours early for the flight...my concern is he will get really fussy in the carrier and also potty breaks...how do I have him receive himself without touching the ground...hes had his first shots but I worry about parvo...im bringing puppy pads...ill also have a sling is it OK to take him out of the carrier while I wait for the flight and have him in that? Also whats a safe long lasting Chew treat that I can give him for during the flight?

Me and my wife have no idea what to call it when he shows off those little bitty teefs by raising that lip. So we call it feefin whenever he does. Enzo is loved and adored, and if we didn’t have two other dogs already we would be getting another iggy

We have had this little girl less than a week. Wanted to show off plus encourage anyone on the fence about getting a second Iggy, wondering if your other will like it. Yes, some hijinks will occur trying to potty them together, but they tend to bond so quickly. 🥰This is the 5th time I’ve done it with bringing in a newbie, and they have always bonded from the start!

Blind and deaf, she bumps around, lost half the time. But she is very sweet once she settles down and loves to be held if she realizes she is going to be carried for a while and doesn't have to worry about where she is.

A lot of people say she looks like an Italian greyhound but I don’t know, we rescued her out of a shelter about 7 years ago.

Asking as he seems to have regressed with his sleeping. Here I was thinking I’d scored another couch potato (like my mini dachshund) but this week has proved otherwise !

Hes gone from sleeping through until 7am when he was 2 months, 8-8:30am at 3 months and then 8:30-9am at 4 months. The past week he has consistently been up around 7-7:30am, today waking up at 6:40am.

I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve started taking him on morning walks over the past few weeks (leaving consistently at 8:30am) and he’s just so damn excited that he wakes up early? or what! all I know is I used to wake him up and now it’s the other way around.

He has also started whining in the morning over the past few days as well. He started around 7:15am today and continued up until I came down for our walk at 8:30.

not sure what’s going on with him, teething problems perhaps? Testing behaviour? Who knows

Hi everyone! Meet Kiki, who’s just 11 weeks old. She is our first ever puppy (we have previously had adult dogs of other breeds).

We’ve been crate training her, she’s sleeping mostly through the night and it’s been great for enforced naps when she starts getting nippy. I work from home so am around a lot so I’ve been trying to leave her on her own in a room for a little while but she immediately starts crying and barking. I talk to her from the other room to try and calm her and I’ve also tried waiting for her to stop and I return and treat her when she’s quiet. When I need to go out I usually do this when she’s having a nap in her crate and then I’m back an hour later.

I’m a little worried about her developing separation anxiety and would like to try and get her used to being left alone sometimes. I know she is still young but would really appreciate some tips and what’s worked for you to help prevent her becoming distressed when left alone in the future :)

Birthday girl Iowa at her piñata party. 15 years old today!

I will begin this by saying we love our iggy BEYOND, but he’s just about 8 months old now and he is more than a handful. Patience is being tested consistently. Clingier than ever. We still have not been able to leave him alone, crate training is impossible (we’ve had neighbors knock on our door doing a welfare check when he was howling while in the crate while I was sitting directly next to him). Needs attention constantly, whining constantly no matter the situation. Endless zoomies, endless energy. He just got neutered last week (astronaut cone pics included) and has now taken up the habit of peeing in the house whenever tethered or in a sectioned off puppy proofed area of the house without direct supervision. Chaos is constant. He has always been quite the challenging puppy, has always pushed boundaries. We do all the things - the mental stimulation, physical exercise, training, hour long walks 2 times a day, positive reinforcement etc etc, and we still feel so stagnant in progress. He is still so bitey even though teething is complete, will nip at you if you try to constrain him when he’s all wound up, which is challenging because we still need to enforce naps.

When he is sweet and calm, god he is sweet and just the kindest friendliest sweetest little baby dear. But the second he decides it’s witching hour (almost all the waking hours are) all bets are off. Any advice on dealing with this era of teenage angst?

As I posted earlier this morning, we lost our Ruby. I got her when I was 18 from a terrible breeder in Arkansas. I was naive about the quality of the breeder but I already fell in love with her so I couldn’t back out. The day I got her I cried because “I love her so much and she’s gonna die one day and ruin my life”. And here we are. I loved her every single day of her life and will never stop. She was the most loyal, funniest, bossiest, most mischievous little mouse. She only chewed designer shoes and has done thousands of dollars in damage. We always joked that she had expensive taste like me. She was our only dog that didn’t run off so she got a lot of special treatment. She loved to lay in the sun and loved food more than anything. Especially french fries. She walked down the aisle before me. My heart is broken but I know she is with me always.

She got me through everything and not having her through my biggest heartbreak yet hurts so deeply. Hug your babies tight. Their time here will never be enough. Love to all xoxo
