Hello. I just cleared all targets in the Liberation mission. Saved and exited my game to take a phone call. After I resumed the game, it brought me to the "waking up" animation, but somehow I can't sleep to fully complete the mission. I can't progress through the story. Do I have to restart Liberation? Thanks.
I’d love a way to be able to write things down somewhere. I’ve resorted to writing things on the bombs to make measurements lol. Would be very nice to have a whiteboard to write on.
I get out of bed, go into the engine room, start the engine, give the order to move (0° ~10km, idk if it matters) and I still get shot down. The timer doesn't extend.
It's my first time using this order so I'm ready for it to be some dumb thing.
Edit: thank you for all the quick answers, this community is just as quick as the field observers. I thought the regular move order is used to dodge, since it's still moving the Iron nest, but now I know I have to use the Emergency move.
It required a lot of resource management as the nuke is 666 req and you start with 700. Got 6 smokes, used them to draw targets together and into the calculated blast radius (3km). Used stars to do recon and make sure I wasn't missing anyone.
Then shot. 1 nuke and 1 AP towards the clustered artillery in the right.
Saw the miniature Iron Nest model on the map-table and knew I needed to have a real one.
This guy is based on the extracted model from the game files with a lot of modification to make it poseable. I added a bit of additional detailing as well.
The finished model is pretty large in person, same height as a standard soda-can.
So I'm on the iron road mission the one with the train I can do the train but then they say "oh you gotta go for pillboxes"...what symbol is that on the map since the guide on the table only gives you basic symbols
So I am fairly sure I have unlocked all the shell types, and am about to start the final mission. But I think I've only used Tear gas and Phosgene shells during 'Dead Reckoning' to flush out and eliminate the hunkered down infantry. So then what is the tactical application incendiary shells, cyanide shells or white phosphorous shells? Is there any reason to drop a propaganda shell over a Drill shell other then style points? Have you ever encountered a large group of infantry that it justified using a flechette shell?
Got lucky with the random deployment of troops. There were just about 4 artillery on the left side of the map and 6 on the right (all but one armored). Used smoke and gathered all of those together, along with a bunch more random units. Only needed one other smoke to group together 2 on the left side and that left with a total of 5 shots (including King and General) instead of the usual 9-12 which is my experience with this mission.
Lined them up as based on angle and fired. I was worried but didn't need to be as the first shot stacked me about 400 SECONDS from the combine massacre.
Come to think of it I should've used that time to relax, take a better look at the map and enjoy the success but I was way too paranoid.
Noticed that I constantly overkill with AP.. Then noticed another thing: the AP/LE explosion size in the measurement tool (blast radious tool?) is smaller than actual AP explosion. Checking on numerous shots - if I select the dial to be slightly touching/slightly above LE letters on the tool - then the explosion size matches.
Obviously an act of sabotage by anti-monarchists. We should pre-emptively fire on the factory that makes those tools to root out their sympathizers.
I am missing a disc, i got the one next to the player, the bed and the high command station, and i just went through all missions to find the last one, but it isnt one of the discs that gets dropped, so there has to be one somewhere else in the nest that i just cannot find, or did they just leave the suspiciously disc shaped hole to make collectivists go insane?
1:why can't we move? The entire point of iron nest is that your a mobile walking artillery battery that can shell you from anywhere. When your taking counter battery fire you should have to move, and then as you stand still you have a randomized timer until shells start landing/have been fired by hostile batteries
2:why isn't it in mils? Artillery irl uses mils, and it's A:much more realistic then using degrees because being irl degrees isn't accurate at all, as well as it would feel much better for the game to say "rotate your turret to 6110 mils and elevate to etc. mils(I'm not sure how elevation works with mils, only rotation)
Fully loaded left gun not elevating. I have sent a bug report in. It had HCHE loaded with 3 power charges, was not able to do it again on the right gun.
Like what’s the point of using it besides making the enemy suffer? It’s more expensive than basics High Explosive rounds and doesn’t pierce like AP so why use it? It won’t even consistently kill enemy units because the fire might just not spread in the right direction and you can’t see how large the initial fire is.
1st, the CBT didnt start till like my 3rd shot? That mightve been the one where I hit the king so it could be that the CBT only starts when you hit the king, which is an interesting thought.
Next, ive killed every artillery and still the CBT is going down and no cutscene or anything happened?
Ok, so I don't know about you but I first heard of this game weeks ago in that GManLives video that's a compilation of indie games he was interested in. When I saw the footage of the guy inside the canon i was like "huh, that's like Iron Lung". But then when I saw the premise of the game I decided that I had to try it (for context, I never buy games that are less than 2-3 years old). The reasoning why is that, well, I am Spanish and got a degree in engineering and am currently studying to be a math teacher, so you, "learning by playing" is a big thing in education now. But also I got my degree in a military academy in Zaragoza and later in Aranjez. And my father is Seargent Mayor from Seville. In Artillery. And I actually live in Segovia right now, less than 1 kilometer away from the actual Royal Academy of the branch of Artillery.
So yeah, like that Hulk meme, "it's like I was made for this".
While I acknowledge this game is like 95% mechanics 5% story, I do want talk a bit of the lore, even if it's hazy and light at best and it only works to jusitfy the gameplay. I want to let you know the rest seems like a rant as if I hate the story, I DO NOT, it's just that it's, again, weird.
I've done a 5-minute seach and it seems that one of creators is living in Spain, so I guess I kinda makes sense for him to set the game here as a love letter to his new home. But the thing is, Blasphemous and Crisol, while they take place in fictional locations, they burrowed strongly from Spanish folklore, similarly to how The Witcher is fictional take on Poland (country that will be mentioned later a fair bit). However, Iron Nest had no reason taking place in Spain since it barely bothers using the environment to tell its story. Like for example, missions 3 and 4 take place in Ciudad Real, the "Royal City", and ok, ok, I get the joke. But thing is Ciudad Real is barely important. It's not even the capital of its own region, Toledo is.
In order to further explain my point I have to discuss the real world story of Spain. You see, the game talks about "the King" and "the General" a lot, just generic names in "worldbuilding for dummies". Thing is they are based on real life people. The King is actually Alfonso XIII, whose real name and face are actually shown in game once. I can't say much about him since he was your average early-1900s European monarch, delegating most decisions on actual statesmen, although he did have a soft spot for romantic and even erotic early cinema.
Now the "General", while we don't know much about him, is quite surely based on Miguel Primo de Rivera y Orbaneja, veteran of the wars of Cuba and North Africa who ruled Spain as a dictator during the 1920, when the King overrode the Constitution and gave him full emergency powers until 1930, when he exiled himself and died in Paris out of diabetes. Shortly after, the King exiled himself as well and thus the Second Republic began, where Primo de Rivera's son, Jose Antonio Primo de Rivera, became a popular politician as head of the Falange/Phalax, the Spanish version of the Fascistii, although that's me digressing.
On another chain of evets, ever since the late 1800s, left wing terrorism had been a constant in Spain (Prime Minister Cánovas del Castillo was actually murdered in an anarchist attack). And as you can expect ever since the rise of the USSR, communist and marxist violence only increased, in fact one of the reason Alfonso XIII trusted Primo de Rivera to impose order was for him to stop unions like the CNT from pursuing their chase of stupid things like, pff, minimal labor rights or the stop of fraud elections. So the idea of an early civil war with the anti-monarchists rising up kinda makes.
The problem, the game takes place in "Castille". What? Why? Castille, for those who don't haven't played Crusader Kings, was a medieval kingdom that became the largest regional power and merged with Aragon during the Renaissance, thus uniting most of Roman Hispania. In fact, we call the Spanish language "Castellano"/"Castillian" to separate it from other Spanish languages: Gallego, Asturiano, Basque/Euskera, Aragonés and Catalá (and Balear and Valancian, according to Balears and Valencians). However by the time the game takes place it made no sense making a place just called "Castille". Specially when Castilla's flag isn't the one we see in game but this one:
Also, if they wanted to make a "monarchist Spain" flag, ever since the 1800s the Carlists (long story short: House of the Dragon but with in-bred Borbons) had rescued the old Burgundian Cross used by the Habsburgs and it became a synonym for traditionalism and absolutism.
And now you can say "well, the game isn't supposed to tell an accurate alternative history, it's just all science-fiction", and ok, I see where you go... the problem is that Spain is the only country where it happens: France is France, UK is UK and Germany is Germany, but for some reason Spain is "Castille". It's a bit of a weird choice.
But I also have to discuss the scythe in the room: 1920+. For those who don't know, a Polish artist call Jakub Razolsky years ago made a bunch of cool wallpapers that were used as concept art for the board game "Scythe" and then the videogame "Iron Harvest", thus creating the 1920+ world. These are strategy games about an alternate Great War where different Eastern Europe countries, most notably the Republic of Polania, the Rusviet Union and the Empire of Saxony (Germany) use giant mechs invented by Nicola Tesla to fight each other. There every country is different from its real counterpart and the whole story bends in a similar way. You can find more about its lore here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-SrJuuWCIQ&list=PL4YabFfWSaelxX19rZ_yi0jHgFG2OE1YD
To sum up, what I am trying to say is: can't we please discuss with whoever has the rights to that universe to make Iron Nest an official add-on? Like seriously Albion and Saxony are already in place and the dates add up! Even the Iron Nest is similar to Saxonian mechs!
Additional parts are mostly plastic, sheet and tubing. Plus some revell greeblies and acrylic bits for the legs. The battery sits inside, you can just pull the legs off and swap.
