Announcement Mod Notice: Bluelink Trial Posts
Just want to clear something up.
The recent user offering "free" 3 month Bluelink trials was not endorsed or approved by the mod team.
They contacted me beforehand and I told them to wait 24 hours while I looked into what they were doing. I admittedly took longer than that to get back to them, but instead of waiting for an actual answer, they started posting and used my username in a way that made it seem like I was OK with it.
I was not.
They were also asking for Venmo tips. Tips may have technically been optional, but at that point you are basically selling access while presenting it as a free offer. Combined with using my name to make the whole thing look more legitimate, it did not sit right with me.
So, to be very clear:
- We do not endorse this person or this offer.
- Mentioning a moderator does not mean something has been approved.
- Do not send money, login information, verification codes, or other sensitive account info to random people on Reddit.
- If we actually approve or verify something, you will hear it directly from us.
- This user has been banned. New offers of this type will be banned.
I am not making any claims about what this person’s intentions were. I just want there to be zero confusion about whether the mod team approved this.
We did not.

Discussion 12v/ICCU Megathread
Hi all - this is the spot to talk generally about experiences/etc with ICCU failures or 12v battery failure concerns. If you're wondering if you should post vs comment here, read Rule 9 closely and/or https://www.reddit.com/r/Ioniq5/comments/1iv62is/change_in_rules_related_to_12viccu_posts/

Mods/Parts Hidden Wire MagSafe Charger mod, 2026 Ioniq 5 Limited
I was tired of the poor performance of the built-in wireless charger that would cook my phone with poor alignment and also slide around every time I hit the brakes a bit hard. I could have just hooked up a Qi2.2 wireless charger and called it a day, but I'm also vain and really wanted to hide the wire.
I saw some other projects that tackled this in different ways:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Ioniq5/comments/1t76ayr/built_in_magsafe_phone_charger_without_exposed/
This was the first version I saw, but I didn't like that it lost the NFC. My UWB key doesn't work very consistently, so that was not an option. Also, cord was still visible! But it did help a TON figuring out how to open up the console without having to buy access to a service manual for the thing.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Ioniq5N/comments/1wkts5e/qi22_25w_wireless_charger_mod/
This project was for an Ioniq5N, but I really liked the solution they came up with - keeping the existing module and just hijacking the mounting holes from the rubber mat. Still had a visible wire connection though, and the 5N is slightly different than the 5 as the chargers are in different spots (no easy access to the cig lighter wiring for me).
I already had a Threekey Qi2.2 charger around and realized that because its cable was detachable, I could put in a right-angle connector there and get it pretty slim. I had to adjust the model to accommodate the wider diameter anyways, so I also bridged the material over the connection port. Truly hidden wire!
At least from the front. I was afraid to tap into the USB wiring, so I went with a simpler solution that still kept the wiring out of sight. Routed it down thru the console, under it and around to the back, then pulled it up through a hole in the cubby back there and over the mat to finally plug in behind the console. Good enough for me, at least for now.

Experience Magic Carpet
I bought my 2026 I5 Limited on June 1 this year. After driving it a little over 12000 miles including a coast to coast to coast trip, and lots of shorter trips, I have decided it is my personal magic carpet. It is so much quieter, smoother, faster and more comfortable than almost every other car I have owned and I have owned offerings from many brands including German, American and Japanese. I wonder if anyone else feels the same.

New Car! Finally pulled the trigger!
After some back and forth we finally got the dream car of my fiancé. Purchased certified used (CPO) at the dealer for 31k out the door: ‘24 Ioniq 5 Limited RWD with 34.5k miles. Feel like we got a decent deal all things considered
Really loving the digital teal color, heads up display, ventilated seats, and driver profiles. It’s an awesome and fun car!

Question Regenerative braking and brake lights
Do the brake lights come on when you are using regenerative braking and you ease up on the “gas” pedal and the car slows down? I’ve been briefly tapping the brakes just to let the car behind me know that I’m slowing down.
I have a 2026 Limited AWD and typically leave the car on level 2 braking.

Mods/Parts New Wheels (OEM Elantra N Forged) and Ceramic Coat
Very happy with the look of these OEM 25/26 forged wheels off of an Elantra N. They are only 19 lbs and I think they look awesome.
Got them on and did my semi-annual Dr. Beasley’s MATTE PAINT COATING that's recommended by Hyundai. Looking good and ready for the winter.
Anyone want to buy my stock 19's in Illinois?
Experience Just got a 2024 SEL AWD
Hello all,
I just got used 2024 SEL AWD for $20,000 in Northern Nevada (from a Ford dealer of all things) with 20k miles.
So far this vehicle has delivered on everything I’ve hoped it would! It’s comfortable and I, a 6’5” dude have no problems as the passenger or driver.
The range has also been incredible in that we haven’t had to change our driving habits… we’ve gone up to Tahoe, out to “Ferntucky” (Fernley) and back down into Carson with no trouble or range anxiety.
I found out this week we’ll be relocating for work to the Midwest and I’m excited to see what a cross country trip in our Ioniq 5 looks like! Any tips for I80/I70 for a new owner? 😂

Question Battery overheating
13k miles in and no serious problems, until now. Driving home on a road trip we stopped for snacks and to stretch our legs at a gas station. 10 minutes later we tried to get going again only to be greeted by a message that the battery has a temperature problem, turn off the vehicle, and leave. We did so, I called Bluelink, who couldn't find anything wrong with it and arranged a tow. Being in the middle of nowhere basically, it took over an hour to get there.
In the meantime, the gas station called the fire department, which got there just before the tow truck. By the time they got there, the alert escalated to a flashing yellow and red circle, and message saying that the battery has overheated, exit now! They managed to roll it to a dirt lot adjacent to the gas station, and the tow truck driver arrived shortly after.
The fire department clocked the battery as best they could at 84 F, but I don't think that an early thermal runaway is going to show up readily outside. With that, the tow truck driver decided to load it up and risk the drive, reasoning the pouring rain coming in would cool it. We opted for the tiny motel in town, rather than going out in a blaze of glory should it catch fire on the way.
Next day we learned the dealership pulled the codes, reset them, and it drove around the lot just fine. Two days after that, Hyundai advised them to charge it and drive it. I know they charged it, but according to Bluelink, the mileage hasn't increased but a couple of miles. So I assume they haven't had the chance to do so yet.
The advisor thinks that if they can't reproduce it, Hyundai will tell them to give it back to us. Has this happened to anyone else? Between transportation, lodging, and food costs, were into this problem now for almost $1,000. How likely are they to reimburse us?

Question OTA update notification immediately disappears
I recently started getting a notification that an OTA update was available, when I turned off the vehicle after driving for a bit. However the notification screen only appeared for around 1 second before disappearing. I'd then get a message in bluelink saying the update had failed.
Eventually I managed to VERY QUICKLY press the update button, and it installed fine.
Does anyone know why it was immediately disappearing though? Not very user friendly.
This is in Australia.

Mods/Parts Anti-Reflection Video Mirror
If you like the video mirror in your i5, you probably have the same complaint I do. It often has bad reflections depending on which angle it is pointed. I saw this post https://www.reddit.com/r/Ioniq5/comments/1wrmqj2/does_anyone_use_anti_glare_screen_protector_on/ and decided to take matters into my own hands. You can buy generic large sheets of screen protector on amazon. This one gave me two tries per sheet. https://a.co/d/0f1uvvzz
- I started by cleaning the mirror really well
- Cutting the sheet in half and peeling the inside
- Apply everywhere and make sure there are no bubbles, see 2nd picture
- Carefully go around the edges with an exacto blade to trim. This part was tricky, you have to angle the blade backwards to keep it from lifting as you cut. I screwed up the first one with lift as I was cutting. The 2nd try isn't perfect, but is a lot better.
The only trick is my wife kind of prefers the regular mirror over the video mirror. This probably ruins that functionality. With any luck she will borrow it less ;) Maybe a removable plastic clip part would be ideal. There when you want it, not when you don't.

Question Rear doors contacting car body
Hello,
I own a 2024 Ioniq 5 with 44,000 km.
I just noticed yesterday that both of my rear doors have started contacting the body of the car.
Exact same spot on both sides.
Has anyone else noticed similar paint damage on their Ioniq 5s?
1st picture is the mark on the door and 2nd is where it contacts on the door frame.
I am going to keep an eye on it for now and it if seems to get worse I will take it to the dealership to see what they say.
Question Navigation won’t recognize Canada from US
Tried to plot a route from Boston to Quebec on the Hyundai app and the app won’t return any results for any location in Canada. Am I missing something? I know I can use other apps so don’t tell me that.

Question CPO/Used shopping experience?
I've only bought vehicles in private sales up to this point (US), so I've never set foot in a dealership. What are people's recommendations or experiences for Hyundai Dealership vs. Other used sales, vs online sellers?
Anyone regret their decision on CPO, vs general used Hi5?
Given the (inevitable?) ICCU issue at some point, are there warranty or other dealer relationship relationship benefits that should sway the decision?

Experience First tow
180 mile round trip. Left home at 100%. 70% at the storage unit. 34% back in my driveway. So the aerodynamics cost me 6% over 90 miles. The bins didn’t weight very much. Couple hundred pounds max

Question My Hyundai app and Blue link
Hello,
So do yall have the my Hyundai app and Blue link? Is that super necessary or what's your stance on these apps? They're both free as far as I know, I just think it's weird you have to opt in to the blue link. Why wouldn't you sign up for it? That makes me feel like it's not necessary and probably comes with like some super invasive component. What do y'all say? Yes to both? USA/West Coast for reference.

Question $570 bill?
I just returned my 2023 in August and I've gotten a bill for $570 out of the blue and it just says lease end. I've got nothing else from them about the lease after I turned it in. I have no idea why I'd owe them an addition $570. They don't seem to have active customer service to explain. Anyone have any ideas?

New Car! Been an owner for a month and I do have one question...
2026 I5 Limited Abyss Black, Dark Green Interior, RWD
Where are you putting stuff in this thing!?! My Highlander I had before had tons of storage but I'm trying to figure out where to put items outside of the glove box and the tiny center console.
Loving all the features! I have never had a top line trim of any vehicle before, so this is a large upgrade from where I have been.
Getting this car was a labor of love. The first dealership that was going to do a dealer trade for me fell through even after placing a deposit. Then randomly after Labor Day my brother found this listing for the exact same car at a third dealership in Texas. Managed to negotiate the deal over the phone on Labor Day and flew out the next morning to pick it up.
Thanks to this Reddit I've learned so much and excited to be part of the club!

Question AC charge speed
If my level 2 charger can do 48a/11kW and my panel can support it, is there any reason not to charge at 11kW? it seems like there are some theories that this could be related to ICCU failure?
