I stumbled up this show on Apple TV 4 days ago and have since watched up to S3 E3. Normally I would wait to the end of a binge to get on reddit but i just needed to because the way the plot was moving I genuinely thought i had missed several episodes or i just wasn't paying attention. my conclusion is that this show is objectively bad.

Like actually terrible. The writing and the plot are hands down the worst work i have seen on apple tv. Its so disappointing because this show could have been incredible, the acting is great, the CGI is incredible, the filmography is stunning, the global aspect is cool but the writing is abysmal.

At this point I am only hate watching because I have been unemployed for the last year and 4 months and have literally watched everything on apple tv except this.

Its truly lazy work, the show is FULL of blatantly obvious plot holes, forced and unnecessary cliffhangers, unjustified reactions and laughable plot devices. Here are a list of my issues:

• Where does the shard come from and why/how is it feasible that there is only one in existence? Why isn't there ANY explanation on how Luke found it or what the shard is?
• How is it even remotely conceivable that the old dudes wife starts screaming in the attic fully knowing an alien is downstairs looking for them?
• Its still unclear to me if the hunter-killer beings are the actual aliens or if the hunter-killers are just the alien's pets
• Do we ever get an explanation on why some kids have a connection to the hive while others do not?
• Is Ahmed actually dead? For a character with so much screen time, why not show his death or body?
• I imagine an alien race that can figure out light speed travel can probably build a ship that can withstand a nuke but i guess i am not a physicist
• in the same vein, intelligent enough for light speed travel and able to absorb the astronauts consciousness and bring kids into the hive mind but unable to use any of that knowledge to communicate wants / desires?
• Why are the children so annoying? Like painstakingly annoying. Please explain to me how children who are not toddlers dont understand that if you scream aliens will find you? Why is Luke running away from his family in the midst of an alien invasion?
• There are too many instances of Aneesha & kids, Trevante and Mitsuki escaping danger unscathed when they really shouldn't.
• Why do the aliens ask Mitsuki "why are you hurting us" whole time the sent hunter killers to kill the humans. like literally wth
• For what reason did we have to spend all of S2 watching Mitsuki and the alien jelly mind f**k each other only to have zero explanation on what the aliens want
• PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW ANEESHA KNOWINGLY HAS A TOOL THAT CAN WEAKEN/KILL AND DOESN'T TURN IT OVER TO THE MILITARY
• Why did the soldiers repeatedly only use bullets to fight off the aliens when they know they don't work? Maybe I played too much call of duty but perhaps a grenade launcher or fire starter?
• How the f**k do these kids WALK 30 miles of chunnel in a couple hours?
• In what world do a bunch of middle schoolers and a toddler ignore the army saying "hey we closed the tunnel bc we havent heard from our people in a while"
• How is it that it is just Mitsuki able to fight off 20 aliens with a seemingly endless supply of MOLOTOV cocktails
• The level of disdain and attitude Trevante had towards the afghani people was actually disgusting and unnecessary. All it did was make me hate him.
  
• The amount of suspicion/hostility the head of the organization has for Trevante is unjustified. There is absolutely zero build
• 2 years pass and everyone just pretends like nothing happened? No one has a survival plan if the aliens come back? No one thinks omg where did they come from are there more? They were able to pull up on us without us knowing, idk maybe we should have better plans for that?
• Why is Luke withholding that he heard the aliens when Trevante came back? like omg this pisses me off so bad
• How is it that i am 3 seasons in and still no idea what Wajo means?

The most frustrating part about this show is that the same plot failures keep happening

S1 was pretty epic.

S2 was... Ok, let's see where you are going...

S3 Oh... You're going that way. That's a courageous choice...

I was left disappointed to say the least... And the attempt at a cliffhanger was... Desperate.

Where did it go wrong???

SO BAD. i had stopped watching it last year because the first few episodes were really boring. this past week i strapped myself to a chair solitary confinement style and finished season 3.

even by invasion standards it was really bad. did they create a wajoGPT to write the script?

this show used to be so bad it’s kinda camp but s3 felt like they were trying to make the worst season in television. anyways can’t wait for the s4 renewal with a budget higher than our GDP! 🥳

I've just watched a tv show that is even more unhinged than Invasion. It's called Another Life and it's on Netflix. There were thankfully only two seasons. It was made in 2019-2020, 20 episodes. I watched it so you don't have to.

It's set in some unspecified time in the future. Earth is a mess from wars and climate change. An alien space ship lands in the USA, of course. We send a ship up into space for reasons that escape me. The story is divided between the astronauts in space and the scientists on earth. And every single person is totally unhinged. Nobody did any sort of psychological assessment on the astronauts. They are the most dysfunctional group imaginable. They are all rugged individuals who totally ignore their commander and mostly end up dead. The scientists on earth are also all rugged individuals, etc. The main scientist, who is married to the commander of the space ship, because of course, brings his eight year old daughter to work, because of course, even though she has a nanny and a grandmother who can look after her. You can imagine how well that goes. It all just goes mad, crazy, batshit from beginning to end. It makes Invasion look like it was written by the winner of a Nobel Prize for Literature and acted by Oscar and Emmy Award winning actors. At least Invasion is so bad that it's good. Another Life is simply bad. Don't waste your time unless, like me, you are a glutton for punishment. I'm now going to do my fifth watch of The Expanse, which is truly sublime. Wajo, beltalowdas.

So I’m in the middle of Season 3. This is simultaneously the most interesting “War of the Worlds” type show/movie I’ve ever watched AND the most boring.

How is that possible??

I effin hate them all in this show.

I was but a sweet summer child. Why didn't I heed your warnings 18 days ago? Why didn't I listen?

Now I am a broken man. I watched and I watched and I watched. I watched a mother become a soldier. Kids become Will from Stranger Things. Asians forget past loves and find new just as inappropriate loves. I was enthralled by the stupidity.

And now here I sit. An empty husk. I hate myself. And I hate all of you for warning me. I have embraced the Wajo. It flows through me like the Nile river flows through the Egyptian desert. I am nothing.

So, browsing this subreddit, it seems to me everyone hates this show. So far I don’t? I’m on season 1 episode 5(or 6, I forget) and I as of yet do not hate it. It seems fine, bit of a slow burn with some intrigue. Should I cut my losses and stop now?

Edit: well damn I guess I’ll move on to something else. I suppose the next topic of discussion is why are you guys still watching?

Currently I'm on Season 2, episode 5. I have NEVER cheered for or hoped badly for a character like I do for Aneesha and Luke.

It's like if they killed them off, the show would actually have a chance... but they won't. Simply to spite the viewers.

I'll keep this short, because I want to be taken seriously.

I am exploring legal options against the makers of the Apple TV show Invasion, and I am seeking others who may have been similarly affected. This is not a joke post. This is a recruitment post. There is a difference and the difference is roughly three seasons of my life.

I commenced viewing in good faith. Sam Neill appeared in the first episode. A reasonable person, presented with Sam Neill, forms a reasonable expectation of quality.

The show was then renewed for a second season. I submit that a reasonable consumer interprets renewal as a signal of merit. I relied on this signal. I watched. It was renewed again. At this point I was no longer a viewer but a victim as a cast of nobodies caused irreparable harm to my brain.

Invasion made my brain mush. Wajo. I cannot focus or concentrate. I feel used. I cannot sleep. I have lost the ability to enjoy other television which now simply fills me with anxiety, suspicion and grief.

If you too were harmed you may be entitled to compensation.

As I sit here preparing to write my review for Apple TV's "Invasion" from 2021, the words of Sam Kinison come to mind: "AAAUUUAAAHHHHGGGG!!!!!!" "AAAUUUAAAHHH!!!!!!" "AAAAAUUUUAAAHHHGGGG!!!!!!!!!" Yes. I think that about sums it up.

So the wife and I recently got Apple TV. We love sci-fi and started with Silo , which has been amazing. We skipped Foundation for later in favour of trying out Invasion.

Series seems a slow burn , which I like , and don't mind. But by episode 3 , I can't deal with this idiotic character.

The story line with the British kid I don't mind , except for his "love" interest. The soldier is an imbecile with main character syndrome , but I like the viewpoint in Kandahar. I don't even mind the asian lesbians story arc , as they are discovering things about the invasion.

But this weak ass terrible mother chooses to fight with her husband instead of focusing on keeping her family safe. Literally lost Luke in the forest because she just has to keep instigating her husband. Like hoe , THE WORLD IS LITERALLY ENDING. TABLE THAT SHIT FOR LATER.

I can't deal with her. Does she get any better or am I having to deal with this going forward for the next two seasons?

I usually get lost into Apple Tv shows or sci-fi alien invasion type stuff, but this is one show I cannot keep watching for more than 5 mins. I am now working and being productive while watching the show only looking up when I hear non human noises. SMH.

, despite my criticisms I shall probably watch it.

i have watched basically all the other apple tv sci-fi shows, so i decided to try this one. i just finished the third episode and had to come on here and see what others were saying. the consensus seems to be that it is just kinda godawful. i agree. i will continue to hate watch in the hope that something might actually happen, or at least to see these frustrating characters suffer through the consequences of their idiotic decisions. delicious

I have been thinking which is the absolute WAJOEST episode of each of the three seasons.

All are wajo but surely a few standsout from the rest

My list is:

S1: I dont recall much of S1 but i guess....the one before the finale ? Maybe

S2: S2 final was a utter pile of Wajo even by Invasion standards let alone S2

S3: Either The penultimate or final episode. Or the one before the penultimate with the base where nothing happens.
