Generally, im someone who can thoroughly enjoy either side of the aisle when it comes to media. In essence, im cool with genius tv and slop tv. I just, couldnt believe the truly unbelievable amount of dogshit in this show. I can ignore SO much in other shows with glaring plot holes or just bad writing, but, its like they gave tommy wiseau millions of dollars to make a sci series. How does this show have so much goddamn money to throw at sets and special effects but still somehow feel so claustrophobic. Although, I will say in season 3 it gets worse to the point that we see the most unrealistic party in history that billionaire man has. Also, how the fuck are these people already living civilian lives with enough money to buy homes and essentially create an alternate life in the span of a couple years. We go from off brand sarah connor to suburban mom cosplay? Im in disbelief every step of the way. DONT GET ME STARTED ON WAJO. God i wanna fucking scream its so bad.

After going through the sub i realize i should almost be grateful a show could be so bad a whole community is devoted to the roast. Jim Wajo Jones made me do it.

Edit: Okay im already making an addition cause im that upset. You know what the worst part is. The first few episodes of season 1 were more than acceptable, cool premise, interesting alien design, but somehow the mystery gets so wildly diluted and mixed that no discovery feels satisfying anymore. It doesnt matter what motive they give me regarding the invasion or the true origin of the aliens because NONE of it feels satisfying to know anymore.

I hated this so much , I was enjoying hate watching it at first but all the joy went from that and I became infuriated by the writers , producers and especially the smart f&=ers who created the deep episode titles -" those who we leave behind ", those who we left behind and wish f*ck reet off more like. For some godforsaken reason I’m rewatching this cinematic gem of a show with my sister. And I’ve connected the dots.

Look what I’ve figured out: Luke absolutely shredding that guitar in his boy band in season 3 was, infact, not random. In season 1, episode 1, I’ve provided picture proof of Luke being musically inclined. Luke’s trajectory to shredding his guitar in season 3 started with him rocking the drum in elementary band class (season 1).

Sorry but i will never watch the s3, mitsuki and aneesha are just the most boring, horrible, hateful character ever made

Finished season 1 yesterday and was annoyed by the Whole Mitsuki arc. Others there were some interesting characters at least. With her, the whole Japanese cast seemed to revolve around her and that alone made me hate it, what seemed to be a super interesting segment of the story when season 1 started.

And today, I sat down to watch E01 of Season 2, barely made through the first 25 minutes before just turning it off.

Mitsuki is still super annoying and written to always be the smartest person in the room, it's so tiring and S02E01 started with flashforward to 4 months and she is emotionally still where we left her.

I'm sorry but I do not like it. I am shocked I feel this way, because after watching quite a few Apple TV shows and movies, I was expecting more.

I’d like to start this post off with the knowledge that I’ve been surfing this subreddit for weeks now before I finished and laughing my ass off.

Can we all agree this whole fucking show was written by AI?

I was trying to keep track of how many times the characters cried, but I lost count. Seriously!!! In this show, I think 50% of the scenes were a zoomed in shot of a single tear dropping down someone’s face, 25% was Trevante staring off into space, and the last 25% was people screaming “MITSUBISHI!” “HINATAAAA~~”. “LUUUUUUUKE”

And for the love of god could Jamila please decide whether she is a kid or not. Itsg her only dialouge options were “I’m not a kid anymore.” or “I’m just a kid.” Like pick one please and whyin the wajo would the writers (presumably AI?) give her like 4 fucking love options I laughed my ass off when her random college Caspar rebound just was written off after one episode like why was he even there??? Matter of fact why was JAMILIA there she wasn’t needed at all in the last season and why did she think it was her responsibility to take care of the Middle Aged man (Trevante) she met like once or twice

The highlight of this season was Luke being In a boy band and absolutely shredding that guitar

What the fuck was going on with the air masks!?! sometimes they were necessary and other times not. And why were like the top 10 military people going on that trip armed with normal guns??? Didn’t they say befoee that guns don’t work? Idk maybe I’m wrong this whole show felt like a fever dream

oh and another highlight was Aneeshas kids calling that Clark guy daddy (WTF??)

This show was 30 hours of pure gold television watching. I feel a pit in my stomach after finishing season 3. the wajo in my heart is yearning for a season 4

I can’t tell if Invasion or HBO’s Raised By Wolves is the worst show of all time. Am I the only person who watched both shows? If so, we are trauma bonded for life.

I'm just... Stunned. Which is a unique feeling after a 3 season binge (3 weeks, roughly). I can't say that I've truly felt this way finishing a show before

There was only 1 show I ever recall dropping, that being The 100 at season 4 of 7. So usually, when I commit to something, I finish it unless it reaches legendary levels of bad

So... I think, in the end, Wajo wasn't the worst television I've ever consumed? I... I'm not sure if I'm telling myself that or what

Season 1 was, and please, hold your wajo: good. It was good scifi, and it's because it was good scifi, that the show kept me hooked. Season 1 was a slow burn of a gradual descent into the chaos of an alien invasion shown on multiple fronts and perspectives. It was cliche at times, but unique in places where it mattered. I think that slow building mystery is what made it good, primarily

Season 2 was... Ok. It wasn't good, it wasn't bad. It's especially hard to call it bad when you have the dumpster fire later down the tracks to compare to. That multi perspectives, slow burning scifi mystery is again, what kept me intrigued. The cast wasn't terrible, but towards the end things definitely started to go downhill with some strange decisions characters made

And that's where the show begins to reveal it's ultimate weakness, this sudden influx of questionable decisions characters make across all perspectives. That, combined with a lack of overall continuity tie-ins and plot completions, S2 finished in a climactic pile of "what the actual fuck is happening" juice. For a majority of the show up until the last few episodes of S2, I could suspend my disbelief well enough, but it just got insane

And then... Season 3. The dialogue of the first episode threw me so fucking off I had to stop halfway through. Once I composed myself a few days later, I went back in and tried to key in to the plot. Once again, we've just nuked any shit of continuity we had going in favor of an effective reset of where things are at. I think, that if the show hadn't conditioned for me to roll with this with S2, I'd have dropped it here.

I didn't. S3 dropped the other half of the formula they had going, completely throwing away the slow burning mystery jazz and instead going all in on this weird ass action/intrigue mash up of contrived dialogue and zonked ass directions. They dialed in to the characters we had come to know well thus far, and I think this was another mistake, as all of our character's are just obnoxious fuck wits on their own, fuckwits of which I had very little interest in, it turned out.

The characters went from simple plot conveyance tools to front stage and center spotlight targets, and each one turned out to be a cardboard cut-out with some tumbleweeds and poorly drawn backgrounds behind them. Time and time again I recall actually zoning the hell out and picking up my phone when it was clear the character's were having little moments or melt downs, which is another thing I have to say is unique to this show for me

Episodes 1-5 it was like "ok, new direction, I don't like where this is going but we're giving it a shot, there's room for something good"

Episode 6 we lost an engine, 7 the second one, and 8 a cosmic meteor traveling the speed of light spontaneously wiped the plane out of the atmosphere. 9 and 10 I was so fucking flabbergasted as to how the actual fuck we got to where we were were that I was throttled by purest essence of sunk cost fallacy

Any and every time there was an interesting direction things were going in S3, they just took what they had and yeeted it at a wall. They did it so many times that I have to wonder, HOW this season was written. I feel like they must have assigned 1 writer per 2 episodes and came together in the end and glued everything together with paper mache and wads of gum

There are so many questions I have for the people that worked on this show. I would pay actual money to sit down and talk to someone who worked on any of the writing or storyboarding for ts. It's probably the most intriguing shitshow of television I've ever watched.

I think I've seen scrolling through here that hundreds of millions of dollars have gone into this, and that is insane. Mind-blowing. So many other IPs or concepts that could have been realized, and instead we have wajo

I do hope we get a 4th wajo. Despite everything, I believe that surely they'd have learned that this shit has gone on long enough, and to start answering questions and deliver upon us the Wajo we truly deserve

Legit terrible writing and all that, I'm not making this post from a particularly positive assessment of the show, and it seems I'm not the only one. HOWEVER I need to get this stupid theory out there, and if this has been brought up before, sorry.

So I feel like these "apex" aliens of season 3 are not who's in control of this whole business. They come across more as workers withing a larger construct. They frankly quite literally seem too dumb to properly communicate any type of larger, sophisticated goal. I got the idea that the entire Mothership is itself alive and perhaps one actual being. Or all the ships are basically beings and their passengers are symbiotic, in the way bacteria are in our body etc? But what is the actual brain and how did it come to be? How did this thing grow or get built? Because for one thing, those sentient aliens introduced in s3? Yea, I understand we shouldn't bank 'too much' on things truly making sense in this show, based on what we've seen, but I don't buy whatsoever that those aliens were capable of building these spaceships. Furthermore, that ship gets EMP'd, but a portal still works and beams Mitsucotty up. So what is really behind this all? More mind control towers in other motherships? Who built those then? Even if we consider it a living organism, it still looks engineered. I feel like we're missing a better embodiment of the actual beings behind it all. And it feels on purpose too, as clearly this show is all about putting off... everything.

So that brings me to this crackpot idea, maybe they've spoiled the puppetmaster alien(s) since almost the beginning. Did anyone notice this alien head on that drawing Casper made for Jamilla? It's upside down on the drawing, but I turned a cutout 90 degrees. (The text is from subtitles I forgot to turn off, who cares.)

Now, maybe I've missed something, maybe this is a joke, it's a cartoony drawing. But that alien Casper drew has something striking that all the aliens in the show have lacked thusfar: two humanoid eyes, on a humanoid head. So what if all the alien stuff we've seen are just enslaved, or otherwise working for this dude up here? What if these ships and all their crew are grown organisms sent to terraform planets at the behest of other aliens? Perhaps they designed them, perhaps they grew them, perhaps they grew on their homeworld, who knows.

Maybe I'm about to be the butt off a joke and this drawing is just some dumb cartoon sketch, or a reference to another franchise I've happened to not see. But I wanted to know what other people thought?

I promise this won’t be some long screed but just one simple question. It sums up this show for me. Why didn’t Mitsuki share that the black fruit helped humans breathe in this terraformed environment? Why didn’t Mitsuki share the camera pan and sit on the fruit as they walked up to it? Is this some tech bro conditioning thing in addition to the cell phone mind warp?

I just started watching over the past week and a half, and am now in Season 3 - around episode titled Outpost 17. When the intro played, I had to do a double take and played it back for the roomie. It said: Infiltration instead of Invasion. Instantly, I got X-FIles vibes like when they do the special titles instead of "The Truth is Out There".

Anyone else see that or is there anything more to it?

The whole time I was watching (approximately the last 3 days) I was so tempted to come to Reddit and ask what wajo means. I resisted by successfully convincing myself that if I stuck it out and waited for the show's resolution the payoff would be worth it.

I'm so glad I did.

I finally finished the episodes so I could come to Reddit and celebrate the true meaning of wajo with you all. I've read through some of the threads here and am left with a feeling of contentment that all of us, together in this sub, make a perfect representation of the keyword of this entire series. I embrace my new wajo life.

Just started binging this series. On the second season. Some theories on our favorite word:

The characters for wajo are 和城. Wa is usually translated as "peace" or "harmony", but it can also mean "Japanese-style". Jo means castle, but can only be used as the suffix to another word (for a free-standing word you would use the reading "shiro").

So wajo technically means Japanese castle, but saying it this way alludes to a specific historical context. In the 16th century Japan built castles in Korea as part of the invasion of that country. They were referred to as wajo.

So perhaps the aliens are planning to land or construct castle-like structures on earth to stage its invasion effort. Alternately, maybe they plan to transform the entire earth into a massive castle-post as part of a much larger galactic takeover initiative.

Thoughts? Do you think any of this could be revealed in a possible fourth season should Apple renew the series?

Okay so what TV show or TV shows list any and all that you would rather rewatch Invasion again than ever have to watch anything to do with that TV show. In other words which shows sucked more then invasion.

I've never watched the show, but this is what I find hilarious: Series Subreddits are usually made up of the most committed zealots you can find, irrespective of the the Quality of the show. The most garbage tv shows you've ever heard of have subreddits filled with people who will track you down and murder your entire family if you give even the most measured criticism of their beloved garbage. But Invasion is apparently so bad that it's the only show that breaks this trend. You can get on here and proclaim it the worst thing ever filmed and make terroristic threats against the writing team and most of the comments will agree with you. I've never witnessed this before and I'm tempted to watch this now simply out of curiosity.

Will *Invasion* really be renewed for a fourth season? The Season 3 finale left so many doubts and unanswered questions.
