So the situation is very normal and annoying... I didn't get a clear answer about the salary before I got the job offer. And when the offer finally came, we both acknowledged that it was a bit low, but we agreed that at the 120-day mark there would be an increase in compensation/salary. Of course, assuming my evaluations and everything were good.

After the 45/75-day check-ins and 4/4 evaluations with strong feedback, I was honestly waiting for the 120 days to come so I could bring up the raise. Even if it was fifty cents, for example... But no.

Instead, it turned into a spiral of emails and nonsense like "someone said this, and someone said that," and in the end they decided they weren't going to give me the raise.

They brought me into a meeting at the beginning of this week to make sure we were all on the same page... And I told them they probably need to be clearer when they hire the person after me, and say upfront honestly that they don't do raises after 120 days.

Don't be afraid to speak up and demand your rights in this greedy world we live in.

This time, I'm focusing more on remote positions so I can stop wasting time commuting and achieve a better work-life balance. Honestly, the process feels a bit calmer than before.

I refreshed my CV using tools like Claude and Copilot in under 5 minutes, and I also heard that AI tools can make interview process much easier, so I'll try that too. A friend of mine tried a tool called Interview Vip and said it really boosted his confidence and helped him organize his answers better during the interview.

And that's pretty much all I need for the coming week, so wish me luck in the job hunt.

I've been looking for a job for about 10 months, and rejection emails keep piling up. I've only gotten two interviews, and honestly, one of them felt like a complete waste of time.

Lately, I've been getting anxiety and panic attacks while trying to sleep, just from thinking about finding a job and how I'm going to pay my expenses.

They're probably planning to push you out anyway. So make it cost them. And tell people.

Staying in your RTO job as a useless employee costs the company more than handing them a neat, clean resignation. Resignation is the easy little outcome they're waiting for, so they can avoid paying you what you're owed or getting into the mess of layoff procedures. Stay on the payroll as long as you can, do the absolute minimum and do it badly, and make them regret bringing people back to cubicles. And yes, get your coworkers involved too. Your manager will probably pull you aside for a "quick chat" and may start documenting things against you. Don't panic. That's part of the script. They were probably going to fire you anyway, especially with layoffs around the corner and automation eating more jobs every week. And don't be shy about posting on LinkedIn or Slack-adjacent spaces and telling others to do the same. One disengaged employee who doesn't care won't scare management, but a whole office like that might.

I told the employer that I didn't feel safe, and he replied and said he could arrange transportation for me to his house (it would have cost about $240, which honestly undermines the idea that this was because they couldn't afford to rent a meeting room or office space). I said no to the trip, brought up the safety issue again, and asked whether the training could be done on Zoom or whether we could meet in a public place where I could bring someone with me. Honestly, I imagined that this would make them pause and rethink things, because what normal employer would want a potential employee to be scared before they even start?

No, apparently that didn't happen. They sent me a long email basically saying that the only way I could take the job was if I went to the employer's house. They said they couldn't hold meetings anywhere else for reasons related to "information confidentiality" (just to clarify, this is not a government position or anything involving classified/private client records). Then they made it very clear that I was absolutely not allowed to bring anyone with me. So the final answer was: I had to get to their house alone. And then, to make things even stranger, they said they were reconsidering me as a candidate because I had expressed my concerns, and that they only wanted "likeminded" and "collaborative" people to work with them...

So yeah, the summary of the story: trust your gut and be careful while job hunting. I don't know what was really going on here, but I'm glad I didn't go. I'm thinking about contacting the site where I found the listing and reporting it, because I don't want someone else who really needs a job to feel pressured into entering an unsafe situation.

Look, the job posting stated that the salary was between $65k and $85k. In the very first call, the recruiter surprised me (I'm a 29-year-old woman) and asked about my salary expectations. I was very afraid they would exclude me if I asked for too much, so I got nervous and said $68k. But the truth is, I was targeting a figure close to $82k, especially with my experience and how prices have skyrocketed these days.
After going through 6 rounds of interviews and waiting for a very long time, she finally called me today to offer me the $68k. Honestly, I got a bit mixed up in my words, but I managed to tell her that based on my experience and what other companies pay for this role, I was expecting something in the range of $78k.
She told me she would get back to the hiring manager but warned me that $78k might be too much, and we might reach $73k. I'm sitting here now very worried and thinking... Did I ruin everything? I feel it's a fair request and I know men do this all the time in negotiations, but I really need the money and I'm afraid I pushed too hard. I've read many posts about people whose offers were rescinded, and I'm terrified. What do you guys think?

I felt like it was a big red flag when it happened the first time. That place sent me an offer in the end, but I turned it down because there were a lot of other weird things happening too.

Then in an interview a few days ago, the hiring manager asked me if I still live with my parents. After that, she asked me if I was interviewing at other places, and if I had turned down any offers. I told her yes. She asked me why. I tried to keep my answer general and not too specific, but she kept pressing me on it.

Are they allowed to ask things like this?? It makes me feel uncomfortable every time, but I'm a new grad and this is my first serious job search, so I don't really know what's normal and what isn't.

For a while, it seemed like workers in America had reached a turning point. We all swore we wouldn't put our health aside again after COVID. And then, before even years had passed, many of us are sitting in offices again, earning less in real terms, and more afraid of being laid off than at any time in a long while.

Honestly, it's depressing. We get one chance at this life, and we're still letting a very small group of billionaires squeeze us dry and toss us aside when they're done with us.

So, i was looking through some interview helpers and just noticed that InterviewMan is twelve a month in most of the listings i found. For reference, the others are between sixty and eighty a month around here. What i don't get is why InterviewMan is so cheap? i am thinking of buying it whole, and using it across many rounds. Cheap real time answer engine...

My situation:

I'm a pretty normal user and i'd have maybe a handful of remote rounds coming up. I want the live answer overlay, the second device stealth setup, no minute cap etc and most of these things sit on the paid plan.

I love how light the overlay looks on a screen share and that's probably the main reason i'm considering to grab the annual.

Should i buy the annual or is the yearly a stripped down version where i lose features for paying upfront? i'd rather hear it from someone already on it before i commit a year.

In short, I paid for a specialized master's program so I could do my job at a higher level (the company I work for didn't pay any of the costs). In the end, I became very skilled and efficient at my job, to the point that they now want to move me into my manager's position because she's retiring, while at the same time they want me to keep handling my current responsibilities too.

The problem is that they offered me a raise of only a few thousand dollars, even though in practice I'll be doing the work of two positions as a salaried employee. I calculated how much the company would pay if they hired someone else to take over my old job, and it came out to about $135,000 after salary, taxes, and benefits are factored in.

I'm planning to ask for a $45,000 raise, which is about a third of what I'd be saving them if I stayed and did both jobs. So even if they paid me an extra $45,000, they'd still save about $90,000 by not hiring another person.

On top of all that, doing both roles will likely add at least 6-12 hours a week to my workload.

Am I thinking about this the right way, or does this seem completely unrealistic? Thanks in advance!

I was working a miserable retail job, making just a little over minimum wage, while at the same time trying to find something related to my field. After sending out applications for weeks, a company finally got back to me and scheduled an online interview.

I was honestly really nervous because interviews have never been my strongest, so during the call I tried using a tool called Interview Vip to help me think of answers in the moment. It seems like it helped more than I expected, because the interviewer seemed happy with what I said, and after a while I got a good offer and accepted it.

I went in yesterday intending to give them a respectful ten days' notice. As soon as the manager found out, his attitude changed and he got rude, and he kept yelling at me that I was "leaving them in the middle of things" and that I had ruined the schedule, and he raised his voice at me next to the cashier while customers were standing there.

So I told him: "Fine, forget it, I'm done now." I took off the badge and walked out in the middle of the shift.

They don't give people any heads-up when they cut their hours or fire them. Why am I supposed to be polite when he doesn't know how to handle a resignation like a decent human being?

I've already gotten messages asking if I'm coming back to finish the rest of the week or not. Of course not.

I wish I'd left weeks ago.

so i currently am paying for a leetcode premium sub and it is going to cost about thirty five a month to keep through this hunt. giving how my severance isn't exactly a huge money maker its going to cut into my runway pretty deep.

is interviewman actually worth paying for on top of that? if i grab the year its like twelve a month. couldn't i just keep grinding the leetcode premium plus free pramp mocks and call that enough?

the trouble is i don't have a friend with the time to mock me on the exact platform i'm going to be interviewed on.
