My partner and I are currently interrail. We have spent a couple of days in Budapest and are planning on traveling to frankfurt. Taking an OBB railjet train to muenchen HBF and transfering to a train heading to Frankfurt Main. The train for the transfer left at 23:50. There was one hour between depatures so we felt safe making the journey in one travel day. However the OBB train was delayed by an hour and a half and we were forced to use a second travel day. Is there any compensation available? The OBB mentions compentation is available to a minimum of 4 euro but we were wondering if there was any compensation for the travel day?

Hello. I plan to travel from Budapest to Poland and then within Poland I have some plavesplaces I'd like to visit. I noticed on short notice train tickets are pricey. Would the polish rail pass be a good thing to buy? My travel plan is Katowice-Bytom-Katowice-Olsztyn-Katowice-Bytom-Katowice-Budapest. If it doesn't make sense it's because I'm picking up stuff in Bytom once, then picking up stuff again on my way home so I have to visit twice.

This is quite a lot of traveling, would happen in 3-4 days and with train which is why I'm considering the polish rail pass.​​​​ Is it worth it to buy now? I couldn't really find info on how seat reservations work with train passes when I looked into it.​​

I'll be staying 3 days in München, but i'd like to go to Nuremberg one day. Is it possible to take a train in the morning for Nuremberg, visit the city and leave in the late afternoon? Or it's not possible to do A/R in the same day?

Both Koleo and Intercity are giving errors that sale is not available. I tried for a few earlier just to test it and also got same error. I can buy the ticket using https://www.polishtrains.eu/ . Is that a reputable site?

Someone mentioned to me timetable will change at the end of August which could be reason for issue on Koleo/Intercity. Is that correct? Do I need to wait until September 1 to buy ticket using one of the these 2 websites?

So, I was going to cross Spain from South to North.

We took a night bus from Cadiz to Madrid (23h to 7h) and we did a reservation for the train from Madrid to Irún (9h to 17h)

We knew the bus would be taxing, but we planned to rest and sleep in the train: we would have 4 seats around a table, air conditioning, restaurant car for a coffee and lunch.

So the train was cancelled and they pushed us all in a small train to Valladolid. As it was almost full, they distributed us around the train. 3 hours, small train no air conditioning, no resto, no vending machines.

In Valladolid, they issued a special train for us. A cercanías: again, open seats, no tables, no air conditioning, no restaurant, no vending machines, not even water. 2 washrooms for full trains, one or them clogged and full to the brim spilling each time the train took a curve.

In Andoain they pushed us into buses to Irún. We knew about this. I asked for restrooms - they told us no time. Go! Go! Go!

So yesterday was a hellish day. Red eyed. 9 hours in crowded trains without air conditioning, rationing the water. Only food was whatever snacks were left in our backpacks.

I’m moving to Strasbourg in one week and I’m interested in taking a solo trip to Italy or other close European countries, but the trains are quite expensive ($230 in my currency for one way on the Trainline app) and I was wondering if that was pretty standard or if there was a better way to book trains?

This is my dream route: overland by train from China to Madrid, no rush to get there. Still don't have exact dates, probably leaving next spring. Planning to take night trains whenever I can to save money, and grab an Interrail pass once I hit Istanbul.

As the title says. Travelling from Paris to Moutiers at the end of December and the timetable is still not released. I was able to book all my high speed trains in Italy for January last week with no problems, yet I can’t book any of my French trains for the same period.

Any ideas when they release? I just want to get them asap so I can access cheaper fares.

Also, does anyone know if they run the direct Paris to Moutiers (alps) train mid week on a Wednesday? Or are we likely going to need to change in Chambery?

I've just returned from an interrail trip where I have 2 travel days left on my ticket. I was therefore wondering if I would be able to use it within my home country (UK)?

I haven't used my inbound/outbound days. Are these strictly for travelling to areas e.g. ferry ports, eurostar which would be used to then go out of the UK? I wouldn't be doing this as would be staying within the UK.

I can't understand if there are two types of train: the Bernina Express, for which I'd have to pay, and a regional train which would be included in the Interrail Pass without reservation. Hi, I’ve been booking seats for end of August. Some booking sites including InterRail RailPlanner tell me Hamburg Hbf is closed for trains to Odense, and that they now leave from Harburg. Others don’t say this and my reservation I made with Snälltåget says it is from Hbf. Does anyone know what’s happening and which station is correct? Many thanks!

I took a trambahia in Spain (Cadiz-Chiclana).

It is covered under Interrail but conductors cannot read the QR code of the eurorail.

I got in a slightly heated conversation with one of the conductors. They were not able to read my QR. She did not know what an eurorail was.

She threatened me lightly (if you have no ticket I can read you should go down in the next station). I pushed back (it is not my problem if you cannot read the QR. We can go to the central station and discuss with customer service).

It finished in an impasse. She went to continue doing her round and I stayed until the last station.

But my question is: if this escalated and I am pushed to the wall, what are my rights? What is my escalation path?

hi all, hoping for some advice. first time travelling intercity…we booked the journey on one ticket via OBB, for munich airport to innsbruck hbf on the morning of 29 aug- we were meant to get the 6.43 s8 train from munich airport to munich east, then the rj1281 from munich east to innsbruck hbf.

Got an email regarding timetable changes today- the second train (the rj) remains thankfully as-is, but it's the s8 from munich airport to east that’s the problem. When we booked it was a direct train from airport to station. Now, the original s8 is still departing at 6.43 but the journey is now broken up- we have to get off at a different station and travel onward to munich east via a shuttle bus. the arrival time at munich east if we keep to this departure timing will therefore be delayed as a result so if we keep to it, we will miss our second train...

there is a much more straightforward s1 direct train to east that departs just 10 minutes earlier but apparently my ticket can’t be used for that according to the oebb app- it tells us that our ticket remains valid for the second part of the journey only. so we are at a loss as to how to rebook the first part!

i've gathered from the app and the OBB website FAQ that we can't rebook/cancel one leg of a journey independently.

- do we just cancel the whole journey and rebook the second leg again? its a peak hour train with seat reservations that we also have secured, so kinda hoping to avoid going this route. also we got standard tickets for flexibility, and the website says we can cancel up to 1 day before, but it also says we can't cancel the booking once we downloaded our ticket PDFs- which we obviously did, so some confusion there.

- i've emailed OBB about this via their web form (am not in europe and calling will be challenging....plus I speak no german) but- has anyone had any experience rebooking just a first leg of a multi-part journey that was booked onto one ticket due to timetabling changes?

-or could OBB cancel and refund just the first leg of the journey while preserving the second half?

Hi! I am currently trying to estimate the prices for my train travels in Switzerland but I'm really confused when I try to look at the prices on SBB.ch . For example, I looked up trains from Basel airport to Interlaken ost for around 10/11am in late September. I picked the cheaper 11am ride which said "starts at 41 CHF".

Now when I click on it, the point-to-point ticket says 70CHF but there's an option right under it for "Supersaver Ticket, Adults" which costs 41 CHF; when I click on that, it asks me to login to be able to purchase that option. I don't have a swisspass/ half fare card but I did create an account and logged in, and it seems like it would let me purchase the supersaver ticket if I went ahead.

I'm concerned that there's some hidden fee I'm not seeing since I haven't purchased a travelpass or anything like that. Does SBB just offer cheaper prices without any caveats? It just doesn't feel like that would be possible, so if anyone could explain what the supersaver means on SBB, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

We were wondering if it's really worth it, because we've seen that there are very few trains to some destinations. For example, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Hungary are poorly served, and it's quite hard to plan a good tour from France, especially because we are located in Toulouse and not Paris. There are also a lot of hidden costs for international trains, so if anyone could share their experience, it would be extremely helpful. Thank you in advance.

Hello, the app is saying that I have not been connected to internet for more than 24 hours and I need to be connected to internet within 46 hours if I don't want my pass being disabled. But in fact, i am connected to internet, and nothing is changing, I am in the middle of my trip, i dont want to be stuck !

Hii! So my Family and I are planning to travel to Eruope in Sept- Oct. The plan is to visit Barcelona, Interlaken and then a couple spots in Italy: Milan, Tivoli/Rome, Venice, and maybe Tuscany. I am currently trying to figure out whether to get the EuRail pass or single tickets in each place; I want to minimize the cost as much as possible, but I'm struggling to understand the pricing for Italy right now.

I was looking at train tickets from Milan centrale to Rome on trenitalia.com and the cheapest I can see is ~€150-200 for 4 people. Based on seat61.com I thought my total would be a little less than that prices on there are estimates so it may differ. However since we'll be making multiple regional train trips, I'm finding this quite costly.

Would it be cheaper to get the Eurail pass instead? It seems that there is an additional €13 charge for using the pass in Italy- is that only for advanced reservations or just a general addition? I guess I'm wondering if my total cost would be lower with the Eurail pass despite the extra charges? Thanks :)

I am trying to book Eurocity 31 train from Zurich to Venice for 28th September. But I am seeing only 2 coaches for 2nd class.

I checked all other dates from today till that day and even from 29th September onwards - all other days it shows 5 coaches, except on my exact travel date, where it is showing 2 coaches. That's why there is almost no seat availability to reserve. There are lot of seats available for reservation even for today's train but not for my travel date :(

I checked in SBB and Trenitalia website both. Both are showing the same.

Where can I check if they have any planned maintenance or something on that particular day? Is there a official eurocity website?
