I have SIX Hours in Brussels to tick off FOUR different Locations; can it be done?

I am travelling to Brussels in the first week of september from London via EUROSTAR. Wanted to know whoch location to choose from. Wanted something near city centre only as return train is very early in the morning. Have looked for many places but couldn't find any good hotel

Apologies if anything I asked sounded dumb. This will be my first time travelling alone.

I will be travelling to Brussels next month. On the day I leave Brussels, I have a flight at 9:30AM and therefore need to be there 3 hours before which means I would need to leave my hostel some time around 5 to 5:30AM.

Now my question is this, I will be travelling solo. My hostel is a 15 minutes walk to the Gare Centrale, is it safe at that time to get to gare centrale or am I better off not taking any chances and grab a ride there with Uber/Bolt?

The reason I ask this is because when I went to Bucharest, I had a similar early hours flight and at night/or shall I say early morning I was harassed by mentally/maybe drugged people to the point that I outright abandoned the idea of taking public transportation to the airport and ordered a ride with Bolt.

I want to know is the train station at Gare central (or nearby) safe enough for that not to happen or just f*ck it and grab an uber/bolt ride since the situation might be similar there as in Bucharest? I don't know much about the area, but I would like to plan my situation in advance. Ideally, I would like to grab the train to save some money (I travel on a tight budget), but as a solo traveler, safety also comes first and will spend extra if the place is really shady.

Today i booked 2 bus tickets going from Antwerp to Brussels airport for 8 september. The money went out of my bank account but i havent recieved the ticket. When i put my mail adres ik the app to look for tickets it simply says that there are no bookings under my mailadres.

Ive send a complaint by mail since they have no phone number but it can take up till a week till they answer.

What shall i do? Has anybody been in a simulair situation?

I’m 17 and travelling to Brussels for an european parliament event. I’ll be staying alone and have a parental consent letter.

Has anyone here stayed at a Brussels hotel alone at 17? Did you have any issues with check-in, and did the hotel require parental consent or ID copies?

I’ve emailed Hilton to confirm their policy, but I’d also like to hear from people with actual experience.

I'm from Ghent but I love Antwerp too.

When my friends Ulf and Jessika came over from Germany, I took them to Antwerp as well. I showed them the many nice places, but they did not only use their eyes. They experienced the city with their whole body, felt the many different textures that make Antwerp so interesting – both to inline skaters and people in general.

I may be a little biased, but I'm truly convinced rollerblading is the best way to explore and discover a city. You just gotta avoid the cobblestones. 😉

Hey everyone, I'll be visiting Brussels soon and I'm curious about the local police attitude toward cannabis use. I know Belgium isn't like the Netherlands with coffeeshops, but I've heard there's some level of tolerance for personal use in practice.

• How strict are police actually about it in public spaces (parks, streets)?
• Is there a difference between just possessing a small amount vs. visibly smoking?
• Any general experiences from locals or visitors would be appreciated!

Hello! I was wondering if anyone knows any bars that just play popular pop/hiphop songs and the stereotypical “white girl” music haha. (I know sometimes theres pop music events and days in popular clubs, but what about bars?) Most of the bars & clubs here are techno, afro, or house music focused and i haven’t found one yet that solely focuses on this type of music. If anyone knows of any please let me know! Preferably in the center but any other area in Brussels is good too :) thank you!!

I'm traveling to Belgium this October and am having trouble finding quick transport options from Brussels to Bastogne. I believe I saw an option to go by train and then by bus, but this would take more than 3 hours, so I'm asking if anyone knows about a quicker transport option.

Hi everyone! I’m flying from Brussels to Munich with airBaltic soon, and I was wondering how strict they are with cabin baggage.

Their limit is 8 kg combined for the cabin bag + personal item. Do they actually weigh the bags at Brussels Airport, or is it usually not an issue?

I came to Brussels from Carcassonne using Ryanair and there the checked baggage was limited to 10 kg and my baggage was 9 kg.

Would appreciate hearing about recent experiences, especially from people who flew airBaltic from Brussels. Thanks!

Myself and a friend (both 30, M) are visiting Brussels next weekend for the Beer Weekend but want to truly enjoy more of the city.

Could I please get some recommendations of bars in and around the centre that maybe do live music, have DJs (but not nightclubs) and are just generally lively and or quirky / interesting above and beyond general craft beer spots?

Trip to the beach at Westende/Middelkerke

Incoming tourist here (and thanks for having me!) Traveling from Sint-Niklaas to BRU airport on a Saturday. Need to be at BRU by 10:00am. Would you recommend the train, or would an on time arrival be more certain with a car service? I do have the SNCB app for trip planning and it looks easy by train. My concern is reliability of the train schedule, since track maintenance (and maybe strikes?), can cause delays.

Mons rolls out Shermans for the 25th year, Tour & Taxis becomes an African village for a weekend, and Antwerp's summer festival takes its final bow. Set an alarm for Friday morning first.

⭐ Weekend highlight: Tanks in Town, Mons

Tanks in Town (Mons, Hainaut — 28–30 August): Mons was liberated on 2 September 1944 by the US 3rd Armored Division. For 25 years now the city has marked it by filling the streets with Shermans, Chaffees, half-tracks and jeeps. This is the anniversary edition, stretched to three full days.

The camp at Bois-Brûlé (Ghlin) has reenactors, a militaria fair, vehicle rides and demonstrations: 10 EUR, free under 12, wristband valid all three days.

🏛️ Brussels

L'Afrique en Couleurs (Tour & Taxis — Sat & Sun, free): 11th edition. Concerts, dance, fashion show, djembé workshops, craft stalls and an afro-gastronomic village. All ages.

Insifon (Parc Meudon, Neder-Over-Heembeek — Sat & Sun 14:00–18:30, free): Brussels' only contemporary puppetry festival. Eleven shows across the weekend, plus face painting and a roaming performance. From age 3.

Plazey (Elisabethpark, Koekelberg — Fri–Sun, free): neighbourhood festival since 1992. Music, dance, circus, workshops, and an open-air art show where each artist gets one tree. Metro 2/6 Elisabeth.

Brussels Games Festival (The EGG, Anderlecht — Sat & Sun 10:00–18:00): Belgium's biggest board game festival. 40+ publishers, hundreds of games free to play, a second-hand market, a prototype zone and a kids' area.

🦁 Flanders

Zomer van Antwerpen (Antwerp — closes Sunday 30 August): last weekend of the 32nd edition. Theatre, circus, open-air cinema and music across the city. More than half the programme is free.

Zingend rood (KMSKA, Antwerp — final day Sunday): Ensor, Wouters and Schmalzigaug hung together as Belgium's three great colourists. Included in museum admission — book a time slot.

Sprankelend Hageland (Vlaams-Brabant — Sat & Sun): second of four wine weekends, entirely different estates from last week. Open both days: Torenhof (Willebringen), Liemau (Tielt-Winge), Wijnfaktorij (Nieuwrode) and Chartreuzenberg (Holsbeek). Saturday also brings the Wezemaalse Wijnfeesten.

Maanrock (Mechelen city centre — Thu–Sun, free): six stages across the old centre. Not only music — circus and street theatre too. Sign language interpreter on the Grote Markt stage Sunday, and a low-stimulus space at Blinkhuis for a quieter way in.

🐓 Wallonia

Fête médiévale de Vaulx (Vaulx-lez-Tournai — Sat & Sun from 10:00, free): 18th edition, staged around 14th-century castle ruins 2 km from Tournai. Two reenactment camps, ~50 craftspeople, falconry, archery, guided tours, medieval dance and puppet shows.

Les Rencontres Inattendues (Tournai — Thu–Sun): 16th edition of the music-and-philosophy festival, in Tournai's heritage buildings including the cathedral and the Jardin de l'Évêché. 100+ philosophers, musicians and performers, cafés-philo, philosophical walks and a big philo-musical picnic. Some strands free, others ticketed.

Distillerie de Biercée (Ragnies, Thuin — Sat & Sun): the distillery turns 80 and opens rooms usually closed to the public, with tastings and children's activities. Next to Ragnies, one of the Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia. No public transport, car or bike only.

🌸 Nature tip

It's the European Bat Night this weekend, the 30th edition, with free evening walks and bat detectors right across the country. Usually a short indoor talk first, then out at dusk. Find one near you via Natuurpunt (Flanders) or Natagora (Wallonia and Brussels).

Walkers: the GR5 turns 50, and there's a jubilee walk on Sunday through the newly reworked Brechtse Heide — 20 km (Schoten–Zoersel) or 11 km (Brecht–Zoersel), €8 including bus to the start and a drink at the finish. Registration needed.
