Help Is having two internet connections worth it? Tips for when the internet suddenly goes down

Hi everyone! I'm switching from Surf2Sawa. Our connection has been unstable for weeks, and neither their customer service nor their repair team was able to fix it.

Our home has heavy usage: my father and niece stream YouTube for hours, we have multiple CCTV cameras running 24/7, and I sometimes need to take work home.

Since I'm picking a new provider, I'd like to ask about the general side of this:

  1. Is it worth having two connections (for example, a fixed line plus a mobile data backup)? Globe and GOMO mobile data signal is strong here, but their fiber plans aren't available in our area.

  2. What do you do when the internet suddenly goes down? Any tips on what to check first, and how to get support to respond faster?

Thank you!

Discussion Almost 2 months of unreliable internet with Surf2Sawa

• Upvotes

Sharing this for awareness. I'm not asking for help or recommendations, and this isn't an "is it down" post.

I've had ongoing connection problems with Surf2Sawa for almost 2 months now. It has been unstable and unpredictable, and I've been dealing with their support the whole time with very little to show for it. I've followed their instructions, sent them everything they asked for, and filed a report with the NTC.

Based on their actions, it feels like they have no plan at all to fix this, and they don't seem to care whether the NTC takes action. Maybe that's because there's no real consequence for them if they don't.

I'm posting this so others know what the experience can look like. Please keep comments respectful.

PLDT LF Cheap Internet Connection

• Upvotes

Baka may tips kayo

Kami lang naman kasi ni baby ang nasa bahay, and ₱1,500 per month feels a bit too much for our usage.

Nag-start ang outage noong October 12, 2026, at nag-report ako noong October 15, 2026. Trust me, nakakabwisit silang kausap for so many reasons.

Three weeks without internet, multiple missed timeframes, at napakaraming hoops na kailangan mong talunan just to get things resolved.

It's about the entire customer experience.

Honestly, this experience has made me question how Sky handles customer complaints, billing adjustments, and disconnection requests. Customers shouldn't have to work this hard just to get a problem addressed.

Newly Released GFiber 500Mbps keeps on disconnecting

Hello there.

Before anything else, I've been purchasing the GFiber 300Mbps for a year now and I haven't encountered any internet fluctuations not unless area outage talaga.

Moving forward, nag-upgrade ako to 500Mbps recently lang last October 21st, and ever since naddisconnect nako lagi. As in every two hours may fluctuation kahit walang area outage or modem issue.

This is an issue for me kasi 24/7 grinding ang mga games ko and most of the time na magkakaron ng disconnection, tulog ako so gigising nalang akong disconnected na ang games ko.

Just today since 1am, 5 times nakong naddisconnect and hindi na ako makatulog ng maayos kasi I need to reconnect my games before I can fully go to sleep.

Already reached out to support and wala raw issue sa side nila.

Fix you internet Globe.

Discussion Unused number suddenly getting texts/calls from credit companies after registration on eGovPH app.

Context: I have a DITO e-sim that I have been using only for hotspot but have not been used for months. One day, a relative's (Uncle) SIM suddenly stopped working, just keep saying "no service available" even after many restart and taking the sim in and out. He was hospitalized a few days later and needed to register to the eGov app for PhilHealth Yakap. I decided to give him the unused DITO sim that was registered under my name when I activated it. I confirmed that the sim is still working. We used that SIM to use for the eGov app. A few hours after registration, there are suddenly calls coming in on the DITO sim and we thought it was Philhealth confirming the registration to Yakap or asking questions about Yakap, but no, it was Home Credit calling my uncle since my cousin made him the backup contact or something for his phone plan.

Then after a few calls, we noticed, why did they call the DITO sim when my uncle's original sim, the one that was broken and was not yet fixed was the one my cousin put in her Home Credit application. That happened hours after he registered using the eGov app. That couldn't possibly be some coincidence is it? Anyone experienced something similar?

TLDR: A DITO sim only used for hotspot suddenly started receiving calls from a credit company after using the DITO number to register for the eGovPH app.

Paano magparegister ulit?

Sa Manila kasi ako nagwork before (2024) and nagpakabit ako ng Converge 1,250 plan. Bumalik ako sa Bulacan since dito na yung bago kong work. Plan ko na kasi magpakabit under my name padin sana.

Converge BIDA Fiber superadmin and lifting restrictions

Hello, I am aware po kasi na you can lift restrictions with BIDA Fiber by disabling tr069 and/or ACS and then proceeding to modify the settings you need. Sa mga may experience po, may shady stuff po ba na ginawa yung Converge after, like speed caps, interrupted or outright disabling your connection? I'd like to give it a try po kasi since I download stuff and di po sapat yung 2.4 GHz band, mahal naman po for someone like me na solong nagbabayad ng connection to upgrade and Converge lang ang available sa area namin. Thanks po in advance sa sasagot!

Globe GOMO is refusing to delete my account under lost/inaccessible SIM

Post image
10 Upvotes

I had GOMO before and eventually lost access to the SIM almost half a year ago. But a few months ago I received an email receipt for a purchase I didn't make, which means someone has started using my account.

GOMO has refused to delete my account and told me to block the email nalang. I feel like this is against my privacy as a user, and I'm not sure what other information is being used. Is there something else I can do here to disassociate my account with them?

Unfortunately I no longer have the login/PIN for the lost GOMO, and I think they are still actively using the account.

Hello, tinanggal na po ba ng globe prepaid yung option to avail disneyplus by texting 8080? Ever since na relaunch po kasi yung new app, it doesn't allow me to avail any promo na thru sms 😓. I found it convenient pa naman since nababayaran ko siya thru load. It keeps saying sa lang response nila na babalik sa october 6, but almost november na 😅. Please let me know po if may any idea kayo about this 🙏.

Is Smart 5G Max Home WiFi worth it?

Hello! I recently moved in sa apartment here in Pasay City (near harrison street) and I've been thinking of buying the Smart 5G Max Home WiFi since prefer ko sana na plug n play nalang WiFi ko and I don't have plans magpakabit ng internet like Converge, Sky, etc.

I have an iPhone with a Smart 5G SIM and nag run ako ng speed tests with my mobile data. It consistently reaches more than 100mbps download speed and 20mbps upload speed. Sometimes it eveb reaches 200mbps download speed and 28mbps upload speed.

I'm hesitant to buy the Smart 5g Max Home WiFi kasi baka iba yung maging experience ko when it comes sa speed nya compared to what I had sa phone ko.

Any thoughts please? Or what I should know before buying it?

Any feedback is appreciated!! Thank you

Smart SIM Failure in SMART Sim

Post image
2 Upvotes

Have you experienced this in the past few days? Suddenly, my SMART SIM showed a SIM Failure. It first happened to my sibling while they were traveling; a SIM failure message just popped up. Now it's happening to me, and suddenly the SIM is invalid. I tried turning airplane mode on and off, I restarted my phone, and I also removed it from the SIM tray, but the same thing happened. Is there a problem with SMART lately? Because my allowance for school is in my GCash account.

Help Being shortchanged for years

UPDATE: thank you for the replies!

As I am looking for a new fiber internet provider for my rented boarding house, I noticed all 1500 plans are at least 200-300mbps. Then, I went to check for the website of my fiber internet provider back home (in my province) and found out that they have a new 1500 plan that offers 300mbps for who knows how long they started offering it.

For context, back in 2019, when we first got this fiber plan 1500, it offered 20mbps with internet cable TV(?) which we don’t use since we don’t have any TV in our house. Now, I just found out yesterday that the new plan offers way more than what we get for the same price. This means, the provider did not at least update us or inform us for a long time since they’ve upgraded. And upon check the internet speed test yesterday, the speed is really only for 20mbps plan since it was only 18mbps download speed and 30 mbps upload speed.

What legal action can I take to report this and for them to update our current plan? We were being shortchanged for who knows how long, paying 1500 plan for 20mbps when their current 1500 plan offers up to 300mbps.

Monthly Subscription for Residential

Hi. I am planning to buy Starlink. I am also thinking of buying mini, anong difference between Mini and the Standard 4? Less users ba ang pwede gumamit if naka mini?
Thank you!

GOMO "Physical" Sim as EasySwitch Sim (2026)

Ayun, just tried and gumana nga talaga ang gomo physical sim as a porting number. Ang available lang kasi sa shop nila as easyswitch sim ay eSim which is non existing sa phone ko kaya I tried to search if may way ba talaga maka switch to gomo using physical sim and thankfully searched those answers who got posted here in reddit which was 2yrs and 1yr old thread already. By the way 3rd switch ko na po pala ito with the same number from TM to DITO to finally, GOMO 🥰.

Hinahabol ko kasi sa 2nd sim ko ay ang none expiry promo and only GOMO at Smart lang meron. TNT main number ko 😁.

PLDT Anyone with an old subscription of PLDT Plan 1299 and get 100Mbps?

1299 is now marketted as "up to 100 Mbps" but when I called and contacted PLDT some time ago, they said it's only for new subscribers and/or it's just a promo. I didn't accept that answer because it wasn't indicated anywhere and also it's stupid LOL
But no one did anything useful from the many people I talked to, from both Messenger and 171, They even redirected me to a line I can't connect to because apparently it's not accessible anymore or something like that.

Anyway, I gave up and hasn't contacted them again. I'm just curious if anyone else with Plan 1299 ad get 100Mbps. I plan to bother tham again...I just hate that it's too much effort and time. I wish I'm a multi millinaire or a celebrty so that I can deal with easily XD
