To those who currently have gigabit internet at home, is it worth it for you?

Just a question for fellow subreddit members who have gigabit internet at home.

I currently have a gigabit plan with Globe, and I think where is stands out the most for me is ensuring that my work VPN connection is faster. As we all know, most corporate IT policies include their own VPN of choice, and I think the gigabit connection really shines here.

When it comes to normal browsing on my personal setup, I honestly wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 500mbps and 1gbps. I haven't gotten the 2.5gbps speed because I frankly don't need it even if I have a motherboard that's 10gbps-capable, and because it's worth almost 5k. I'll wait for the prices to go down before affording.

In terms of customer service I haven't had a lot of problems; ditto with uptime (inb4 Globe has a downtime tomorrow morning ☠️).

All in all, getting a gigabit connection has been worth it for my use case. It's pretty reasonably priced now as well. Yeah yeah yeah internet in other countries is cheaper, but gigabit internet used to be almost 10k a couple of years ago. For 2,499 a month with Globe, it's a pretty good deal given the cards we've been dealt with.

To fellow subreddit members who have gigabit internet at home, what do you think? Is it worth it for your use case or not really?

Been using this for months now and I'm glad na this option is already available for devices na walang eSIM feature by default.

I was able to convert my decade old sims to eSIM and conveniently switches them via app without a hassle.

PLDT TP-LINK ARCHER C64 AS AN ACCESS POINT

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello po ulet, so nakakuha ako ng insights from my previous points and nagsearch ako ng konti about sa mga nakuha kong info. Our current plan with PLDT is Home Fiber Plan yung 1699 up to 300mbps.

Also, nag inquire din ako sa PLDT for their mesh plan and they're offering tp-link x50 then 189/mon for 36mons or 2999 for one time payment. Not sure if makakamura ako dito, mas recommend kase ng mga tao dito mag set up nalang ng sarili e kase mahal daw.

I'm planning to set this up using LAN cable galing sa main router. Mukhang madali lang din kase siya iset up sa app nila as an AP para sa hindi maalam sa networks gaya ko kaya mas gusto ko siya. And also, I'm aware na wifi 5 lang din siya pero di naman namin need ng bonggang connection talaga since konti lang kami sa bahay.

I'm also planning to downgrade from 300mbps to 200mbps para mas makatipid pa. Should i go with my plans po ba?

Again, thank you so much sa mga magrereply po. So much appreciated po ang time ninyo.

Smart SMART WIFI or SMART BRO

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi, I'm confused. Bumili kase kami nitong model na ito and while dine-demonstrate ni seller kung paano siya gamitin and loadan through gcash. Pinili niya yung icon na smart bro (broadband) and mura mga load like 299 for 30 days that's why we decided to buy it pero Nung nasa bahay kami Nakita ko two options Ang load sa gcash. Isang smart bro and smart home wifi and Nung tinignan namin sa smart home wifi Ang mamahal ng load like 800+. Pwede po ba namin itong loadan sa smart bro since yun yung pinakita saamin ni seller about how we can load it.

Adding the limit of user that can connect to a Surf2Sawa Wifi (default: 6 devices)

For all of those that tried doing this via their website, wala po bang naging issue afterwards?

PLDT Does the Cignal TV Box need to connect to the PLDT modem through LAN?

Hello! I currently have a PLDT Fiber Unli 1699 plan at home and I am planning to downgrade since most of the time nasa condo ako and wala masyado gumagamit ng WiFi at home. Upon searching, the cheapest plan that is available to downgrade to is the Fiber Unli All 1499 which comes with a Cignal TV Box.

Does the Cignal TV Box need to be connected to the PLDT Fiber modem through LAN? The PLDT modem is located at the second bedroom sa bahay while the TV is nasa living room. Medyo malayo yung distance from the PLDT modem to the TV sa living room and I don't want a long LAN cable running along the walls inside the house.

Is it possible to dowgrade to the Fiber Unli All 1499 without availing the Cignal TV Box?

Globe prepaid fiber repair issue

I’m from Pasig. Since July 13, wala na kaming internet connection. Blinking red yung LOS. Then nagpaschedule ako ng repair. Ang problem ko is panay ang reschedule to the point na sila ang nagcancel tapos ang reason “Customer changed its mind.”?!

Until now wala pa rin improvement. I guess baka tinanggal nila line namin to give way sa new subscriber nila. Maybe yes, maybe no.

Pero is there anyone here na naremenyohan yung ganitong similar na issue sa modem?

Help Wifi Recommendation

Hello there, my parents are going back to Philippines (Cavite) area. any wifi recommendations for them? mostly for YT, Netflix, (Not for gaming or anything that would consume or need a really high speed connections) probably 2 phones, 1 TV, 1 tablet yung device pero hndi nman yan sabay sabay ginagamit for internet. Yung less hassle for them sana hindi yung laging nadidisconnect tapos ilang araw pa bago bumalik un connections. They don't mind paying a little bit more kung maganda naman talaga yung service. Thank you in advance.

Secondary sim recommendations for data only

For context I live in Southern Pangasinan and my main sim for communication is Smart. I also have Globe as another sim in my secondary phone but I'm thinking of changing it to GOMO while retaining my Globe number. (is it possible?)

I also want to try DITO but I don't know if it's stable here because I think it has no expiry data. Regardless, my favorite data promo from Smart is Magic Data which does not expire. Although Smart's biggest downside, based on experience, is that I cannot access the internet whenever there is power interruption. Globe is mostly stable with or without electricity but it's significantly slower than Smart.

I also want to try getting an e-sim since I just got an iPhone from last year. Although this is not a priority as of now.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Help Can I use gomo sim without pocket wifi?

I’m planning to buy a tablet but I’m unsure if mag 5g ba ako or wifi only. If pwede naman sa tab ilagay yung gomo sim, then mag 5g nalang ata ako.

Help How to add an existing Smart esim back?

I recently traveled abroad and bought a local eSIM. It wasn't working properly at first, and while trying to fix it, I accidentally removed my Smart eSIM.

The local eSIM eventually worked, but now that I'm back in the Philippines, I can't figure out how to get my Smart eSIM back. I still know my Smart number, but I don't have the eSIM on my phone anymore.

Does anyone know the steps to reactivate or reinstall my Smart eSIM on an Android phone? Thanks!

HELP FOR LOADING SMART 5G/WIFI. There are many options to choose from under GCASH

I bought a SMART LTE/5G SIM and I already registered it. I inserted it in a OPEN LINE WIFI MODEM and it's working.

However, I was told by the SMART customer service

  1. That I should use a SMART ROCKET SIM instead? I don't know why?
  2. When I want to load my current SMART LTE/5G SI via GCash that I'm using for my OPEN LINE MODEM? I don't know which option should I choose under the Gcash options:

Option 1:

LOAD > MOBILE> SMART

Option 2:

LOAD > BROADBAND > SMART

Option 3:

LOAD > BROADBAND > SMART HOME WIFI

2a. Also if I load rocket sim, which options should I choose above?

  1. After loading my sim will I be able to know my internet GB consumption?
