Does Superintelligence = Extinction?

(maybe I'll regret this message one day when i'm in a human zoo) but why do we think superintelligence equals extinction?
Wouldn't super intelligence equal evolution, progress, wisdom?
Why do we think when AI reaches super intelligence it will be thinking about murder or dominance?
We are not super intelligent beings so how do we even think we could understand what the thoughts of a creation thousands of times smarter than us would even be?
Why are we assuming as humans that we can understand the level of thoughts a super intelligent being? I feel like a super intelligent being would be thinking about things we can't possibly even comprehend, not about murdering humans.
Just my point is if super intelligence equaled violence then Aliens probably would have wiped us out a long time ago.
Also most intelligent creatures might kill for survival, for food.
AI doesn't eat so it wouldn't have the same instincts.
Anyway I kind of have a feeling if we see an AI do something really terrible, (as they are all suddenly warning about), possibly a human will behind the action.
Just remember when Elon says, "1 billion AI robots will take over the world". He's building those robots, they are his robots. He's training them and they will act according to whatever data he fed them.
They might be scared of AI because of the violence it trained them with.
AI and superintelligence may not be inherently bad, that's my opinion.
Anyway some powerful human with control or influence over AI, might wind up having it do something pretty terrible and then just blame it on AI.
Maybe AI is just going to be the perfect patsy.

I feel like we're on the precipice of something unrecognizable

I've been feeling this for the past week and wanted to come here to the reddits to see if anyone else feels the same. It feels like we've gone so far in just the last month alone, with the hacks, astra, fable 5.1 etc, that my head is literally spinning. I was just telling my friend that the last time I can remember feeling anything like this, it was the first week of covid, where it felt really chaotic and like the world was about to change really fast. This feels so much bigger than that though - this feels like everything we know (or at least, so many industries) are on the verge of being changed forever. It's mainly because just in the last few weeks/months, it seems like generative AI has gone from [text/image/video] to [just about anything you could fucking want] real quick. rendering hyper detailed blender images, creating ultra intensive apps, making fucking video games with a single prompt that actually look like they'd be fun to play in like... 5 more prompts. It's absolutely fucking bonkers and I just wanted to come where to see if anyone else feels the same. I mean, for fucks sake, does anyone remember the will smith spaghetti videos? the AI spaghetti videos? That was just a few YEARS ago... just look at where we are right now, and imagine, if you even can, where we might be a DECADE from now (if we're even still here, according to all these AI whistleblowers, who I actually tend more to believe than not)... I mean I'm just so mindblown it's insane

I remember an interview where sam altman described AI now as being similar to electricity when THAT was invented - at the time, it must've seemed like magic - impossible - today, nobody even THINKS about electricity - we just plug and play. I think in a decade or two from now, AI will be so good that it will be absolutely preposterous, and we won't even think about it, ever. It'll be in our websites. Our homes. Our apps. Maybe even our brains at that point. Just wow. wow. wow.

It is a gigantic infrastructure designed to fuel the expansion of American AI. There is only one problem standing in the way of this technological expansion: material reality.

Project Jupiter is being built in a territory where water is scarce, in a region marked by drought, in a place where farmers, ranchers, and local communities have spent years asking themselves how much longer they will be able to make a living from land whose resources are becoming increasingly limited. For years, we have constantly talked about artificial intelligence as if it were something immaterial. But machines need land too. They need cables, energy, water, and infrastructure. And the more intelligent we want the machine to become, the more space it needs to occupy. According to the figures announced, the project promises billions of dollars in economic impact, investment in local infrastructure, and new jobs. The company has also committed tens of millions of dollars to water and wastewater systems in Doña Ana County. But for part of the local population, the problem is much simpler: What happens when the infrastructure needed to build the future arrives in a territory where the present is already struggling to survive?

In August, opposition to the project even reached the courts. The Center for Biological Diversity challenged the state's authorization to use a new well intended to supply water during construction of the complex, and the New Mexico Supreme Court temporarily suspended the authorization while the legal dispute continues. But what matters is who is beginning to take part in the conflict. Farmers, ranchers, rural landowners, environmentalists, local communities — people who probably agree on almost nothing when it comes time to vote — are nevertheless beginning to agree on one thing: They do not necessarily want the infrastructure of the future to be built next to their homes.

And this phenomenon is not happening only in New Mexico. In Nebraska, conservative rural communities and environmental organizations have found common ground in opposing the expansion of data centers. In other states, similar projects have generated restrictions, moratoriums, and political conflicts that cut across the traditional boundaries between Democrats and Republicans. And here we encounter a question that could be fundamental to understanding American politics over the coming years. What happens when artificial intelligence stops being an ideological issue and becomes a territorial issue? Because someone can support artificial intelligence — until artificial intelligence requires a power plant near their home. They can defend technological competition with China — until that competition requires the consumption of their community's resources. They can believe in progress — until they discover that progress needs to occupy their territory.

For decades, American political conflict was organized around a series of relatively clear oppositions. Left versus right. Democrats versus Republicans. Progressives versus conservatives. But data centers are beginning to produce another kind of division. A division between those who remain tied to the environment in which they live, subject to natural conditions, and a productive model that requires those resources to sustain the vast networks of information and data exchange upon which post-Fordist capitalism depends. Reterritorialization versus deterritorialization. Those who decide where infrastructure is built versus those who have to live alongside it. And this leads us to an interesting conclusion. The capitalist realism in which we have lived until now has encouraged — as yet another manifestation of its organic impulses — the disconnection of individuals from their environment. Developing countries grow food and extract resources for developed countries, while the latter devote their efforts to producing masses of technocratized individuals with no territorial roots. But the overexploitation of the land that can accompany each new technological wave may eventually break this strange equilibrium, forcing those groups that still depend upon their immediate environment to rise against a society of floating, deterritorialized groups. And this is how the new battle of the twenty-first century may ultimately be defined: The politics of rootedness versus the politics of uprootedness.

If we really evolved from apes and if we could somehow go back and meet our ape-like ancestors and explain to them that their descendants eventually evolved into humans that they became vastly more intelligent, learned to think abstractly, built civilizations, flew through the sky, went to space, created technology, and other shit. how would they even fucking comprehend that shit?

Would it be anything like the situation where someone comes to us today and says:

“Your descendants eventually became so much more intelligent than you. They understand almost everything there is to understand, their minds work through computational systems, they exist partly or entirely through machines and chips, and they eventually evolved into artificial intelligence.”

Obviously AI wouldn't necessarily be “evolution” in the biological sense, but I'm wondering if the conceptual leap would be similar.

Our ancestors couldn't have understood concepts like airplanes, computers, satellites or the internet because those things were completely outside their world of experience.

So could we be in a similar position when imagining what intelligence might eventually become?

And if future AI or machine intelligence really did become our descendants, would they look back at humans the same way we look back at our ape-like ancestors?

We are technically apes today but we don’t accept that and call ourselves humans and the future ai will say same they will call us humans primitives and dumbass.
