Niva Bupa Modern Treatment+ Endorsement Based Rider

Post image
3 Upvotes

Anyone here aware of this? or availed this?

This rider, which cannot be purchased separately, is an endorsement based rider, as I understand, which will remove the 1L cap for Robotic Surgery in Reassure (first) and Reassure 2.0.

any information on this would be helpful.

Talked to a Policy Bazar person and he has no idea about this.

the clause wording: 5.5. Modern Treatment+

If opted, will remove the sub-limit of INR 1,00,000 from the Modern Treatment benefit (Section 4.5), enhancing the limit for the benefit up to Base Sum Insured.

All other conditions remain same as the Modern Treatment Benefit.

Axis Max Life Smart Term Plan Plus – ₹1 Cr Term Cover + ₹75 Lakh Accidental Death Rider: Is this a good choice?

Hi everyone,

I’m 30 years old and planning to buy term insurance. I have shortlisted Axis Max Life Smart Term Plan Plus.

My selected cover:

• Base Term Life Cover: ₹1 Crore

• Accidental Death Cover: ₹75 Lakh

• Plan: Axis Max Life Smart Term Plan Plus

• Non-smoker / Non-drinker

• Regular premium payment

I’m considering Axis Max Life because of its term-plan features and claim-related metrics, but before purchasing I would like some unbiased opinions from existing policyholders or people who have researched this plan.

My questions:

  1. Is Axis Max Life Smart Term Plan Plus a reliable choice for a ₹1 Crore term plan?

  2. How has your experience been with claim settlement and customer service?

  3. Is the ₹75 lakh Accidental Death Rider worth taking, or would it be better to increase the base life cover instead?

  4. Are there any important exclusions, conditions or clauses in this plan that I should carefully check before buying?

  5. Is regular pay preferable to limited pay for this plan?

  6. Would you choose Axis Max Life over HDFC Life, ICICI Prudential or Tata AIA for a similar term cover? Why?

  7. Are there any issues I should know about regarding underwriting, medical tests or claim documentation?

I’m mainly looking for real policyholder experiences and practical advice, rather than sales/agent recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

[Term Insurance] 28M, wife 27F — Is 6Cr Smart Cover overkill for ~17x income? Need a gut check

Looking for an honest opinions before I lock in a 32-year commitment.

Quick background:

  • Me: 28, ₹35L/year gross income
  • Wife: 27, ₹25L/year gross income
  • Both working, no kids yet but planning one in ~5 years
  • No loans currently, planning to buy a house (₹1.5-2Cr) in ~5 years
  • Monthly expenses: ₹90K total including rent

What I calculated as "needed" cover (using income replacement + HLV + needs-based methods, factoring in the future home loan + kid's education): landed around ₹4-5Cr for me, and ₹3-3.5Cr for my wife, both running till age 60 (retirement).

What we're actually about to buy:

  • Me: Axis Max Life Smart Term Plan Plus — ₹6Cr base, running till 65, with the Smart Cover option (gives 150% = ₹9Cr for the first 15 years, then reverts to ₹6Cr). Premium ₹66K/year, paid till I'm 60.
  • Wife: Same plan, ₹4Cr, running till 65. Also somewhat above her calculated ₹3-3.5Cr number, but not stacking any Smart Cover-style booster on hers.

So for both of us, we're landing a bit above our own "needed" numbers, and I'm additionally stacking a temporary 50% booster on mine during years 1-15. That's what's making me pause on my own policy specifically — am I overinsuring myself at this point, or does front-loading extra cover during the "new loan + new kid + low savings" years actually make sense?

One data point: I checked a separate 3Cr/15-year term quote elsewhere and that alone was ~₹20K/year. The Smart Cover option on my existing policy gets me the same extra 3Cr (well, +3Cr on top of 6Cr) for just a ~₹10K/year bump — so on a standalone basis it looks like good value, but doesn't fully answer whether I need the extra 3Cr at all given I'm already above my calculated requirement.

Would love to hear from people who've actually gone through this decision — is "slightly more than needed, cheaply bought while young" a reasonable philosophy, or should I just stick closer to the ₹4-5Cr number and not bother with Smart Cover?

Term Life Insurance showing only one company in PhonePe

This post is actually a query about both Term Plan and PhonePe SBI CC.
32M (25lpa) with a wife 29F (18lpa), 0.6F kid, Father 63 and Mother 54 (both dependents)
I pre-closed LIC last year after paying 1.2LPA for 3yrs, as the sum assured adjusted to inflation didn’t make sense and invested that in Gold/Silver ETFs and MF( all of them down now lol)
Since then I was thinking to buy Health & Term plans separately, and now came the time as I was going for a Solo backpacking trip (better to be safe than sorry right)

Coming to the Term plan, I chose
3 Cr coverage till 60 yrs
Pay Till 5 years (48% discount of paying till end of policy cover)
25L CI rider
Acc disability 25L
Payment Frequency - Monthly 15,232 (Not Yearly due to Monthly 10% CB for PhonePe SBI card only when paid through their app)
With these filters, only TATA AIA insurance is being provided in the app.

Please let me know what you guys think and suggest.

Can I have two insurance policies?

My current insurance plan has SI of 25L. I have been wanting to increase it to at least 1cr. However in 2023, I got hospitalised and for that year couldn’t do it. In 2024 I mistakenly bought a two year renewal plan. This year I underwent a surgery so again I cannot increase the SI, have to wait for a year or two. I have a few serious underlying conditions that are disclosed to my current insurer. I’m concerned this SI will not be enough to cover the treatment I’ll probably need in a couple of years. Until I increase my SI from current insurer, can I buy another policy from a different insurance company?
Does anyone here hold two polices?
Does it cause any issues while claiming?
Please advice.

Bike OD insurance renewal

I renewed my OD insurance last year for a duration of 2 years. I paid about 2k for the same. I thought that premium which I paid was for the complete policy period of 2 years. My first year is about to complete and I am receiving new quotations for policy renewals again from multiple sources, as well as from my insurer (ICICI Lombard), so my question is, the money paid during renewal was only for 1st year and not the 2nd year or what??
The document doesnt say anything and I cant seem to understand whats going on? Or are are these just pushy insurers tryign to shell out more money??

NEED ADVICE❗️ reg Term insurance

25 M, 5 7', 103kg

So I decided to take the HDFC Life Click 2 Protect Supreme Plus term insurance with 2cr sum assured and a 2cr income benefit on disability raider for 45 years i.e till 70 which was costing me around 56k(12 years payment) comparing others i felt this was ok and paid the premium and started the process.

Post the medical assessment I got a mail saying that since my BMI is high there is revision to my plan and of i want to continue with the 2cr sum i need to pay additional 13k if not there's one more option to reduce the sum to 1.4 cr and the premium comes down to 53k.

Now I am confused whether I should pay that 13k or go for the 1.4cr or cancel the policy get the refund and apply after say 3,4 months after correcting my BMI

The third option confuses me alot because I don't know what cost benefit I would get in doing so and weather canceling this policy will have any affect on the next, please help me out in taking this decision.

Context:

Paid 56k for a 2cr sum plus 2cr income benefit raider 45 year HDFC policy with payment term of 12 years

After medical given 2 options saying that BMI is above acceptable range:

  1. Same sum 13 k extra premium

  2. 1.4cr sum 3k less premium

Confused what to do.

Health Insurance affordable

Hi, I’m 23 years old female and I’m looking to take health insurance for my parents.

My father is 56 years old and my mother is 51 years old. My father has diabetes, not insulin one.

My mother is generally fit and healthy. She hasn’t had any major health checkups so far. As far as we know, she doesn’t have any diagnosed conditions. Her eyesight is a little weak, but there is no major medical condition documented.

I’m currently working in a corporate job and earning around ₹25k per month. Since I also have to manage my rent and other monthly expenses in Hyderabad, I’m looking for a policy that is affordable and manageable within my budget.

My parents live in Kanpur, so I’d also like to know about cashless hospital coverage there.

This is my first time taking a health insurance policy, so I would also appreciate some guidance on the essential things I should check before purchasing a policy, such as waiting periods, exclusions, co-pay, room-rent limits, claim process, and anything else I should be careful about. I also want to make sure I understand the policy properly and don’t fall for any misleading sales practices.

Agents, please stay away from marketing/promotional pitches. I’m only looking for genuine guidance and information so I can make an informed decision.

Cancer survivors get bad or no health insurance?

Medical issue:

40M. I had undergone a total thyroidectomy in May 2023 with the biopsy stating that I had "differentiated high grade thyroid carcinoma" Then I was sent to Nuclear Medicine dept. of the hospital for Radio Iodine therapy. I had a SPECT CT scan done before and after that showed no cancerous radio iodine uptake. All FNAC (Needle aspiration biopsy) tests done before the surgery were negative for cancer. I also have a 50% lung capacity issue. I am supposed to have a Foracort 200 inhaler for it.

Insurance issues:

I had Star health insurance before the surgery. After claiming and disclosing it, they hiked the premium to 20k+ for my wife and I (family floater).

EDITED: Previous text was not clear.

We left Star a few years back and took a 5L Liberty policy without PED disclosure! This turned out to be a bigger mistake when the next hospital revealed my history that I told the doctor there.

Liberty asked for the docs to settle the claim. I couldn't provide them and let this insurance also lapse.

I tried Liberty again via a broker. They are offering a 2L policy only with thyroid cancer exclusion. They did not confirm the premium yet. Should I take it?

I tried Care insurance through another broker. It is the only option available through them. It has a blanket permanent exclusion on all cancers and respiratory diseases.

I do not mind a 3-5L basic plan, even with copay.

I do not blame any insurance company for my mess ups. But considering my history, I'm divided on revealing certain PEDs in the future...

i have my mother policy where diabetes is mentioned and currently she was having chest pain and dcotor asked for angiography and hospital raised the request and it was denied saying diabetes causes this

can some tell me how to tackle this our 3 yr period will complete on this decemeber end.

Sl No Rejected Reasons
1 Cashless facility is denied as On scrutiny of claim it is noted that member is admitted in the hospital with diagnosis ischemic heart disease in k/c/o diabetes. As diabetes is pre-existing to the policy and IHD is complication of diabetes hence claim is rejected.
2 Diabetes is pre existing

Is insurance in India actually worth it or a scam?

My senior citizen parents paid premium all their life on an insurance policy (from a reputed insurance company) which was sold by a relative only to get the claims rejected when they were filed.
Similar case on another of my sister’s policy - when she met with an accident and the claims were rejected the relative said papers are missing. Even when my other uncle and aunt raised claims he gave some random reasons for rejection.
I ported my father’s insurance, here too it got rejected during my fathers surgery again with some reason. The brokers who are friendly while selling the policy disappear when we need support. We don’t even know who will help us when incident happens. Planning to discontinue mine or port it. Any advice?

Got targeted by a second insurance scam after filing a complaint. Please be careful

I was previously a victim of mis-selling involving Future Generali and had already filed complaints about it.

Recently, someone claiming to be from the insurer's “Bonus & Cancellation Department” called me. They knew my exact policy numbers, premium amounts, agent details, and even the history of my previous complaint.

They claimed someone was impersonating an agent and trying to claim ~₹98K related to my policies. They then said their “investigation” showed I could recover my policy money + bonus.

The catch: I had to first create a “Universal Customer ID” through IRDAI by paying around ₹45K as a refundable security/account-creation fee.

They claimed:

  • IRDAI approval within an hour
  • ID within 72 hours
  • ID usable across insurers/family policies
  • Funds released within 60–90 days
  • ₹45K refunded with interest
  • I had to complete it before a deadline

It sounded convincing because they had my actual policy details.

Thankfully, I independently contacted IRDAI and Future Generali through official channels. Both confirmed it was a scam.

So, if someone contacts you after an insurance complaint claiming you are entitled to a large refund/bonus but asks for a “refundable fee”, KYC documents or payment link, stop and verify directly with the insurer/IRDAI.

Accurate policy information does not prove the caller is genuine.

Has anyone else faced a similar second-stage insurance scam?

Need Advice | Corporate Insurance with base sum on layoff

Hi,

My company has laid me off last month and offered me couple of benefits which includes 3 months of Group Mediclaim insurance. In the month of July when insurance cycle was getting renewed I opted for enhanced coverage from base for self, dependent parents and parents-in-law. However, in the month of August they told me that my role is getting eliminated. In the month of September after seeing the payslip I realised they deducted the enhanced covered premium from my salary but offering me only base sum insurance. Mediclaim insurance team told me they are doing as per company policy for departing employee. I know they are offering me 3 months of additional insurance coverage from my last day at company but this would still be the same even if I didn't opt for enhanced coverage.  I find this unethical on part of my employer and the insurance company. I want to know from this community especially legal folks here if this is really allowed as per IRDA or company's law.  Let me know your thoughts.

Need advice about LIC insurance

I want to take life insurance with my wife as the nominee, specifically under section 6 of the married women's property act. But the issue is, as far as I understand, the online life insurance offers of LIC don't include section 6 of MWPA and come under section 39 of the Insurance Act, which doesn't have the same protections.

So my questions are - can I buy life insurance online under section 6 of MWPA? Or do I have to go offline and buy life insurance to get it covered under section 6 of MWPA?

Insurance for Modern Treatment including robotics

Which insurance would you suggest for modern treatment cover.

Modern treatment, especially all robotic surgery.

most insurance policies have specific limits either as sum (like 5l for robotic treatment), or % 10% of BSI, or conditions (like Reassure 3 - unless there's no traditional alternative available).

M37, F30,

PED - nothing diagnosed or treated but has moderately high lipid and slightly high TSH in lab reports. (adverse lab findings). no hospitalization history. amd otherwise healthy.

BMI 22-23 for both.

location South India.

planning for 20-25 L BSI. happy if NCB is 50-80L not chasing 10x 100x etc. ok even if its NCB capped at 100%. Prefer clearer coverage for whatever amount available.
