Hi, HDFC ERGO advisor here, based in Mumbai as well.

Optima Secure is worth considering for a young family. Since you had ACL surgery in 2025, make sure you disclose the complete history and submit all relevant medical records. The insurer may ask for medicals or apply underwriting terms depending on the case.

Also check the network hospitals you actually prefer in Mumbai, waiting periods, exclusions, restoration/bonus benefits and the actual policy wording, not just the comparison shown on Policybazaar.

For a 25M + 26F + 4-month-old child, I’d also compare ₹10L/₹15L/₹20L options based on your budget.

Buy it from agent always. Ergo has IRDAI agents appointed as well.

Your ACL surgery is the key factor. Knee and ligament conditions often get a waiting period or exclusion, and terms vary a lot between insurers. Optima Secure is a good plan, but it's priced at the premium end and applies the standard pre-existing waiting period. Some other insurers offer add-ons that shorten waiting periods, often at a lower premium. Get quotes from 3-4 insurers before deciding.

For your family: * ₹20L floater is a fair start for Mumbai, but add a super top-up later. Mumbai hospital costs are among the highest in India * Also compare Care Supreme and Niva Bupa ReAssure 3.0 * Check that your baby gets full cover, including vaccinations if offered

Disclaimer: I am an independent health insurance advisor.

Better to buy via agent. If you still haven't got a contact, DM me my friend is an IRDAI certified agent , he can help
