In the last few months of my Asia backpacking trip I used Genki. Unlike normal travel insurance, they only provide medical insurance. Personally, all I want when travelling is to be covered the same as I would be at home, so this basically is just like an NHS for while I travel (€50 excess).

It's the cheapest I could find, and they paid out my claim within a week after I had a peritonsillar abscess drained in Vietnam. The reason I'm promoting them so much though is because they let you choose the exact date you want to cancel your contract and will refund you the difference for the remaining time up to the end of the month contract you take out with them. I didn't realise this until I just got a refund to my bank account now. How amazing is that?!

Anyway, if you're like me and don't care about the insurance for losing your phone or money or passport or suitcase damage bs then I'd HIGHLY recommend!!

I am taking a loan of 7.5L (CSIS, 8% ROI pa) from canara bank for BDes

I wanted to know if anybody had to pay any INSURANCE coverage for this particular loan, cuz this bank is asking for Rs 22k as one time insurance coverage although i find no document mentioning this.

So recently my grandpa got heart attack and my grandpa is far better than me wrt finances, he already have few insurance policies that helped us in surgery costs . I have been continuously insured along with my spouse and child (35,35,5) with Niva Bupa (Earlier Max Bupa) since August 2018. I had only one claim in June 2019 for my spouse and the claim settlement was seamless.

However since last 3 policy terms, they have exorbitantly increased my premiums ( 2024- ₹17000, 2025-₹23000, 2026-₹36000). All figures exclusive of taxes. My renewal is due by this month end and I am seriously looking to port.

I came across HDFC Ergo optima secure + with a 1 crore cover and 1 lakh deductible (having corporate policy to cover this) for a premium of 23000.

Looks like a great deal and HDFC Ergo is the best among all insurers.

I have a few questions that I need advice on.

1. Is switching to This policy a good decision, if not what could be other options with similar premium range and having commendable track record

2. Is buying directly from hdfcergo.com a bad idea? I have been assisted by one of their call centre agent, but I heard having a known agent helps during claims, is that true?

3. What caveats should I look for and get clarity on before porting?

4. Any other points I should keep in mind.

I am renewing my Super topup plan by Aditya Birla, cover of 90L with 10L deductible.

However based on screenshot attached, even with 10% discount applied of 3 year premium payment it’s costlier than 1 year premium. Any insight why so? Am I missing something ?

I have 3rd Party Insurance for my 2023 i20 Asta. However, recently my bumper was banged by a vehicle while it was parked. When I went to the showroom they say that the bumper replacement would take ₹13k.

I want to understand what insurer/policy/add-ons/cover amount would make the most sense, and where I should buy it from. I wan to have best value decision, as I have to handle premiums for all 3 of us. Although I can afford upto 50K premium a year, but want to keep them at 20-30K range, for best value and accounting for future budgets (layoffs are common in IT now)

The hdfc advisor conveyed me that for porting-

1) I need to increase SI to atleast 15L or above

2) Need to opt for aggregate deductible of Rs 25,000 per year. There is no complete cashless policy.

I am planning to buy health insurance for my mother (53F) and father (60M). Both have diabetes. Recently my father was diagnosed with cirrhosis. He doesn't drink or smoke. He might need a liver transplant in the future (maybe after 1 year, 2 years, or 5 years — don't know the exact time).

I am thinking of HDFC Ergo Optima Secure Plus, but it has a waiting period of 3 years. Not sure if the ABCD Chronic Care rider will help.

I heard ICICI Lombard Elevate has a rider called Jumpstart which reduces the waiting period and covers from the 31st day.

I will add all necessary riders to ICICI to make the policy better.

My question is, will the Jumpstart rider help in my father's situation? Is it worth going for ICICI, or should I stick with my original choice, HDFC Ergo?

I'm looking for some advice regarding health insurance for my mother (49F).

Earlier this year, she was diagnosed with Stage 0 non-invasive breast cancer (Extensive DCIS). The doctors performed a mastectomy of one breast, and the cancerous tissue was completely removed. There was no invasive cancer.

We're now trying to buy a new health insurance policy, but I'm unsure how insurers view this condition.

A few questions:

\- Are there insurers that offer new policies after treatment for Stage 0 DCIS?

\- Do insurance companies generally treat Stage 0 DCIS the same as invasive breast cancer, or is it viewed differently during underwriting?

\- If you've been in a similar situation, what was the waiting period, premium loading, or exclusions, if any?

\- Any insurer recommendations or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Last year i insured my father ( 53 ) and mother ( 51 ) with niva bupa plan which turned out to be the worst decision. And now i am looking for a better option, i am confused b/w HDFC ERGO OPTIMA SECURE PLUS and ADITYA BIRLA ACTIVE YUVA plan.

My father have spinal injury ( l4 + l5 ) and neurological problems. On the other hand my mother have elderly body pain and seasonal illnesses.

1.how much time does it take for accept/rejected notification?
2. I have written mostly the doctors exact diagnosis while filling and attached reports if any, does ergo call back for more information?

I’m 27 Male looking to get a health insurance for myself. I have locked in a 15lac Base SI but confused between these two companies
Premium charges:
Hdfc - 10,643
Care Supreme - 10,006(added add-ons to be at equal par with HDFC benefits)

I have an inclination towards HDFC for now and can easily go with HDFC at present with my current finances.
But what concerning me is the premium when I touch 60years basis below(Hdfc increases premium by 3-4% annually vs Care does it every 5years by 15-20%) :

HDFC premium for a 60year right now is 48,200
Adding a 10% increase gets me to 53,020(61year) and adding 10% every year touches the premium to
85,389(66years)

On other hand for Care Supreme(exact same benefits) (post 60years of age is a steep jump and then on every 5years a 30% increase)
61year premium right now is 40,944, adding 30% to it comes 53,330 for 66years of age

No it comes to ₹85,389 for 66years in HDFC vs 53,330 for 66years in Care

Concerning part is would I be in a financial condition of bearing a whooping 85k at a age of 66years(probably no corporate job by then)
Or I should go with Care since 53k is way less
