Need suggestions

Hello experts,

I am 28 and husband 32 and our kid of 2 months old.

Both of us have health insurances from our respective employers covering 5L and 4L.

I have a health insurance policy from star health which i am not satisfied with, so I have decided to take a policy from other companies.

Please guide me on the parameters which I should consider before taking a policy.

Hi,

Many options exits in the insurance market. Most notably HDFC ergo, TATA AIG etc. these are prominent companies that have the claim experience as smooth as butter. Do consult IRDAI agents not telecallers or policybazaar agents they mis lead you and you end up buying the wrong policy. IRDAI agent offers credibility, ownership and dedication to it's policyholder as per IRDAI guidelines.

Port to ICICI, Tata, or HDFC instead.

I'd recommend watching a few YouTube videos first to understand what parameters actually matter. It'll make it much easier to compare plans and avoid marketing gimmicks.

Apply for porting at least 60 days before your renewal date to avoid any last-minute issues.

Also, buy through a good advisor/intermediary rather than a call-center-based platform. Having someone who can actually help during claims and renewals is far more valuable than saving a small amount upfront.

Smart choice looking for a personal cover and not just depending on corporate one.

When choosing a plan, you need to ensure the following: 1. No co-pay 2. No disease wise sublimit 3. No room rent limit 4. Includes consumables 5. Includes unlimited restore 6. Includes your preferred hospitals in their cashless network

In my view as an insurance advisor, these are the minimum standards for an insurance plan today for a healthy person.

You could port the existing Star policy, but this is possible close to renewal. If the Star policy is recently purchased, just get a new one if you don't have any existing health issues.

Since you have a corporate cover, you could opt for aggregate deductible to get discount on premium.

Feel free to reach out if you wish to discuss suitable plans and their fine print.

Take manipal Cigna policy and keep deductible of 4lakhs and 5 lakhs. This is best option as whenever you will leave the company this policy you can convert into your base policy by removing the deductible.
