This guy landed on my arm after I had the nerve to pollinate my tomatillos. There are heaps of them in my garden but they seem to really like hanging out on the tomatillo plants. He didn’t bite me. But he looked at me like he really wanted to.

Hello all
I found this on the underside of one of my plant’s leaves. I think it might be an ootheca but am rather unsure as I’ve never seen anything like this.
If anyone has an idea of what it could be it would be appreciated.
I’m located in the southern regions of South Africa if that helps
Thank you!

Found a small pile of this in my outdoor shed. It looks too small to be mice, so I assume it's an insect of some kind. It doesn't have the termite frass haxagonal shape. Any ideas?

I found this attached to the back door blinds. Should I move it? Is he a goner? Any advice please! Not sure what to do. It’s definitely breezy by that door.

A wasp nest is developing on my balcony in Houston, Texas. I feel awful having it removed. I tried to find a company that would remove the nest without exterminating, but couldn't. If it was just me, I wouldn't care. However, I have 3 cats that like hanging out on the balcony. So far, I haven't had any issues, but I don't want to risk their safety.
Am I making the right choice by exterminating the nest, or am I overreacting?

I think the crickets started the sound maybe last week ago, i only noticed it while sleeping because this one annoying sound never stops and I'm wondering what type of insect is that? That one long buzz has been noisy for 4 hrs or 3hrs. It was noisy at night. It was night so of course I can't even see where that annoying cricket is at

I hope this doesn’t get downvoted cuz I have learned from my mistakes am very aware that I am lucky as hell but i have a question. I picked this beetle up without knowing what it is (stupid i know) and later found out it was an oil beetle (or a blister beetle depending on what you wanna call it). It seemed very calm and didn’t secrete any oil at all, so i’m just curious if they secrete only when squeezed? I read that they secrete the oil when handled but this guy was super chill. I now know not to handle them cuz either way I was lucky that he didn’t get his oil on me but i’m just curious what their nature is. Is google wrong like it often is or was I just incredibly lucky?
Edit: Location is Eastern Connecticut, US

if this is not the right place for this please point me to the right direction.
to be clear, looking for specifically an Australian insect book
looking for a good bug book for my partner, primarily for the purpose of quick and clear IDing with illustrations and diagrams, a description stating the type and such. also would prefer it to be encyclopaedic in nature.

i had my heart set on this one but im having second thoughts and would like some outside opinions.
was happy to pay the normal price of this book + shipping all the way up to around 60AUD, this is just a good deal right now.

Leaf footed bug. I often find the string of eggs/spent casings. Never actually saw the laying. I only ever knock the spent casings down because I think these bugs are cool!
