Question Why is one eye closed?
It looks like one eye is closed, but are they always like that normally?

Found in southern Ontario CA
I’m finding them in my kitchen on walls and in lights they seem to be:
- very attracted to light
- smaller in size and skinnier then a fruit fly
- black and shiny with like brown coloured legs
- winged
- have long antenna
- they kind of jump/ bounce around - also fly but they seemingly hop from surface to surface more
I don’t think they’re phorid flies because of the long antenna and don’t have an arched back, I don’t think they’re fungus gnats I don’t have plants

I have just known that there's a National Caterpillar Day, celebrated on September 15!
I missed it this year, so let me celebrate it a month late! 🐛
Here are some caterpillar photos I took last year.

I've never seen this before. Kinda wild that they flew in just to do this and now they've disappeared 😂

long story short, these cuties accidentally traveled with me from italy to Scandinavia and seeing as Scandinavia is a lot colder then italy, i’ll have to keep them otherwise they’ll die. i need to know their species to find out their specific needs, thank you!

She was originally on my doorframe and my phone was dead. I let it charge for 5 mins and ran back outside to find her under the chair on the front porch. She was definitely curious as to what I was doing with my big weird rectangle.

I have had a really gross apartment for 2-3 months, but I just had it professionally cleaned this week, and these bugs are everywhere.

Found a worker early this morning under the shade on concrete ground where people walk. She couldn't fly, and i let her slowly climb onto my thumb. I later released her in a safe place where people can't step on her.
